I’m new to this city and working as an SDE at a company where the work culture feels really different to me. People here seem very open-minded, sometimes a little too open for my comfort.

I’ve been here for about a year now, and I’m assigned under a senior SDE who’s around 10 years older than me. Recently, she started sharlng very persnal details about her married and intimate life like how lucky she feels with her husband and other stuff that honestly caught me off guard. At first she seemed hesitant, but over time it felt like she kept crossing new levels of personal conversation.What confuses me is that this hasn’t happened with just one person. I’ve had similar experiences with two other senior colleagues too. So now I genuinely don’t know if they see me as someone trustworthy and easy to talk to, or if they simply don’t have many people to share these things with. Sometimes they even talk about how they used to impress other men, which makes it even more awkward for me.And before anyone assumes otherwise I’m a guy, which is why this situation feels even stranger to me. If these conversations happened between female friends or colleagues, I probably wouldn’t think much of it. But I keep wondering: why are they sharlng all this with me?
