Traveling Post cleft lift question.

I am having a cleft lift done early September. I am getting married next year so my bridal shower got scheduled for early October (4.5 weeks post op) the bridal shower is like 1.5 hour drive from my town.
Can anyone who has had the surgery tell me if I’ll be good to travel by then? I should be back at work by then so i assume it will be fine but this is all so unknown to me.

Cleft Lift scheduled! Any recovery recommendations?

I got my cleft lift scheduled for early September! I’m so excited and so nervous. I am very confident tho this is the right thing for me! I’m getting it done with not technically a specialist but she’s done pilonidal surgeries for decades and does cleft lifts very frequently now.

Anyone who has had a cleft lift can you recommend any recovery tips/products that helped you? I have an ergonomic cushion that I love but I may buy a couple more just so I don’t have to lug this one everywhere. I’m going to take off work for the first week then WFH from my standing desk the second week. I’ve heard it’s best to start sitting as much as possible after tho.

Other than these things can anyone recommend anything? Such as small exercises, diet, otc meds, etc.

Thanks!

Cleft Lift Post Op Question

I have a consult for a cleft lift this week. I am a pretty active person (gym, daily walks, figure skater etc) and so obviously this is all things I want to get back to ASAP but don’t want to have any complications post op.

So my question is, if you are a pretty active person, how long did it take for you to get back to your normal activities? (I don’t mean like doing upper body work outs after a few weeks) like fully back to your normal self.

Thanks in advance!

No one warned me burps taste bad 😭

I have loved every second of the relief I’ve gotten since getting the Botox (besides the weeks of slow swallow that was hell) but no one warned me burps taste bad. No one will prepare you for your first burp after a Costco hot dog…

Exploring cleft lift options.

I have had two cyst reoccurrences in the same spot each flare up lasting about a week. Yesterday I noticed some discomfort and a bump forming in a different spot. Never needed anything drained nothing ever infected.

Last reoccurrence I went to see a surgeon in my town she recommended me to get a cleft lift and said she could schedule me right then and there but she said she’d done less than 10 cleft lifts and that scared me so I left and didn’t go back. She seemed very confident in herself though.

I then asked my doctor for another referral to a larger hospital. They sent two referrals and never heard anything back. I really cannot travel out of state for this.

Should I just go back to the first surgeon and get it over with and hope that it all goes well. Or wait it out? I’m getting married in April so I really want to just have this out of the way as soon as possible. Or should I just wait till after the wedding?

Can anyone who’s had this done give some advice? I’m just so so sick of these cysts.

Navigating Name change 2027 Bride

Hi!

I’m getting married in April of 2027, but we have already done our legal marriage (for lots of logistical reasons)

We want to go out of the country for our honeymoon (May of 2027 at the latest) and I’m planning on changing my last name. In terms of getting a new passport and such, do I have time if I start the name change process ASAP, or would it be safer to wait to change my name until after the honeymoon.

Other info. My Drivers License expires in November and I’d rly like to not have to get one in November and one in April.

I’m just not sure how long the whole process takes. Thanks in advance!

(Also I’m new to the sub so if this is the wrong place to post this I’ll take it down)

Nearly 2 weeks post op! Feeling amazing!

I got 100 units of Botox nearly 2 weeks ago and feel so much better. So I thought I’d share for anyone wanting to know more about post op. No more bloating, no chest tension after eating or drinking, and almost no croaking at all. Microburps are still constant after eating or drinking any thing even water but I’m starting to have larger burps and feeling relief with those.

Only gripe is the slow swallow. I never did a liquid diet after the procedure just ate normally just slower and chewed more and CHUGGED water. (Like 40oz of water minimum per meal) Only had one choking scare where I needed the heimlich but that was mostly my fault and not as much a slow swallow problem.

I saw a lot of people talk about horrible acid reflux after the procedure but I have to say I think mine improved? I had HORRIBLE acid reflux for years. Somehow I think mine is better after the Botox. I take a OTC Pepcid every now and then but nothing regularly.

All that to say. Everyone’s post op is different but I hope this encourages someone to get the procedure and seek some relief.

I am more than happy to answer any questions!

One week post op slow swallow

I’m officially one week post Botox (yay) having more burps but today the slow swallow got exponentially worse. I was able to eat solid foods but now I’m choking on everything even water. Has this happened to anyone else?

Post Botox Update

Hi everyone! Wanted to come give an update on how the Botox went! I had it done on Thursday July 9th it’s now the 13th and I’m feeling amazing. Honestly the only symptom I’ve been having is the slow swallow but it’s manageable. I had horrible acid reflux before the procedure and that has been nearly gone since the Botox. (Thought it would be the opposite) I’ve had micro burps for a few days now. Still waiting for a big belch but the micro burps are already soooo relieving. Obviously all recovery processes are different but if you’re scared to get the Botox done let this be your sign!!

Other details:
100 units of Botox
Procedure was $650 USD before insurance. $150 after insurance.

Just got home from the hospital!

Hi all! I posted on here the other day wanting advice on procedure and post op stuff. Wanted to announce that the Botox went great!

I immediately ate after and (probably not the best idea) drank a soda lol. I feel pretty good rn. Had some micro burps on the way home but swallowing already feels soooo funky. It hurts a little but mostly just uncomfortable.

Over all though feeling great and so excited to fully recover!

Questions about post op

Hi! I’m newer to this subreddit but I’ve known I’ve had RCPD for years now.

I’m finally in a place where I can get the procedure and I’m going on Thursday! At the preop appointment to get the surgery scheduled I was told there would be virtually no recovery period just a difficulty swallowing and acid reflux. I’ve struggled with acid reflux my whole life so I figured it was no big deal.

Every time I have had a surgery of some kind, the week of I watch peoples videos about their experiences and inevitably freak myself out. Well here I am now freaking out. I didn’t know the slow swallow is supposed to be really bad and last for so long. I’m going out of town for a week starting Saturday. I don’t want to have to pack a bunch of smoothie supplies and protein shakes but is that what I’m going to have to do?

So I guess my main question is for people who have had the Botox: Did you even attempt solid foods for the first 2 weeks? I’m just scared and need some sort of reassurance from someone who has been through this.

High heart rate with no burp.

Hi! I’ve recently been officially diagnosed with RCPD (known I’ve had it for years but was ignored by so many clueless doctors) I have Botox scheduled for next month! (Yay!) For the past like 6+ years I’ve felt winded all the time and recently noticed a pretty high HR (100 resting, 140 walking, 210 running) it’s pretty bad. I’ve had EKG/ECGs done and all normal. Got put on propranolol and that’s been working great. I’m an active person so I’m not out of shape cardio wise.

This could completely be unrelated but I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed a high heart rate with no burp and saw it improve after Botox. Just curious!

Would love to hear any thoughts!

Surgery Consultation. What do I go with?

I just had a consultation for pilonidal surgery because I’ve had mild but PAINFUL reoccurring cysts.

The surgeon basically told me I need a cleft lift. Anything else will keep returning. I like the idea of the short recovery for cleft lift but I’m scared of the drain and I’m scared of how it will look after. (Im Female in my 20s so this is a concern for me)

I asked about SILAC but she said it’s unreliable. I’m going to seek a second opinion but I just wanted to ask if anyone has had experiences with either surgery and what they would recommend doing?

Cyst reoccurrence. need advice.

I had a cyst flare up for the first time pretty bad in December (I have family members that have had them so I knew what it was) after some home remedies and antibiotics it went away after a week or 2.

Now (June) I have another flare up. I immediately went to the doctor and they said I needed surgery. (Not bc it was bad but just because it wouldn’t go away forever)

Now I’m just panicking bc I have never had an open wound surgery. I don’t want to not be able to do normal activities for months. I’m just very afraid of the unknown with this and I’m kind of freaking out.

Any advice? Does it get better?
