(CO) DECEPTIVE PRICING dealership already received a FTC notice of warning about deceptive pricing
Was looking at prices online for months, dealership was the best priced, out of everyone hands down. went through the online purchase and screenshot every step to include the final price with taxes and fees and showing all options declined. Went to dealership test drive the car and decided I wanted to proceed with the purchase. At this point sales associate advised me I have to include the appearance package it's mandatory I can't decline. Escalated to the manager at that point I advised the manager they can't force someone to purchase an additional add-on. he then tried to tell me it's legally required! Excuse me what?! Asked him to repeat it. He says yes it's legally required by law that you purchase the appearance package, asked for him to put that in writing. At that point him and the sale associate walked away and effectively refused to sell me the car at that point. I had to go to another dealership because they wouldn't assist me any longer. Bought a comparable valued car at a higher price because they refused to honor the price. Researched online about this dealership and found out they were one the 97 dealerships the FTC sent a notice of warning about deceptive pricing back in March. What are my odds of getting treble damages because of this? The difference in car prices at the dealerships was $3k x 3=9k through a demand letter from a law firm? Or should I just get an attorney and file a suit?
