Is weed a factor in the bad Vancouver dating scene?

Just throwing this out there… I agree with the general perception that Vancouver is really terrible for dating. I travel a lot and I see a stark difference. When I’m outside Vancouver I meet people almost immediately and even if it’s short term it can be very very positive and fun. And I’m definitely open to meeting someone in another city and seeing them regularly.

For Vancouver, I think some factors are how expensive the city is, and some overlap with how the city has a general reputation for being a little bit cold and hard to make general connections.

However one pattern I’m noticing, especially when it comes to establishing physical chemistry, is how difficult it can be to do that when someone smokes a ton of weed. I have had partners in the past who smoked quite a bit of weed and were still capable of a good physical relationship. However, one thing I’ve really noticed lately is that when the physical chemistry doesn’t happen, it’s often with a heavy weed smoker.

I’m male and straight so my dating experiences are with females. But I also have female friends who are dating guys who smoke a ton of weed and they have low sex drives. I’m not just talking sex though, in my experience it’s not just a matter of sex drive, it’s people getting in their own heads.

This isn’t just a one time thing, it’s a pattern I’ve been noticing. Anyone else see it?

Flair is terrible

I’m on my way in an uber to the Montreal airport and go to check in for flight F8107 to Vancouver today. It’s about 100 minutes before the flight. Online check-in says check-in is closed!

I had received an email from Flair the day before saying that the deadline for checking in is one hour before the flight for domestic flights. What I did not notice was that the email said this is starting July 28 (why the hell did the send me the email when my flight was as morning of July 26??)

So I figure no problem I’ll go to the counter. I never check a bag so 90 minutes is always more than enough time and I’ve checked in tons of times at counters or airport computers in that time frame.

Shall I go to the counter in the first guy is not helpful but polite. He refers to his higher up standing at the next counter and the guy looks at me and just says no very rudely. I tell him I’ve received an email I would like him to read and he refused saying that’s a different department I asked for his name and he won’t give it to me (I was standing too far away to read his badge). So I’m mildly upset, nothing crazy at that point and the guy says to his underling, “call security”.

At that point I did get angry and told him he was a POS. Walked away and had to pay $750 for an air Canada ticket and wait 9 hours in the airport. I complain to the transportation authority and seeking compensation but really this is it for me and Flair. The slightly cheaper ticket simply isn’t worth the traps this company lays for you.
