Official v42.00 Patch Notes (+Release schedule for the rest of this year)

Official v42.00 Patch Notes (+Release schedule for the rest of this year)

Full post: https://communities.epicgames.com/thread/lego-r-fortnite-odyssey-quick-build/BWCf/ I was just gonna comment on the StatusBot post but, between the schedule and long post, I figured I'd just share anew so more users will hopefully see it. Just pulling out a few highlights here:

>From now through the rest of the year, every update adds a new building skill, each one stacking on the last, taking you from everyday building to true Master Builder.

>Quick Build replaces Guided Build as the new default way to build in Odyssey - and it's a big leap forward. Faster builds, less grind, more of your ideas brought to life. The more you build, the faster it gets - and the more pieces you can place at once - so those huge creations come together in a fraction of the time. Give it a go and see how it clicks.

^(Sounds like the pieces it shows is based on what's placed, so you build out however you like instead of following hard instructions. If so, this is excellent news for those who like to customize but not necessarily build from scratch.)

>This community is what makes Odyssey what it is - so we’re putting YOUR builds front and center.

^(I guess we can perhaps make and submit builds for official inclusion? That's cool.)

The schedule posted is probably not everything we'll get this year, just confirmed teases. From the schedule, "Save Build" sounds straightforward: Save a build as a blueprint for use elsewhere (in another world? shared via a code?). I'm curious what "Edit Build" will be: a feature I've requested is that the player can swap out a piece for a same-size piece without having to both destroy and then find-and-place, perhaps that? No idea for sure, tho

Wallpapers crafted from Liino's Operator Story (some "blink and you'll miss it" frames)

The Operator Story video for Liino included some corruption, which had a lot of single/low-frame info/designs. I thought two of these were prime wallpaper material so I went ahead, ripped them, and made various wallpaper versions for them. The raw frames are also included for those who don't like how I adapted them to 16:9 ratios and/or for doing custom ratios.

I made more 1080p versions but Reddit only allows 10 images on a post so I only included the cropped+resized versions for those. I tried making a Phone version of AUDIENCE LOCKED but it never looked right, so that's why only EMPYREAL IDOL has a phone version. Also, Reddit compression might not be kind to these so actually viewing the 4K images on a 4K monitor might be goopy, sorry~

^(Not sure what the right tag for this would be: It's certainly not fanart but it's also not official media... fluff it is. Also, I tried to see if there was official versions of these but I couldn't immediately find them, I think wallpaper "goodies" have just fallen out of vogue...)

Why does the game have to call me out like this

Also FYI if you talk to her today she'll give you a Tome that will give you at least some parts that you missed (I dunno if all of them) rather than any parts directly.

If you have all of the parts already you get essence instead.

The Water Treatment Sector appears to have Braille in front of each Purification Node... and I have no idea what they say

Trying to optimize my sewage treatment, I was at the observation node checking my piping and noticed that on front of the ground for each Purification Node was what seems to be a plaque with Braille. I have a mostly-blind uncle so I can recognize it but not read it myself.

Looking at the purification node, the Braille appears to be ⠹⠿⠷⠷. Looking away , it's ⠻⠻⠿⠧ (I doubt this is the proper way to read it but mention it just in case.)

I am speak good English so that my first thought to attempt: Using an online Braille<->English translator, the plaque reads "thforofof". That's... uh... oh, duh, right, HG (and Wuling in general) are Chinese so it's probably Chinese Braille. One skimming of Wikipedia later we have:

  • ⠹ yong, -iong ㄩㄥ
  • ⠿ wa, -ua ㄨㄚ
  • ⠷ ou ㄡ [2x]

Great, so in Simplified Chinese it reads "yongwaouou"! Oh, I can't read/speak Chinese either. Off to Google Translate, which translates that to

>Digging for lotus roots

Huh. I tried searching an alternative spelling (用挖藕藕) that Google Translate gave, the Romanized version, and "Digging for lotus roots" with no results (or no relevant results). So, unfortunately, I don't know what it actually says, I can only report that the plaque is there. My guess is that "Digging for lotus roots" is the literal translation and the term actually translates to something like "Waste Processing". Another possible clue: in front of the nodes, in teeny-tiny text, you can read "ACCRETIONARY SOIL". "Accretion" is the process of slowly adding/collecting/gathering, but I've never heard the term "accretionary soil" nor does it give any meaningful search results. The term without context makes me think of compost or waste, so again likely nothing special.

Someone who knows Chinese (or, better yet, Chinese Braille) can probably translate it easily but this is the end of a few hours' research for this white boy. It's something I thought would have been "solved" by now but I can't find anything even referencing it; this could be a new addition, but I'd have to scour LPs to see if I can spot it when Test Area was first released.

Cannot post in group, "restricted due to unusual activity" but *only* in desktop version; any possible alternate fix?

End of May I started getting this message every time I try to engage with a group--posting, commenting, or joining--but only when using Facebook in a desktop browser:

>Open Facebook on your mobile device to confirm your identity
Certain actions have been restricted due to unusual activity.

I can admin/mod (mostly) fine, I can react to comments/post, the restrictions are just weird. It also seems like I'm now allowed to view group members (including in groups I admin/mod!) in general, tho I just get a generic error instead of the same message if I try so I'm not sure how exactly I'm restricted in that sense.

I have no issue using the browser on my phone nor if I use Dev Tools to pretend my desktop browser is a phone, so the restriction is exclusive to the standard desktop version. I have no interest in putting Zuck's app on my phone; furthermore, in searching on this, I am finding many users with similar messages that try to "confirm their identity" aaaaaand just get banned instead. (So I'll do the work-around rather than risk it.)

However, I have yet to see any reports of this happening just in relation to groups: most results are either accounts restricted in general or about Messenger. Anything that seemed both relevant and where the person had the restriction removed said it just went away after 30 days, but I'm closing in on 60.

I'm hoping it will go away after 60 (or 90) days, but it is annoying having to switch into phone-mode just to make a comment in the meantime and there's no guarantee that will happen. Has anyone else encountered this and knows of other ways to work around or otherwise "dismiss" the restriction?

I was Yesterday Years Old when I found out that liquid pipes can go over depot bus (and ports)

In hindsight, this is obvious from the standard gameplay camera so I assume most already know. However, I almost never do AIC stuff without also being in top-down view and my brain was trained from V4 as "building==obstacle". It was only when trying to move a bus and then noticing a pipe was in a tile it would occupy, yet the game would allow me to place it, did I realize the truth. You can even have output ports hug the depot bus pieces without issue.

And, since we're getting gas--which uses the same pipes--in <24 hours I thought I'd share my "wisdom" ^(lol) for any other poor soul who also hadn't figured this out yet, in case it makes their new setup a tad easier.

Once you regain control of Endmin in Camille's story you can backtrack a bit; even without the intended lighting, the final "stage" is still quite striking

Ah... Endmin... I think you may have inhaled too much hazefyre.

Yes, I know I'm late to the party. >!But also once you finish the mission go back to the test farm and there will be some new (I think) files...!<

Oh, Estella is always worn out and hates physical labor because she was an LB slave for a few years. Cool, cool.

This is from File 3 of her profile. It remains vague beyond saying she spent "many years" in the wildlands, presumably while enslaved by the LBs, so I dunno if she was a kid when captured or older. (The File starts by referencing her childhood "10 years ago" then talks about her family moving twice.) Sucks regardless, but one is more traumatic than the other.

Okay, yeah, whoever does translation for the "B side" stuff has some fun with the classic memes. And, yes, I again did my own variation to match.

^(Also I'm pretty sure we used Wuling Stock Bills to upgrade the Arena and not T-Creds, but memes.)

Interesting set-piece in the unique setting during Camille's story... I play as Shendmin, does it look different for Mendmin?

Why, yes, those gendered terms for Endmin are terrible so, now that I have your attention:

During the section where Camille returns "home", a chess board and some chess pieces can be found in multiple locations. Both before and after Endmin comes in, the board is the same: a black pawn knocked down, a white Pawn and white Queen standing opposite it. My Endmin is female, so I'm curious: is the King there instead of the Queen for male Endmins? ^(Malendmin ok sorry I'll stop)

I'm not aware that gender choice changes anything in the game--there's Endmin themself, of course--aside from pronoun usage in text/voice. If the White set is supposed to represent Endmin+Camille, and the black set Char, then if it's a King for male Endmin that's the first instance I know of where the gender choice is reflected in the world. In this case, the chessboard likely reflects a "prophecy" at Char's failure in this attempt.

On the other hand, if the Queen is still used for male Endmins then it likely represents the twins' mother. This could lead either side to representing either twin: Char claims that their mother far preferred Camille, leaving Char as the "discarded" one. Conversely, during the house scene as Camille we see a phantom that is supposedly her, appearing to support Jakub/Char. This could indicate Char believes their mother "secretly" supports his action in death, making him White and Camille Black: the chessboard, then, is Char's desired prophecy to their encounter.

Another thing that supports Camille represented by Black is the Knight: before Endmin arrives, the pieces beside the board are just one of each piece lined up the same for both sides. Afterward, however, there are five captured White Pawns and Four captured Black Pawns plus a Black Knight. (The absence of all the other pieces could just be incidental.) It could be that the Knight represents Endmin: Char, as White, has the board set up to prophesize his preferred outcome which would require him to at least keep the Endmin out of play. This can be taken further: the four Black pawns could be the relevant UWST workers (Philip & The Gang), while the White pawns represent the various Landbreakers.

Regardless of which color is whom, it's also interesting that the twins are depicted as pawns: While it makes sense from how Char views Ses'qa, it puts the twins on the same level as all the other pawns. I would have expected them as a different piece, or even as distinct pieces (but that might have made it too easy to tell which side is for whom.)

Disclaimer: I still have what I believe to be the tail end of Camille's mission to finish, so it's possible that this post was a waste and all of the above becomes clear during it.

Reminder: If you need a chill moment, you can summon Yvonne and hang out in front of the "graffiti" once you've completed her character missions

This isn't new, but I only discovered it myself today and couldn't find any recent posts about it. I like that you really can just come back and chill with her, as long as you like. Neither of you make a noise or even move much, you just sit there staring at TA-TA until you decide to Leave. :)

^(Although now that I think of it, this might not be such a "chill moment" to some...)

AIC Logistic suggested improvements: "Priority" settings for Converger/Splitter; "Lane" mode for Protocol Stash

tl;dr: Look at the pretty pictures~

As one of the players who is heavily invested in the factory aspect of EN--I've had multiple sessions where it's just 1-2 hours of factory optimization, refactoring, and changing focus--I feel there's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to Logistics.

Right now the Converger/Splitter are simple 3-in-1-out (or vice-versa) when we could have more nuance. Sure, a player could simply not hook a belt up to an in/output, but there are multiple times where I want to prioritize a output to a specific port and only output to others when the first is maxed. I know that chains of Converger/Splitters alongside the multiple output ports of a machine can approach this but--even if a setup exists that guarantees "high" and "low" priority--it's messy and consumes a lot of space.

And so, I present the "Priority" slider concept for both Converger and Splitter units: Each input (Converger)/output (Splitter) adds a small slider next to each belt where the player can toggle between "Priority" (check mark, the default) and "Wait" (stopwatch). ^(See the first and second images for mockups.) The unit acts on belt(s) marked with "Priority" only until there is no action to be had with those, in which case it acts on the "Wait" belt(s). Since that definition might be too vague, here's what would happen in each mixed-case for the two units:

  • Converger
    • Priority/Priority/Wait: The unit flips input between the two Priority belts until both are empty, and only then does it input from the Wait belt
      • i.e. if one Priority belt is empty but not the second, only the second Priority belt is used for input
    • Priority/Wait/Wait: The unit only takes input from the Priority belt until that belt is empty, at which point it would flip between the two Wait belts
      • If the Priority belt has items again, said flipping is interrupted as the unit returns to only input from the Priority belt. The unit would remember its cycle position between the Wait belts, avoiding the risk of one Wait belt being ignored if the Priority belt has a sub-constant flow rate (e.g. .5 unit/s)
  • Splitter
    • Priority/Priority/Wait: The unit flips output between the two Priority belts and only outputs to the Wait belt if both Priority belts are clogged
      • i.e. if one Priority belt is clogged but not the second, the unit would then output to only the second Priority belt
    • Priority/Wait/Wait: The unit only outputs to the Priority belt until it becomes clogged, at which point it flips between the two Wait belts
      • If the Priority belt becomes unclogged, said flipping is interrupted as the unit returns to only output to the Priority belt. The unit would remember its cycle position between the Wait belts, avoiding the risk of one Wait belt being ignored if the Priority belt has a sub-constant flow rate (e.g. .5 unit/s)

^(For both units, all belts set to) ^(Priority) ^({or) ^(Wait)^(} would match the functionality of existing units.)

While it would be messy, these could be chained together to make an "order" of prioritization belt: say you had two Convergers, a and b both with a P and W input belt. If you connect b's output to a's W port, you'd have three ordered priorities:

  1. a's P belt
  2. b's P belt
  3. b's W belt

That would be some advanced-level shit, of course: I expect the vast majority of players who even care to use this setting would find a single unit sufficient. Those who want even more nuance will still find this much cleaner than chaining Convergers/Splitters as things are now.

^(You might be thinking, "Why not 3 settings since there are three belts?" I think a trinary toggle {e.g. "High", "Med", and "Low" priorities, vs. just "Priority" and "Wait"} would create excess complexity for novice players w/out real benefit. Advanced AIC players could easily find just three priority levels insufficient, chaining the units together regardless.)

Protocol Stash "Lanes"

Protocol Stash Units are helpful for (among other things) their belt-free transfer, allowing the player to create layouts that don't have to end at the AIC or a Bus Depot. Even in Wuling, where the player chooses where Bus Depots are placed, the Stash can be more flexible and has three "loaders" in the same width for a single Depot Loader Unit (albeit 2x as deep). With three input ports the Stash can take from multiple lines; however, it tries to put all three to each of the six slots (in order) which means that, if the item from one input line is maxed in Storage, that item eventually maxes the Stash as well and the other two inputs get blocked.

My suggestion to remedy this is a "Lane" Mode for the Protocol Stash Unit: When the unit is in "Lane" mode, each input port stores to only two slots. In "Lane" Mode, one item becoming blocked does not cut off the other two, the caveat being the opposite output ports are also locked to the two slots. ^(See the third images for a mockup.) This changes the nature of the Stash from a mobile Loader or overflow storage to a "pass through" for lines: an item from an input port just continues right on through to the matching output port and only gets stored if the output port is blocked. The difference from the current Unit (which would be "Any" Mode in this concept) is explicit control when handling multiple item types and avoiding the blockage problem. The silo'd storage even gives it the functionality of a "mini AIC".

tl;dr: Look at the pretty pictures~
