Genuine question - why do some people rest their shoes on seats? It's always bothered me from a cleanliness standpoint, curious if I'm overreacting or if there's a reason I'm not seeing.

Ok can someone explain this to me? Why do people put their shoes on the seat? Feels so unhygienic
