Update : First fedora, not sure if I pull it off...

So I tried to take your comments into consideration and tried to modify a few things to make that fedora look properly on me :

- First of all : De-mazeltofication ! Went to a millinery in my city and told the nice lady there about my problem looking like a rabbi. After some discussion, we went for a ribbon replacement, in grey, as you can see in the pictures. I think it breaks the orthodox vibe quite a lot. Will probably pimp the hat a little more, but one step in the right direction. The lady was super fast in doing the job, gave the hat this morning, was ready in the afternoon !

- Second issue : the bash ! I used steam yesterday and this morning, the front is bashed a little more, and I think it's much better as many of you predicted. Not sure if I should bash it further.

- Finally : looking too "strict". This time I put on a little smile, and I went another direction with the shirt. Think it works, but would love to have your opinions. Beard and glasses won't be negotiable, but I made an effort for the rest.

First Fedora, not sure if I pull it off...

A bit of context : I'm 38, a hat lover since I'm a kid but ́never went bolder than a flat cap. I particularly love vintage, formal hats, ones that smell like past century and old school swag. Lost more than 55kg since last November, and decided I might get a go now that I don’t look like a whale anymore.

Well, here we go ! It’s a Bates Hatters fedora from UK, I tried to dress properly around it so it doesn’t look out of place. Definitely not for this summer, but might want to pull it off when weather gets appropriate for such attire. Still not sure if it suits me though. I'm in euphoria mode right now so maybe a little delusional.

What are your honest thoughts ? I don’t mind the truth even if it hurts !

Devenir tuteur / gardien légal de ma nièce : quelles démarches ?

Bonjour à tous et toutes,

Je (37 M) vais probablement d'ici le mois prochain héberger et gérer le quotidien, à minima jusqu'à la rentrée 2027, de ma nièce (16 ans).

Pour résumer la situation, elle a été en internat cette année, et rentrait soit chez son père soit sa mère le week-end. Sauf qu'au cours de l'année, les choses sont parties en vrille des deux côtés :

- Le papa bosse comme chef dans un resto, jamais là, et la belle mère est violente avec ma nièce

- La maman (ma soeur) retombe dans l'alcoolisme grave (cuites sur cuites à la vodka et tous les drames qui s’ensuivent) régulièrement même après des passages en cure répétés.

Ma nièce en est à un point où elle ne veut plus rentrer ni chez l'un ni chez l'autre. J’habite à quelques centaines de km (donc loin des embrouilles) et je suis capable de lui fournir un quotidien équilibré pour reprendre pied.

Elle est demandeuse, son papa est OK, sa mère, quand elle est sobre, est OK aussi mais je ne veux pas faire les choses n'importe comment. Quelle serait la meilleure situation légale pour héberger ma nièce et avoir les capacités de gérer le quotidien ? Je pense aux signatures pour le lycée, médical, etc. Je ne parle pas de recevoir une pension pour elle ou d'exiger des obligations de la part de ses parents qui de toute façon la laissent déjà pour compte. Juste qu'elle puisse vivre chez moi et que tout soit en ordre légalement.

Merci d'avance pour tous les conseils que vous pourrez me donner. Ca va être un bouleversement dans ma vie (je vis seul, sans enfants, mais je suis prof donc je sais ce qu'est un ado) et j’ai une grosse montée de stress à l'idée de ne pas faire comme il faut.
