US vs. Belgium Predictions?

3-2 US in extra time.

If we thought the Turkey game was a mystery going in, then how the team responds without Balo is the real headstumper.

Is it a like for like change? Does the formation change? And who does Poch pick?

And just what will we get from Belgium, which hasn’t looked commanding - other than a 5 minute window against Senegal?

My guess: it’s Pepi for Balo, and we stay the same.

I think Pepi will play well, if not shine. And I think our approach matches up well against the Belgians.

Pepi didn’t look great against Turkey - but that was with Weston as the only “starter” in with him. He’s got this. We’ve seen it before. Plus, he really just has to attack the back line. If he does - there could be room for others to score.

Feel like once the nerves settle, it’ll be a proper battle - up and down the pitch. They’ll give us opportunities - and we’ll give them some.

Either Gio or Weah with the game winner in ET.

Gonna be a Malox match for sure.

Let’s go make some history, lads!

EDIT (Sunday 1p ET): Balo’s suspension has been lifted and he can play tomorrow. Will keep the same score prediction, perhaps in full time, not extra time.

Dispensaries with 2oz deals?

When MA first expanded daily limits from 1oz to 2, I saw some dispos offering deals on two ounce orders.

Not sure if they’re still around.

Anyone know of any dispos that are offering deals on 56g’s?

Thanks!

Why Was Nate Working As A Kitman?

(And it’s taken me 5-6 years to come up with this question…)

Nate’s a genius.

Even his father begrudgingly and belatedly says that to him in S3.

When the show starts in S1, no one of note seems to know who Nate is. Rebecca doesn’t know his name, it’s doubtful (though not assured) that George (fired manager) doesn’t know him, and certainly is not looking to Nate for game or play advice. And the team members who know him insult him and give him chores.

If Nate wanted to become a gaffer, he’s not doing anything with the job at the team when Ted arrives.

And once Ted arrives and shows respect and admiration for Nate, Nate doesn’t believe him, and can’t believe his luck - to the point where he’s afraid to share his diagram of a single play.

So why is Nate working as a kitman? Perhaps it’s for the love of the game, but it’s probably lousy money, and would certainly be “underusing his privilege,” to paraphrase his father.

Do you think Nate went for the kitman job for the miracle hope he could translate that into coaching? Nothing in his demeanor seems to confirm that (his surprise when his opinions are sought).

If it’s just for love of the game, wouldn’t his father be much more specifically upset at that decision than he would be at selecting a restaurant?

By the way, how much do kitmen make? I doubt in the US it would be enough to afford an apartment.

Absent a better exploration, it really does feel like the equivalent of an actor taking background work I hopes the director will see them and think “that’s a star!” or an intern at a tv station hoping the anchor will be out one day, and the manager will turn to them and say “okay, you read the news.”

Let’s say Ted does not take the instant liking to Nate that he does… would Nate still be the kitman three years later?

Or should I just accept the film/tv trope - that Nate is the hot girl in class who wears glasses and puts her hair up… who no one realizes is hot until she has a mini-makeover?

MLS Player Breaks All-Time World Cup Record

There were some who wondered what level Messi would be able to compete at after two years in Miami.

Then there’s the Messi (MLS) to Ronaldo (Saudi League) comparison, as legends playing in “less competitive leagues”.

I mean, Messi is Messi… but MLS gets some flowers as Messi breaks the all time WC record.

“Hey, if it’s good enough for Messi…”

Okay, What’s Kean Got?

What’s his big medical malady? The more ridiculous the better.

My guess? Sex change.

Or… fireworks accident.

US vs Australia Predictions?

2-1 US if AUS scores first
3-1 US if US scores first

I think this is going to be the toughest game of the group stage for the USMNT. It’s certainly the toughest for fans to feel confident about - because anyone who’s watched the US go through CONCACAF qualifying has nightmare memories of low blocks doing us in.

I don’t think we’re gonna solve it, but I think we’ll do enough to win.

On Pulisic: he’s playing, and he’ll be 100%. Maybe he comes out at 60’ after we go up 3-1. Just got the sense after listening to all the “will he, won’t he” about Chris Richards that Poch likes to dangle key players as possible scratches - just to make the opponents do more prep work. Feel like that’s what we’re seeing with Christian.

And of course, still no confidence in us to keep a clean sheet.

If AUS scores first, they’ll add mortar and bricks to their low block, and it will be an ugly struggle to first equalize, then take the lead (scenario also feels ripe for the US to get a PK - maybe the game winner).

If the US scores first, AUS will have to come out and give up the block to some extent, hence my 3-1 call.

Let’s clinch the group tomorrow!

Infantino’s Mileage

Is he appearing at every match?

How many miles is he picking up?

Half expected to see a sub open tracking his plane - and emissions.

Does the head of FIFA always do this? Does Infantino have grafts set up in every host city?

David Hockney, RIP

And pour another one out for Leslie’s decision not to accept the Hockney, as well.

Deaths on the Show

We know that Mister Rad killed the former glee club (cutting the brake line on their bus, right?).

We also know that the Vice Dean of the A/C school killed the Dean (“he murdered someone. Call the police.”)

And we *thought* Starburns and Kim were dead, but they weren’t.

Oh, and Pierce and both of his parents died (mom left a rap song at the end of her message - dad was worried about white purity).

Anyone else die on the show? Can’t think of anyone.

BOLO read wedge panel

Found this one parked illegally the other day with at least one part missing.

Belonged to an off-duty cop (how much is he making?) who was working, off duty, on private assignment to help traffic outside a theater.

Watched him finish his shift at the end of the show, climb in, and drive off.

Assuming he was heading home to chug kool-aid.

How Should AFC Richmond Honor Ted?

He’s the most successful coach in club history, taking them within a game of the Premier League title and within two wins of the FA Cup. And he changed the culture, hopefully for good. My ideas:

Statue: hard to justify. He didn’t win a title of a trophy, so a statue might be overdoing it (though if there is one, it *has* to be Ted mid-Running Man).

Rename Nelson Road: Ted Lasso stadium? He might not like that.

Rename club offices: think they’re already named for someone. Maybe Earl?

Giant photo of Ted inside the office: possible. Pretty blah.

Rename All The Red Seats “Barbecue Sauce”. He’d like that.

Rename the press room: meh

What would you suggest? How should Richmond salute the manager that gave them their identity?

“This is Not Enough”

Should be the key to promoting season two.

Show me scenes from S1, then add “this is not enough”

Season two of Heated Rivalry drops next spring (or whenever).

Including one post reposted here three times over that span. (“dogs really are our best friends”)

Been loving this sub since joining - but getting frustrated seeing the same clips over and over and over.

Can anything be done to clean this sub up?

Quick question.

Overwintered some mint, oregano, and thyme in bags in 7a.

They survived and are growing back, but there’s no flavor in the mint, and I’m worried about the same for the other two (they’re still too small to tell).

Is that… a thing? Like a bad cassette transfer - losing a little something from generation to generation? Should I wait longer into the season, or replace them?

Thanks!
