Tips for nightmare DAI

I played Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 when I was younger (man, I’m really getting old if I can say that confidently now 😂). I loved both games, and now I’m finally back on Dragon Age: Inquisition going for the platinum.

I have actually beaten Inquisition once before, but that was back when the game first came out, so I only somewhat remember what happens. I do already have certain choices and outcomes I’m aiming for this run though.

Right now I’m playing a pretty basic human male sword-and-shield build. So far Nightmare hasn’t been too stressful. I found a few guides and builds for both my main character and companions, but I’m mainly looking for tips on how to get the most out of the game.

I should point out I don’t have the DLC yet. PlayStation had the Deluxe Edition on sale, so I grabbed that first. I wanted to get through most of the story — or at least make it to Act 2 — before buying the DLC.

So any tips, tricks, hidden mechanics, or even useful glitches are welcome. Also, I’m open to romance suggestions since I honestly can’t remember who I picked back then.
