I was sad to learn Scout Harding didn't feel like she was friends with the Inquisitor when playing Veilguard

I was thinking about Dragon Age this morning as one does and remembered something that made me sad in Veilguard. One of the earlier conversations you have with Scout Harding is her talking about being lonely and not feeling like she was friends with the Inquisitor or part of their group.

When I was playing Inquisition Harding was very much a friend amd part of the group.

She was the first person we talked to going to a new zone. We always talked with her when we were at Skyhold. If I could I would have swapped Sarah out for her in a heartbeat.

So its sad to know Scout Harding didn't feel the same

Elven Lamp from Dragon Age Veilguard

Took a couple months and a lot of procrastination but it’s finally done! Used a 3D printer and modeled some sections out. Initial concept was using the magnetic coils to get the full floating effect but that would’ve taken a bit too long so i went with the single light instead!

What is your go to name for the dog in Origins?

What is everyones go to name for the dog in Origins? A name you use almost every single playthrough no matter what you choose to play as.

Mine is Korven. It is the Swedish name for sausage. As the dog looks a bit like a sausage to me.

Evanuris in the prison

I am replaying the games, I miss them.

Back at DAV and it got me thinking:

Do you think the prison Solas had them in allowed them to interact or talk to each other? Were they conscious of each other and if so, when a Blight ended with a dead Archdemon, did they witness the other gods die or vanish? What do you think it was like for them?

Finished my 3rd "Full" playthrough and I have some thoughts'..... DA:TV

I finished my 3rd complete playthough and even with that said, I have Issues...

I bought the game a launch and be damned I'm going to get my money's worth!! LOL!

The thing that help"Me" these last 3 times was not to play it as a "Dragon Age" game, but just as... "The Veilguard!" I know, easier said than done!

I simply just focused on my Rooks Faction Background! (I Call it Mental Gymnastics!)

This playthrough I played Warden Cyanna "Rook" Thorne. The 1st and 2nd playthroughs I was

a Shadow Dragon and then a Antivan Crow. I played a Mage and romanced Neve in all three.

I really found that if I focused on being a Shadow Dragon, Antivan Crow or Grey Warden, it helped me deal with the stuff that was keeping me from finishing the 1st 6 times I tried earlier!

Out of these 3, I think being a Grey Warden Rook felt "almost" like the Best way to play??? Well at least it did for me! LOL!

I just wish that Bioware had included some kind of "Scene", like in DA:I where they make you Inquisitor, also a similar kind of scene in Veilguard. I have some ideas on that, but games done, doesn't really matter at this point.

That being said, it's stuff like this that has me so frustrated with this game! It's NOT what's in the game, but what they left or cut out!

EA/Bioware left out basically all the Legacy Characters, except for a few and even those created the very "Player head-canon" issues that they told us they wanted to avoid!!!

I could go on, but this is already getting to long. If anyone has any ? to ask about my feelings/issues with the game, feel free to ask...

I do like the game, but it could have so much more. Definitely a Love/hate relationship!!

Good Day my Friends!!

Idea for smaller in scope Dragon Age game - The Thaig Beneath The Sea

Idea for possible future Dragon Age game - The Thaig Beneath The Sea

I think one direction for a future DA game could be for it to be smaller in scope. Centred on one location in the world. With only a couple of dozen characters at most. Maybe an average of 50ish hours of playtime.

This would have the benefit of being able to have a tighter focus on narrative and character arcs etc. And in meta terms would likely work out cheaper and easier to create thus being less a risk from the studios perspective.

Do you agree with the idea of a smaller in scope game being a good way forward?

If so what stories, characters, area of the world or lore etc. would you want to see it focus on?

I think some of the best parts of the franchise are when we've had a whole section of a game or a DLC etc focus on just delving into a set place and exploring etc. while uncovering a mystery or such.

One idea I had is as follows:

The Thaig Beneath The Sea

Based on the tidbit we learn in DAV where someone mentions encountering a deep road path that seems to go underneath the sea.

It would be centred on an expedition to explore this potential pathway and see where it leads.

It would eventually lead to a forgotten thaig that is underneath the sea floor.

Gameplay wise there would be some form of enemies and such for fights etc. However I would favour the story being structured as a sort of detective/investigation fic. As such more time would be spent investigating and finding answers rather than fighting all the time. So it would have new gameplay mechanics where we investigate the thaig and find clues as to how it was built and when. Why it was abandoned. What happened here.

Basically uncover the mystery as much as we can.

I go back and forth on what I would want the big mystery to be. I'd favour it having been built as a trade spot originally between Thedas and the lands beyond the sea but then having become a refuge from some previous big world event or threat as that way the game could work in some interesting lore tidbits about said history/threat etc.

If it went in this direction it could also have evidence in the thaig of people having travelled from Thedas and the lands beyond the sea.

Other plot points could be a mystery around who organised the expedition and why. Motivations of expedition members not being the same. Some work for different factions etc.

Ending wise I would want it to end on a cliff hanger where we either get a brief glimpse of the lands beyond the sea or we encounter some barrier blocking our progress for now...

The next step on the path (DA series)

Hi!

I am currently writing my thesis and I have a hell of a nostalgia - thinking about Dragon Age: Origins and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I think both of these are in top 5 games ever made.

To get to my point - what do you think DA series has in the future? Do you think, there will ever be DA 5 or remaster of Origins?

The lore changed and I really miss that mysterioes and DARK atmosphere of the first game. I wish there was a new hero (or hell, even Hero of Ferelden can make a comeback after finding the cure to the Teint) and we explore the WHOLE world. Beyond the seas, with new stuff to find. I don't want to hate on Veilguard, I am planning on playing it and I loved 2 and Inquisition - but you gotta admit, Bioware has fallen (thanks to EA) from their grace a bit. KotOR 1 + 2, Mass Effect 1-3 and DA series are really great, but the new games lack something... I don't know, magical.

Maybe it's just my vibe and nostalgia speaking but I am curious to know your thoughts.

Thank you and I wish a nice day to everyone.

Conversation with Solas about the Inquisition

Hello, I've been trying to find this exact conversation with Solas where he asks you what you'll do with the Inquisition once your current objective is over. If you say you'll disband it he'll say that the power you’ve amassed can’t be destroyed, and will only pass to less worthy hands if you relinquish it. Any kind souls can point me to it or remembers after which event it takes place?

What’s an assumption you were 100% wrong on?

I’ll start: I saw the Temple of Sacred Ashes go up and I immediately yelled, “Damn it, Anders!”

If we ever get another DA game do you think it will take place in the same era?

In hypothetical world where even the smallest hint of another mainline dragon age game isn’t fifteen years away where in timeline do you think the writers would put it?

So much happened in happened in a relatively short time span in the Dragon Age.

The mage vs templar conflict

A cure for tranquility possibly being released to the masses

The worst and last blight known to man caused by three elven gods

And bunch of other minor and major details that would be incredibly hard to follow in a sequel. Do you think the next game would be set so far off the series would be effectively soft rebooted?

Two Handed Champion tips?(Inquisition)

Hello! I plan on possibly starting a new game after around four years of not playing and wanted to try something a little different. Every time I've played Warrior I've done Reaver but I sort of want to try and Champion using two handed weapons, probably on Nightmare.

Any build suggestions?

[Spoilers All] The origin of humans in Thedas

One of the things i've always wondered about Dragon Age was the origins of the human species and the recent lore we learned about the origins of elves, dwarves and to an extent the Qunari made me remember my old theories I came up with a few years back.

Years ago, while playing DAO, I kept wondering about a banter between Shale and Sten. In it, Sten mocks humans and compares them directly to the monkeys of Par Vollen.

  • Sten: We have creatures on Par Vollen that are similar. The humans call them "monkeys". They are dull, cowardly vermin. They cry out shrilly when threatened and throw their own feces.
  • Shale: That is an excellent comparison. I wonder if they are related?
  • Sten: Possibly.

What seemed like a simple joke got me thinking: what if the answer to the origin of humanity in Thedas had been right there all along? I pondered about the lore and developed a theory about how humans, or their ancestors were there all along. It chronologically explains how humans emerged without the ancient elves ever noticing, in Par Vollen (and maybe the Donarks or further north).

The historical records of Thedas say that the first known human tribes (like the Neromenians) migrated from the far north to the south across the ocean. Par Vollen is a massive, isolated tropical island in the north. I theorize the ancestors of humans evolved there, away from the eyes of the Arlathan empire, or the Titans even before that. Eventually, they developed primitive boats and crossed the sea. The monkeys Sten mentions would be the evolutionary relatives that stayed behind on the island.

Human evolution in our world took millions of years, but in Thedas, I believe the process was accelerated. Before Solas created the Veil, the Fade and the physical world were one. Ambient magic worked as an active force of nature. While elves and Titans fought wars on the main continent, the primates in the far north were influenced by this raw energy. This "radiation" from the Fade acted as a biological accelerator, skipping evolutionary eras to reach the Homo Sapiens stage in a fraction of the time.

There would be precedent for this as it is theorized, in-universe, that magic "leaking" through the thinning Veil makes spiders grow to monstrous sizes. The same ones we see in the games. Why don't the elves of Elvhenan mention humans in their oldest records? Because humans probably only reached a sapient and tribal stage exactly at the end of the Elvhenan era or during the first centuries after the Veil.

When Solas created the Veil, the elven gods were locked away, and elven civilization collapsed while dealing with sudden aging. It was into this power vacuum that humans sailed down from the north. They found a weakened empire, which allowed humans to spread rapidly and eventually found Tevinter.

If this theory is correct, humans possess the most unique identity in Dragon Age:

  • Elves were born from Fade spirits that took physical form.
  • Dwarves were born from their connection to the Titans.
  • Qunari show strong signs of lab-engineered blood/dragon modification.

Humans would be the only race truly born from the planet's own biological evolution, boosted by the magic of the ancient world. Let me know what you all think, and if you have theories of your own about this. I've thought of this back in the DAI days but never put it into a cohesive theory.

Playing DA as a teenager vs as an Adult

Hello people, good day.

Sooo I played DA saga when I was in highschool, and suffice to say I was marvelled, the choices, the characters man 10/10.

But now as an adult I finished again and I have some different thoughts, some characters that were my Ride or die, like Alistair, now I just find annoying and childish, and characters that I couldn't stand, like Ohgren, I can understand them.

Like playing as a teenager I hated Loghain, with all my might, always offer the dog to Duel him, just to mock him haha.

Now as an adult I kinda get him.......and idiot glory seeker king, dies and not only that, planned to hand ferelden back to Orlais......

Now my question is, to you guys who did the same, what changed when you played as a teenager and now as an adult.

You can finally have both Alistair and Loghain on PC version of DAO.

Finally finished this mod, a lot of videos are also available on mod page. No AI and even some cut content restored!
