Roleplay/in-universe reasons for why the throne and nobles would allow the Warden to keep Cailan's armor and Maric's sword

What roleplaying/in-universe reason do you think there is for why the Ferelden nobility would allow them to keep something which belonged to their beloved past two kings (besides "gameplay"), especially if you've played a Warden who kept Cailan's armor and Maric's blade, either for yourself or for your companions?

Should I stick with personal feelings or internal consistency in my playthroughs?

Around the time Veilguard came out, I played the game with a certain series of events from the previous games I had played in mind, thinking it would definitely be my canon:

  • Dwarf Noble Warden who recruits Loghain, marries Alistair to Anora and performs the Dark Ritual.
  • Pro-mage male Rogue Hawke w/Warden Bethany.
  • Inquisitor Adaar who leaves Loghain in the Fade in HLTA and makes Leliana Divine.

And in order to explore choices that I would usually never make, I came up with a corresponding alternate playthrough:

  • City Elf Warden who kills Loghain, makes Alistair sole ruler and performs the Ultimate Sacrifice.
  • Pro-Templar female Mage Hawke w/Templar Carver.
  • Inquisitor Trevelyan who leaves Hawke in the Fade in HLTA and makes Vivienne Divine.

The idea for my mage Hawke was to make her a Vivienne-esque figure who actively seeks power and influence in Kirkwall, even if it meant working with the Templars, and her becoming Viscount would work as a sort of precedent for Vivienne becoming Divine. Plus, Stroud would not just show up out of nowhere in Act 2 the way he does if Carver/Bethany doesn’t become a Warden.

(Note: I prefer making Bethany a Warden and Carver a Templar not only because of the class specialisations that they get from Act 2 onward but because my non-mage Hawke isn’t going to leave her in the city to be caught by the Templars, and my mage Hawke decides to leave Carver behind in case something happens on the expedition.)

Some time later I began to have doubts about this particular setup, partly because of the in-universe ban on mages holding noble titles in southern Ferelden, partly because I discovered a liking for the chemistry between Carver and male Hawke (particularly in the voice acting between Nico Lennon and Nicholas Boulton), partly because, in Origins, I feel like a hypocrite becoming friends with Alistair and yet denying him revenge on Loghain while encouraging Leliana to take revenge on Marjolaine, and partly because, in Origins, I found that many of the alternate/evil choices I made or planned to make (killing Connor, saving Irving but siding with the Templars, killing the werewolves, keeping the Anvil of the Void, destroying Amaranthine, etc.) were somewhat easier to do as a Dwarf Noble.

So, I came up with a new canon playthrough:

  • Elf Circle Mage Warden who lets Alistair kill Loghain and performs the Dark Ritual.
  • Pro-mage male Mage Hawke w/Templar Carver.
  • Inquisitor Adaar who leaves Alistair in the Fade in HLTA and makes Leliana Divine.

And a new alternate playthrough:

  • Dwarf Noble Warden who kills/recruits Loghain, makes Anora sole ruler and has Alistair/Loghain perform the Ultimate Sacrifice.
  • Pro-Templar female Rogue Hawke w/Warden Bethany.
  • Inquisitor Trevelyan who leaves Stroud in the Fade in HLTA and makes Cassandra Divine.

Should fix all my issues, right? Well, I thought so too. However, I‘m very attached to the Dwarf Noble origin, as it was the first origin I ever beat the game as, and playing the game while making the exact same if not similar choices (especially romancing Leliana) as different origins - namely Dalish Elf and Dwarf Commoner and an unfinished Elf Circle Mage run - did not feel the same to me, like trying to fit square pegs into a circle.

Now, why am I telling you all of this? Because I keep going back to this issue of whether or not I should go with the canon I first came up with and am more familiar with but at the cost of internal consistency. That’s the kind of person I am and the kind of things that I get hung up on, given how my mind works.

Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If, in DA2, the Hawke family could be elves or dwarves, how would you write them?

Obviously it would require some major changea in the storyline, but I think with a bit of rewriting the main story beats could still work somewhat. How I would do it is this way:

Elf Hawke

Instead of trying to get into Hightown, the Hawkes would be trying to get enough wealth to either have a stable/comfortable life in the alienage, or move out of the alienage without (hopefully) being driven out again by the humans.

Dwarf Hawke

The family would still be trying to get into Hightown, but since dwarves can’t be mages, Malcolm and Bethany would instead have a penchant for enchantment, similar to Sandal. If dwarf Bethany is not taken on the Deep Roads expedition, she goes to the Gallows, either under threat of force by the Templars and mages who want her skills for their own use, or willingly as a way to earn money for the family when it seems like Hawke and Varric won’t be coming back.

But that’s just how I would do it. How would you do it? Any thoughts?

DAO installation questions

After my latest Dragon Age detox, I've gotten the idea to reinstall the game, but I have a few questions before I commit due to a few factors - whether to install the game via Steam or GOG, the game constantly crashing and being a big resource hog.

  1. People who play Origins via GOG, especially recent ones, did you end up needing to install to 4GB patch? I ask because, earlier this year, I tried installing DAO via GOG Galaxy, and despite people saying that it wouldn't need the 4GB patch, I ended up having to install it to stop the game from crashing at Ostagar, and for The Darkspawn Chronicles to not crash during the Palace District section. Does it make a difference whether you install the game via GOG Galaxy or via the offline installer?

  2. The main save games are saved in the Bioware folder in C drive (C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters). My D drive, where all my Steam games are installed, has much more room, and I was wondering if there is a way to make it so that the files are saved to the D drive instead.

The closest idea I have is one found in this 9 year old post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/687fc4/dao_spoilers_how_to_change_where_the_game_stores/

>I deleted all the content in "C:\Users\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age" and ran the command: C:\WINDOWS\system32>mklink /J "C:\Users\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age" "D:\Dragon Age Files\Bioware"

  1. For the issue of setting affinity, I came across a method from this 7 year old post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/bglx3d/no_spoilers_dao_constant_crashing/

"If you don't want to repeat this every time you launch the game you can follow these instructions:

  • close the game
  • go to

\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship

  • right click on ' DAOrigins.exe '
  • select ' Send to ' and ' Desktop (create a shortcut) '
  • go back to your Desktop and right click on that shortcut
  • select ' Properties '
  • delete everything you see in the ' Target ' line
  • copy and paste this there

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 DAOrigins.exe

  • click Apply and click Ok

You can now use this shortcut to launch your game and it will automatically set the affinity of the executable to use only one core."

Would/does this method work, in both Steam and GOG?

TWD fanmade Google Maps is down/gone

A fanmade map that showed locations in the Walking Dead shows, comics and Telltale games (https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1An7kOt82sPILL\_ViiIqEfFymWpw&ll=31.943615929363183%2C-82.03722380738702&z=8) is down or gone. I clicked on the link yesterday and the following message came up:

"Unavailable

This map is no longer available because it was moved to the trash. Please contact the owner to restore access."

I just thought I'd let people know.

Advice for someone going blind into Pathfinder: Kingmaker?

I've recently bought Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous because I've heard good things about them. I know next-to-nothing about these games and the Pathfinder franchise, and I'd like to enjoy the games as blind as possible, but I have heard that it's set in a similar universe to and/or follows similar rules to Baldur's Gate, which I also only have a passing knowledge of. My main fantasy RPG series for the past few years has been Dragon Age. Will that affect my mindset going into this?

Any (polite) advice for a newbie going in blind would be greatly appreciated.

Cut dialogue from Vince's Story

Four months ago, InColdBlood posted a new video about the beta version of the 400 Days DLC (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWalkingDeadGame/comments/1q8oouk/incoldblood_is_back_with_new_cut_content/), and after watching it, I wrote down the most unique cut dialogue from Vince's Story.

Section 1 (original introduction):

>Danny: Hey, Carter! Man, what’s this kid’s name?
Carter (aka Clyde) the bus driver: What’d I tell you ‘bout yellin’ on my bus, boy?
Vince: Vincent.
Danny: Vincent?
Vince: It’s long for Vince.
Danny: Oh, Vince! Hey, alright, man, how you doin’, Vince? Vince, what are you in for? Drugs, right? I heard one of the CO’s say it was drugs. ‘Cause if you got the hook up on the outside, you’re gonna have an easier ride on the inside.

(Stay silent option):

>Danny: Oh, come on, man. Don’t leave me hangin’ here.
Justin: You know what they say about quiet guys.
Danny: They get their shit beat in, right?

1st option:

>Vince: I don’t really give a shit.
Danny: Yeah? What makes you better than us, huh, bud?
Vince: I am too good for you.
Danny: Come on, man, look around. Ain’t no one here gonna judge you. State of Georgia did that already.

2nd option:

>Vince: My little brother was a meth addict. Last year, he bought a bag from a bad batch. Cut with some kind of shit that was toxic. Killed him. So I got a gun and I went down to the corner that the guy who sold it to him dealt from and I shot the motherfucker dead. So yeah, you could say it was drugs.
Danny: Oh, shit. That was you? I read about that. Didn’t some corner boy get shot too?
Vince: He was no little kid. He was a year older than my brother, and he was a runner for the dealer. And he got in my way.
Danny: Damn, man, that’s cold.
Vince: Thought you weren’t gonna judge.
Danny: Hey, I'm just saying. Everyone's gotta make a living.

Section 2 (Danny's original/additional crime):

>Justin: So… you and Jerry rob a bank or what?
Danny: Couldn’t find a job when I got back and the VA screwed me on my benefits. What am I supposed to do? Only thing the corps taught me is how to use a gun. Know what I mean?

Section 3 (expansion on Danny's actual crime):

>Danny: Tell you what, I’m gonna miss being out in this heat. Rollin’ through town with the top down on a day like this? Nothin’ better.
Justin: You probably shouldn’t have been messing with another girl, then, or whatever you did.
Danny: Hey, I’m not a criminal. That girl lied, just like you. See what I’m saying.
Justin: You’re a sex offender, Danny. It’s fine. I’m sure you’ll have plenty of company when we get there.
Vince: You were convicted, Danny.
Danny: She would have been legal in four fuckin’ months, man. And we didn’t even do anything. There wasn’t a single witness. Her dad found out we were seein' each other and pressed charges. What am I supposed to do? I'm innocent, you know?

>Danny: See, here’s the thing – women can’t resist me, man.
Justin: Ha. I rest my case.
Danny: I’m serious. This kind of shit happens all the time, and I always get the blame.
Justin: Oh, come on. You were convicted on like, five counts. You can't even count that high.
Danny: Bullshit, watch this! One, two, five.
Justin: Whatever, man.
Vince: Was she conscious at least?
Danny: We were drunk! You ever get drunk and done something you regret? She did that, and then she lied to her fuckin’ boyfriend! And now here I am, tied to you assholes.
Vince: Rape is rape, man. Drinkin’ ain’t an excuse.
Danny: Whatever, man. I didn’t rape nobody.

Misc quotes:

>Justin: Three? You robbed three banks and I’m the one who’s greedy?
Vince: This is taking forever.
