Full Text:

"I feel at home in Moscow"

You adapted very quickly to Russia and became one of the indispensable names for Spartak Moscow. How do you feel?

"I feel really good, thank you. I adapted to life in Moscow very quickly, I earned the trust of the technical staff, and I am playing regularly. That is what a footballer wants most. Spartak is a giant club with a deep history and big goals. It pushes you to be a better player every day. The adaptation process was not easy. There was a new language, a different climate, and a league that is physically and tactically much tougher than it looks from the outside.

Today, I truly feel at home here. My goal is very clear: to make significant contributions to the team and help the club win trophies. The thing that upsets me the most right now is the injury I suffered. I was injured in the Russian Cup final, and because of that, I couldn't play for the Ghana National Team in the World Cup. It is truly painful for a footballer to watch such a big organization from the sidelines. Despite this, I am proud. I am proud of my teammates and of having represented Ghana. I support them with all my heart and will continue to work every day to return even stronger."

"Leaving Fenerbahçe was emotionally very difficult for me"

How did the process of leaving Fenerbahçe develop? Was this your decision or the club's?

"Leaving Fenerbahçe was emotionally very difficult for me because I was truly very attached to this club. When the club entered a new sporting structure, my role changed quite quickly. Of course, as a player who had given his all for the club and was so attached to Fenerbahçe, it took time to accept this.

However, that is the nature of football, and I fully respect the decisions made. During that process, Spartak made me feel that they really trusted me, and I decided to take this opportunity. Today, I don’t hold a grudge against anyone. I am grateful for everything I experienced at Fenerbahçe and proud to have left this club with my head held high."

"Leadership is not won by talking, but by showing it every day"

You are 31, and you have played in France, Turkey, and Russia. What kind of leader are you in the locker room?

"Leadership doesn't come by saying 'I am a leader.' You have to prove it with your actions every day. I captained Strasbourg for two seasons. Today, I am the vice-captain of the Ghana National Team. These responsibilities always teach you to think of the team before yourself. On the field, I try to be an example for my teammates. Positioning correctly, organizing the defense, communicating constantly, guiding my friends, and staying calm in the most difficult moments are important to me. Off the field, leadership means being an example in training, always supporting young players, and displaying a consistent character when the team is going through difficult periods. In my opinion, a true leader is not the person who talks the most. It is the person that their teammates can rely on, both on good and bad days."

"I miss Kadıköy, I cannot deny that"

Do you miss Kadıköy? Do you have a message for the Fenerbahçe fans?

"Kadıköy has a very special place in world football. The atmosphere, the passion, and that incredible noise on match days... I will never forget these for the rest of my life. Yes, I miss it. It wouldn't be honest to say otherwise. I lived some of the best moments of my career there and scored some of my most unforgettable goals in that stadium. The first thing that comes to mind is the volley goal I scored against Rangers in Europe. It is a goal I will never forget in my life.

I owe a lot to the fans who allowed me to experience these memories. From the first day, they embraced me and made me feel that I was truly valued. A part of me will always remain a Fenerbahçe fan."

"İsmail Kartal gave me freedom and confidence"

You probably played the best football of your career under İsmail Kartal. How would you describe him and the relationship between you?

"İsmail Kartal is a true football person. He knows very well how to communicate with his players, how to build a strong team spirit, and how to provide the environment of trust where his footballers can play without fear. Under his management, I felt safe, I played freely, and I was able to display my best football. The relationship between us was built on mutual respect and honesty. I feel great gratitude toward him, and I am truly very happy that he returned to Fenerbahçe. He is a person who deserves such moments very much."

"Not being champions after getting 99 points is one of the most painful experiences of my career"

Fenerbahçe finished the season with 99 points under İsmail Kartal, but Galatasaray became champions. How would you describe that season?

"We got 99 points, but we still couldn't become champions... This remained as one of the most painful experiences of my career. We were a truly extraordinary team that season. We had formed a team that played brave football, delighted those who watched, and was incredibly consistent. I am proud of what we achieved. But at the same time, there will always be a feeling inside me that our story remained unfinished. Football is sometimes like this. You do more than you can, you have a season that could be considered historic, but still, it is not enough. We accepted this with maturity."

"Working with Jose Mourinho was a great experience"

Then Jose Mourinho came to the team. What was your relationship with 'The Special One' like?

"Working with Jose Mourinho means learning things from one of the greatest coaches in football history. There is no escaping that. The daily work pace, his approach to big matches, and his winning culture were a very valuable experience for me. I will always remember everything I learned from him. It didn't surprise me at all that he became the manager of Real Madrid again. He is a coach that the world's biggest clubs will always want.

I am happy that I had the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho. He is one of the greatest football managers in history, and working with him was very valuable for me. His mentality, the importance he gives to details, and his culture geared toward winning are qualities that every footballer can take as an example. I wish both him and Fenerbahçe success."

"The thing I miss most is our team spirit"

Who was the teammate you enjoyed playing with the most at Fenerbahçe? Who were you closest to?

"It is impossible to name just one name because our locker room was full of great characters. If I look at it from a football perspective, I really enjoyed playing with players like Dušan Tadić, Edin Džeko, Leonardo Bonucci, Fred, and Milan Škriniar. They were players who raised the level of the entire team.

Personally, I became very close friends with Allan Saint-Maximin, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Youssef En-Nesyri, Jayden Oosterwolde, Michy Batshuayi, and Sebastian Szymański. I can also never forget the Turkish players who supported me greatly in adapting to Turkey: Mert Hakan Yandaş, İsmail Yüksek, İrfan Can Kahveci, and Ferdi Kadıoğlu. But to be completely honest, the thing I miss most is not the individual players; it is the team spirit and the environment of friendship we created together."

"The atmosphere of the derbies in Kadıköy is unforgettable"

Do you have a special moment from your Fenerbahçe career, from matches or training, that you cannot forget?

"Actually, the thing that stays in my mind is not my goals, but the atmosphere. To walk onto the pitch at Kadıköy in an Istanbul derby and feel the whole stadium shaking under your feet... You cannot forget this feeling for the rest of your life. We also lived unforgettable nights in Europe. But if I had to choose a single moment, I would say those big match evenings in Kadıköy. These are moments one can never forget for a lifetime."

"Ali Koç is an honest person and a leader who cares about Fenerbahçe"

Ali Koç lost the presidential elections held last September. How was your relationship with him, and how would you describe him?

"Ali Koç was the president who brought me to Fenerbahçe, and for this reason, I will always have great respect and gratitude toward him. He is a passionate man who sincerely loves his club. As for the political side of club life... Elections and internal issues. I don't think it is my place to comment on this. The thing I will remember about Ali Koç is the honest person I knew and how deeply he cares for Fenerbahçe..."

[Soap] WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE HEATED DEBATE AT THE CLUBS ASSOCIATION MEETING

👤 Yüksel Yıldırım: Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and Beşiktaş, you are getting free land from the state and making a fortune by selling these lands.

👤 Mahmut Uslu: We did not receive free land from the state. Do not confuse us with Galatasaray.

👤 Yüksel Yıldırım: This is not the "Canary Lovers Association" (referencing Fenerbahçe). Know your limits.

👤 Barış Göktürk: Speak respectfully to someone older than you. It seems nobody has ever beaten you up until now. I will beat you up in front of everyone here. I will break your mouth and nose.

After these statements, Yüksel Yıldırım responded to Göktürk, and the argument suddenly escalated.

👤 Barış Göktürk: I am also from Sivas. My son is American. But I am not a "devşirme" (convert/turncoat) like you. My father's name is also Yüksel, but he is not a "devşirme" like you. Behave yourself, or I will bury you here.

Serdar Adalı, Ertuğrul Doğan, and Abdullah Kavukçu intervened and lowered the rising tension in the meeting. They escorted Yüksel Yıldırım out of the hall, and the meeting was paused.
