A shoutout to this omnipresent ahjussi 👍🏻

Kim Won-Hae is easily the supporting actor who has featured in most of the dramas I have watched.

Be it the ML’s boss in Awaken and Good Manager, or his >!fake father!< in The Apartment Job, just to name the most recent I’ve watched, and variety of other characters he has played in so many other dramas, he always gets the job done 👍🏻

Hoping for many more performances to come!

The best fight scene I’ve watched (Twenty Five - Twenty One)

Na hee do attacking that guy with an umbrella 😂😂

That scene sold the drama to me.

I might have watched it a dozen times already and it always brings a smile to my face 😄😄

The Apartment Job : Closing thoughts

If I have to review this in one sentence: this show was time well spent 👍🏻

A gangster out to con a residential society eventually ends up helping them and becomes a hero: this reminded me of Good Manager and that was one reason I started watching this.

The >!fake family!< is a delight to watch; every member playing their part to become an effective cohesive unit. My favourite supporting character still remains Moon So Ri’s ahjumma, closely followed by “The Lizard” ahjussi. They’re both fun to watch.

The weakest character for me is the antagonist. I got the feeling they tried to write him on the lines of Taecyeon’s villain in Vincenzo, but where Taec was truly menacing, the character here comes off more as annoying to me. For the >!crimes he commits, he should be a lot more intimidating, but he isn’t.!<

I loved both the leads, especially her. While I’m content with how it ends for them, >!I would’ve enjoyed a romantic conclusion as well.!<

All in all, an engaging watch. A 9/10 for me.

My Dearest : If this were a modern drama instead of a Sageuk

Lee Jang-Hyeon and Yoo Gil-Chae would’ve met in high school?

We would’ve had a past connection trope well. And there might have been bullying we’d have had to witness.

They grow up and meet again, like they must in drama-world?

And what else?

One of them getting drunk and the other carrying them home?

And one of them saving the other from the white truck of doom?

Of course, there’s the one-sided obsession in the form of a chaebol heiress who wants the ML for herself.

(Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin look great in uniforms, though).

This is what happens when you’re addicted to a certain someone…

This is exactly the conversation I had with my mother when I was binging through Namkoong Min’s dramas one after the other ☺️😂

Who else can relate to it?

And which actor did you addictively watch dramas of?

Parfums de Marly Cassili : Pretty bottle, but that’s all I could appreciate in it 😒

I’d been wanting to try this for ages, and finally got to sample it when I was store hopping recently.

I was eager, all certain that I would like it, ready to grab a full bottle, but it all went downhill for me in the dry-down 😒

The fragrance:

The opening is juicy and delicious. I get more of plum than peach, which I’m okay with. Sweet and sour, it was just perfect and raised my expectations.

But as the fruity euphoria wore off, I was left with a makeup-ey powdery middle that only got cloying as time passed. I didn’t get any vanilla in the base, just a dominant Tonka and a glimpse of sandalwood.

The notes are all to my liking, but I ended up with a severe migraine a few hours after spraying this. I guess the Tonka was too much for me.

The Performance :

If you like this fragrance, it’s good news for you: two test sprays of this lasted for about 6-7 hours for me. Projects well as well.

Conclusion:

Not my cup of tea because I had to go home and wash it off thanks to the unbearable headache it triggered. So definitely try it if you like the notes on paper. Not a safe blind buy, for sure.

(Photo is courtesy google. I don’t own a bottle).

Forest Essentials Rose & Cardamom : One of the best mists I own 🌹

Good morning, ladies, and Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳

I thought I’ll post a review of my favourite Indian fragrance brand on this occasion today.

This rose mist has been a go-to fragrance for me for years; this is my second bottle, and it is something I’ll keep repurchasing.

The fragrance :

Anyone who is familiar with my reviews would know that I’m a rose lover. This is one of my favourite notes; one that I have explored more than anything else. The FE mist is one of the most well-blended rose scents I’ve smelled.

It says rose and cardamom, and it gives you exactly that. It’s a lush sweet rose; like a sweetened rose water, with just the right amount of sweetness. The cardamom adds an exotic spicy flavour to it. As we go on, it acquires a slight powdery quality that balances the denseness of the rose and prevents it from getting cloying or suffocating.

The performance :

Par excellence for a mist. I keep saying this: FE mists are ridiculously expensive, but they’re as good as most EDTs. This one, like the others, easily lasts about 6+ hours for me.

Conclusion :

A definite recommendation if you enjoy rose fragrances 🌹

An attorney and a prosecutor butting horns in court? How about Ji Sung & Namkoong Min?

I’ve been watching The Apartment Job and Ji Sung is so good, like he always is.

I always watch a bit of Namkoong Min every day, and he has stolen my kdrama consciousness ❤️

What if these two men get together on screen? How about legal drama with one of them as a prosecutor and the other as an attorney?

Or any other genre?

I would love to see these two veterans share screen-space.

If only…

Favourite supporting character of this season | The Apartment Job

As much as I adore the ahjussis from Agent Kim, this ahjumma from The Apartment Job has quietly become my favourite.

She was >!annoying as the nosy neighbour in the beginning but now!< I simply adore her 🤗

Moon So Ri is just brilliant.

Who’s your favourite supporting character this season?

Who here wanted to see more of these two?

Wang Tao Zi and Madam Lim: the ship that almost sailed. (quite literally 😂)

Those who’ve watched Taxi Driver would need no introduction to these two.

If there’s a season 4, I would love to see her again, and him, take on this avatar again.

Who else feels the same?

Xerjoff Lira - Revised opinion : Decant vs Full bottle

I had reviewed a decant of this over a year ago. While the fragrance was love at first sniff, I complained about the performance back then and said I wouldn’t recommend it.

Two months back, after running out of my decant, I splurged and went all the way for a full bottle, and I have a different opinion this time compared to my first review.

The fragrance : This continues to be the best lemony-vanilla fragrance I’ve tried. I loved this from the beginning, but went about trying many because I was hesitating to get a full bottle of this due to the poor performance I perceived from my decant. But nothing else came even close and my hunt ended with me deciding to pick up a full bottle of this itself.

It’s a lovely airy candy-ish citrus in the opening. Gets slightly spicy as it goes.

In the dry-down, it is soft, creamy and just the right amount of sweet with the caramel, among the best vanilla perfumes I own. Just like my decant, this new bottle is the most delicious lemon pastry I’ve smelled.

In my decant, the lemon note used to fade away quickly, whereas with this bottle, it stays for much longer. I don’t know if it’s been reformulated and that’s the reason.

Another difference from the decant is that the dry-down is heavier, in a good way.

The Performance: A far cry from my decant, it lasts well into the evening when I apply it early morning. Projection is also better compared to the decant. Again, I don’t know if it’s because of a reformulation.

Conclusion: This full bottle of mine is way better than the decant I purchased first in almost every way. The best lemon-vanilla fragrance I’ve tried (and I’ve tried quite a few, Devotion included), this is among the best if you like that DNA. I would absolutely recommend it.

The Ordinary Jackpot : Coming in Sep’26

I was just reminded of this upcoming show on my Instagram feed.

An office employee winning a lottery… sounds interesting. And I like Lee Jun-Hyuk.

Would you be up for watching this?

The Husband : Final thoughts on the finale

<<Please use spoiler tags in case you’re posting spoilers in the comments. Thank you>>

This team of four talented actors should take a bow. They’ve put up a great show.

This is one of those stories that’s not fast paced, yet, it has that edge-of-the-seat quality to it. Well paced as the story unravels in phases, it balances suspense, thrill and emotions well. Of course, a few things could’ve been done better. The main case is all wrapped up neatly at the close. But there are some points which have been left unaddressed.

I’m a little disappointed with the end, but it feels realistic, so I’ll take it. Anything else would’ve felt out of place, so despite that dissatisfaction, I’ll recommend it.

As a Namkoong Min fan, this was a treat for me. His choice of script works for me yet again. Of course, his performance is, as always, A+++

For those watching this show, have you watched the last episode? For those who haven’t started it, do you plan to watch it?

The Apartment Job : Loving the dynamic between the leads

When it comes to lead pairs and the romance or the lack thereof between them, I’m quite critical.

I couldn’t feel the chemistry between these two at the beginning, but they grew on me and now I adore every scene with these two.

They’re cute together. Their budding romance is nicely done, a side plot, just the way I like it.

And that’s what is endearing about them.

I don’t know whether they’ll take the full-on romantic route with these two, but I’ll be rooting for them ❤️

What are you watching this weekend?

I have a bunch of dramas on my plate, but for this weekend I picked these four:

The Husband :

I’m waiting for the last episode to drop tonight after which I’ll watch the last two back to back. This is one of the two dramas I’m enjoying the most.

The Apartment Job :

I started it for Ji Sung, went in without expectations, and this has exceeded my expectations. I’ll be watching the 10th episode as soon as it drops tonight. This, along with The Husband, are my top two for this season.

The Veil :

This is a re-watch so it doesn’t really count, but I’ll still add it. My mum’s watching it for the first time and I can’t wait for her to watch them put the pieces of the puzzle together 😊

Agent Kim Reactivated :

I’m having mixed feelings about this show. I finished episode 3 yesterday and I hope to be more regular with this once I’m done with The Husband.

What have you been watching this weekend? And which one are you enjoying the most?

(PS: As you can see, gorgeous men over 40 are my pick for this season 😉)

“Back” Yi-Jin, pleased to meet you 🤝

I’m trying hard not to nitpick too much on Netflix’s subtitles, but Baek Yi-Jin turning into Back Yi-Jin is a little too much, isn’t it?

This is honestly almost ruining Twenty Five Twenty One for me 😡

What are some of the subtitle mishaps for you? Do such errors or mis-translations put you off the show?

I prefer Viki for this reason, but that’s not an option with the Netflix or Disney+ exclusives.

Edit: It appears “Back” is an acceptable spelling as well. Since I’m coming across it for the first time in 10 years, it kinda puts me off. Every time I see his name pop up on the screen, I mentally re-spell it 😂

The Veil : Yet again I succeeded in convincing someone to watch a drama with me

I’ve been watching Namkoong Min’s dramas back to back, almost all of them with my mother. The Veil was the only show I watched alone.

Now that we’ve run through most of his other dramas, I decided it’s time to rewatch The Veil. And to drag my dear mum into it since she hasn’t watched it yet.

We sat down for the first episode and our conversation went like this -

Mum goes, “This is the same guy, right?”

Me : “Same guy?”

Mum eyes me with an amused smile. “Your guy.”

I simply smile back and return to watching my guy flexing his muscles and showing off his gorgeous form.

Mum : “I haven’t seen you go this crazy about someone since your crush on Shahrukh Khan when you were in school.”

Me : “That was long back. Now it’s—“

I’m interrupted when THE SCENE in episode 1 comes up, you know, the one where Min’s character, Han Ji Hyuk, goes all out in the gym…

And the conversation is abandoned…

Have you come upon a surprise while watching a drama that made you go… OMO!

I picked up the Namkoong Min cameo episode of Dynamite Kiss just to watch him. I had no clue about the show except that Ahn Eun Jin is the FL.

And when I came upon her and Kim Mu Jun, I went, “Gil-Chae and the Crown Prince! My eyes! MY EYES!”

(Ahn Eun Jin and Kim Mu Jun have played the FL and the crown prince in My Dearest and I had no idea he’s in this drama!😂😂)
