Some sort of a decent mini projector for a casual use

Hi, I am looking for a small, portable projector. A decent one that I could plug in, project on a wall, and use my bluetooth earphones. Something that could project 80-100” on a white’ish wall. I only watch Netflix 4k movies, and shows.

I do have a dedicated home theatre room with an 85” 4K and all that jazz, gear. But want to get something that I could watch in my living room when I don’t want to step into the basement HT room.

Any suggestions please? Budget is about <$300 CAD. I am ok to buy it off the marketplace.

Failed! Revised strategies?

I failed the cert exam. Was scoring the high 70% in my practice ones and QAE’s, watched Pete’s and Nair’s videos.

What should be the strategy now? The exam format though straight forward but a little with confusing answers that made me confused and I think the result reflected that.

Any ideas?

Failed (First Attempt)!

I failed my CISM exam on the first attempt last week. I am yet to receive the official test score. I used Pete Zerger's video series, Prabh Nair's, attempted QAE a few times and understood the questions and rationale well and thought I was quite ready.

Once the first few questions rolled in, I was taken aback and it was quite different than what and how I prepared. Yes, it was more straight forward than the QAE but also a bit in a sense convoluted with some really confusing answers. Tried my best to answer but within half an hour itself I knew for sure that I'd fail. The result didn't surprise me a bit.

When I was preparing for the exam, I felt I was more than ready and had it all in my head. With my background in IT (more than 25 years experience) and in Security/Physical Security/Cybersec compliance for around last 10 years years, I thought I would be in a better position to crack. And yes, I tried my best to answer using Management methodology than technical.

Not demotivated at all, but geared up more than ever to go for the second attempt with a better prep and may be a different strategy.

Any pointers please? Also, is it advisable to book the exam asap given there's a change coming in November? I plan to devote at least a month in studying and targeting the mid September for my second attempt.

Are there any legit and paid focus group research agencies?

I have been part of some paid focus groups and research in the past. I am a career professional, have a keen eye on the current affairs, would like to participate in the paid research or focus groups happening in Vancouver. Any that I could contact and anyone knows of? Just to also supplement my income? Thanks a bunch!

Bollywood movies and the loud BGM (symphony)

I live with parents, and they watch Bollywood movies from the old times all the way to the 90s (mostly the shitty 80s - Shatru, Mithun, Dharamendra, Jitendra’s). Even though they watch it n their own room, but the bgm/symphony echoes in the whole house and annoys the heck out of me. When I ask them politely to keep it down they say they can’t hear the dialogues. It’s been a constant bone of contention and as a result losing my peace of mind. I love my parents immensely and don’t want to bug them or get in the ways of their entertainment. Anyone else also noticed this in the earlier era movies and in their own homes?

Why the makers couldn’t/still can’t keep the bgm low esp during the dialogues?

I only see this phenomena in the Indian movies (Hindi and regional). Hollywood brings the bgm a notch down when they are talking and even otherwise it is way too mellow, soft, and soothing. Why our Bollywood/Indian movies are loud af? May be it reflects the society by and large? It’s the whole media pattern, same with Indian News, TV serials, documentaries, etc.

40M, Want to meet over a friendly coffee? Then off to our ways!

Lately I have been looking for a friendly female connection to sit down with and chit chat over a cup of coffee. Once done with our meet, we take off to our own lives with absolutely no obligation to meet again.

I just want to open up my heart and talk about life, the world in general. May be something is eating you from inside and you want a non-judgemental stranger’s ears. Same here. May be, a sort of therapy over coffee.

As to why then meet only with a woman if that’s the case? Well, I love your stories, a perspective to life from the point of view of the opposite sex, a varied convo, which is different than when we men get together and chat about.

I am an educated, career focussed and professional, sane and sorted, respectful guy, with office in Vancouver. Liberal values and open minded in my demeanour, attitude, and political/social views. Love books, people watch, a black hot coffee, or all three at the same time, lol. A quintessential Vancouverite/Canadian.

Please let me know if interested. Just a friendly meet over coffee.

Thanks for reading.

40 M - Coffee at Brentwood/North Burnaby?

I am around Brentwood. If someone wants to have a coffee this afternoon? And a bit of friendly chit chat? A career professional here, with varied interests in lifelong learning (Cybersec, Tech), Books, Running, Nature, and binging on thriller/suspense/space science shows. Liberal and progressive on the Left spectrum. Respectful, and a learned man.

Looking for friends or two that work around Brentwood for the lunch time walks. I am in office for twice a week and having someone to share a friendly coffee, walks, and chit chats would make office days a bit more interesting. Even if you live around and looking for an excuse to get out then that would awesome too. Thanks!

Finally, booked the exam

After a lot of thought and reviewing the CISM, I finally booked the exam in the first week of August. Have pretty wide experience in IT, and for the past 10 years or so in Physical/Information security. In middle management and aspire to grow, I believe CISM serves me better than CISSP.

Now comes to the prep, I have got the CISM app, some other exam preps with sample questions, and also utilizing AI to throw me random questions. Given my experience and the questions that I did so far, the performance hasn't been too bad. My question is as to what could I refer more in these 50 days? And yes, I am going to take a look at various other sources listed by people in this sub as well.

Thanks. I am excited!

Hi, alone in the office since everyone else is wfh. Bored as hell and the Friday doesn’t help. Just having a black coffee and trust me, it’s not helping either.
