Not trying to hijack here, but I found it crazy how similar that amazing painting was to a picture I took, almost like we stopped at the exact same spot. This is mid-way up EEOR looking back at Ha ling/miners. I LOVE that painting!
Wow what a thing of beauty! Not bad for my cheap home garage setup... What a disgusting job that was though. Any BMW techs have the labour time for this job? Could have got it perfect but I was paranoid about launching walnuts somewhere they shouldn't be even with tonnes of protection - this is 1000x better than before!
Calling all BMW techs - on an N55 (F26 if it matters), how in the hell do you get the valvetronic spring-release tool on to cylinder 6 (or damn-near 5 for that matter)? I've removed all cowls that are removable, but still it has this notch in the firewall that will not allow you to position the spring removal tool. There has to be something I'm missing here. I just said F-it and doing the valvetronic with the "cheat" method (walking shaft down with SS screws), but I'm so curious as to how you guys manage this repair!
Added picture for example, I understand it still shows the one cowl and wiper arms installed, but these have been removed. There are no other parts that could be removed in the way, the arms of the tool are hitting metal firewall.

Doing the valvetronic motor and wondering if this amount of eccentric shaft wear acceptable? Just trying to avoid the extra $1k ffs... please share thoughts! I appreciate all advice
