Urgent: Urologists at Christie Clinic?

Has anyone ever seen an urologist at Christie Clinic? Do you recommend anyone who is covered/in network with United Healthcare? Or, do you think urologists at Carle are way better even if the treatment/tests cost more? If yes, do you have a particular suggestion on any doctor in network with United Healthcare?

I'm a student at UIUC and I really can't afford if the bill is way too high at Carle. I know they offer financial assistance but still I wanted to consider Christie Clinic based on patient satisfaction.

PFT Success stories for hypertonic pelvic floor

I have urinary incontinence for last two years which started with a bad UTI and my urologist never asked me to do a PFT and just prescribed me Tamsulosin and I feel like I'm robbed. Recently I started having bowel incontinence as a result of weight lifting. After a lot of research I realized I have a hypertonic pelvic floor and hearing from the experiences of some amazing people on this sub, I finally convinced myself to see an urologist and then a referral to a PFT.

So I want to hear stories where your PFT journey has improved your hypertonia so that I can embrace the PFT journey. Please share all your stories. I would love to read! I really want to hear prople overcoming this issue and getting back to living a joyful life.

I'm just 25 and feel like my life is ruined. Does PFT really change lives?

I had a very bad UTI back in 2024 where I was peeing blood and ever since I started having this urinary incontinence and it is getting worse with each passing day. After the UTI was cured, my pelvic pain was still there and after MRI/CT scan it was found that my lower lumbers (bones at the end of the vertebra) were bulged I couldn't walk or step my foot on the floor and I started feeling eventually better when I started electrotherapy and it went for 4 months for me to get backto my normal mobility. My urologist at that time suspected it might be a neural issue but we didn't delve deeper because it wasn't that bad at that point. But my Post-void residue urine was always above 250 during uroflowmetry and I have been on Tamsulosin ever since.

Fast forward, I feel like I developed PTSD related to this, and developed stress incontinence over the last two years everytime I would go out I would pee multiple times before, even when I go out the strong urge of peeing is always there. The feeling of peeing every 15 mins/half an hour is just eating me alive, whatever I'm doing throughout the day that thought is always in my head like I'm possessed by this phantom burden all the time. I can't make a hangout plan with my friends without thinking about it. I cancel so many plans because of this. My body is always in flight or fight mode and I feel my anxiety is making it worse these days as I started living alone in a different country for a year now, I feel like this issue is getting inside my head and driving me crazy even more. I read the FAQ on this sub and it helped me a lot to understand what I'm going through is very much real and probably curable too. Thank you so much for the help.

Lately, I feel like my urge incontinence has gotten worse I'm going to pee every 15/30 mins I can't stop my head thinking about it and I can't sleep. Usually whenever I was sleeping 7 hours is max before my bladder would honk me to go pee. Now I feel like it's every 4 hours and it has made me feel absolutely horrible. I'm sleepy and i can't sleep properly. I'm having memory problem and I feel tired all day. Whole day when I'm working it helps me takes my mind off of it but the moment I'm back home the incontinence just starts creeping up inside me and make my life horrible. Lately i feel like I developed some constipation too which was never there before I feel like psychology is a big factor in urge/stress incontinence. It's just a pathetic loop of stress anxiety pelvic tightness urge and stress incontinence that I'm stuck at probably like many other people who's been suffering with this. I have sought out for therapy a few days ago to get rid of the thought of having a terrible life with a chronic health issue and this is extremely isolating which none around you would be able to empathize with. I feel better when I read people sharing their stories and their life changing for the better through therapy and medicine but sometimes it feels like it's just the end of the tunnel.

I'm a very active person. I have done a lot of extracurricular activities since i was a kid. I got to gym daily and do yoga too. This health issue feels like a curse on my life that I never deserved. It breaks my heart everyday to live this way.

I recently got diagnosed with mild fatty liver (again GI issues developed because of anxiety issues) and my insurance is still taking care of the bills after this is sorted out I would reach out to my PCP and go to a an urologist where I'm living right now and seek for advice.

I really want to know if pelvic floor therapy really helps to make life better. Please share your stories with me which will give me some ray of hope that I have a better chance at life and it can become better.

Thank you all for being there and listening to me. I hope all of us live a joyful life regardless of our pelvic issues!

Flomax (Tamsulosin) FAQ for OAB

Hi, I'm 24F and have been prescribed to be on Tamsulosin for 2 years now because of overactive blaadder caused by dysfunctional voiding of my badder i.e my badder can't empty the stored urine all at once as a result I have the urge to pee frequently. I also have stress incontinence. I have been on and off of Tamsulosin being scared of the long term side effects. But the moment I go off of it, my symptoms get worse, like feeling the urge to pee multiple times within an hour. With Tamsulosin, my symptoms are kind of manageable. Is anyone taking Tamsulosin for long time or can tell if there's any adverse side effects at all? Any other suggestion to make my situation better?

Thank you all in advance.
