ADU Garage Conversion Highland, CA

ADU Garage Conversion Highland, CA

pending STAMP approval at this point. According to Highland City we have to complete a C&D (along with a few other things like school fees) but it feels like they are twisting our arm to use Burrtec (the local waste disposal company). Has anyone had experience with this process, we were trying to use the same contractor to dispose of all the waste, but according to the city, the contractor must have a license in the city of Highland. Also the contractor must be on the building plans, but we went owner-build for a 649sq ft ADU so no contractor is listed. Any feedback or personal experience would help, thanks!

County Jail Nurses: Ostomy Bags

CA San Bernardino County jail nurses and medical staff: My mother has two ostomy bags as a result of cervical cancer, chemo, treatments and radiation. She is anemic, and has persistent headaches, body aches, and is always cold. She has a port on her upper left shoulder. She has had shoulder surgery. She was recently sentenced to 1.5 years for a crime. I'm a concerned child, she is still learning to care for her ostomies. Cleanup and hygiene are a huge concern. I'm worried about infections, or lack of hygiene available. I'm not looking for tips and tricks, just looking for resources or advice on how to advocate for her. Should I connect her medical team to the jail facility? Does the jail medical team request her health records? She has health insurance, a 4-5 team of oncologists and she has other specialists involved. A ton of medications prescribed at our local CVS. She has strong dosage of ibuprofen. The woman has a large team of health care staff who book monthly appointments for blood work, PET scans, port flushes, and other issues.

Should my mom (the inmate) be requesting access to her health services? Are they allowed to request gloves, to change her ostomy? How will she get her bags for waste? We usually purchased these and sent them for delivery to our home. Sometimes the waste is very smelly, like very! Where does she dispose the bags? How will other inmates respond? Do the nurses give inmates space/location for cleaning up the ostomy? TIA

Parent with Cancer is jailed

Hello, my parent has been jailed for 3 years in county jail. Said parent has been charged with an “after the fact” felony offense. They have also been fighting cancer for the past 3-4 years. Has many ongoing doctor appointments, port flush, scans, checkups etc. they also have an ostomy, two of them actually. What is the likelihood of them being released sooner? Idk maybe on house arrest, an ankle monitor? Is it possible or am I hopeful? Am I wishful because this parent has already gone through so much pain and trauma? Or am I wishful because I feel anger, resentment, sadness, frustration and fear? Has anyone out there had any experience with an ill parent who is also in jail?

Exam Rejected Status

Hi CalCareer experts, I completed an exam for CDE and one for CDSS, for the same role CDC. However, my exam was rejected for one depratment, but not for the other. What does "REJECTED" status really mean? Is it a fail or did I screw up the submission? I got no notice, I just happen to review the exam submission and found the status, see image. Any insight or personal experience would help. Thanks!

CDSS Child Care Development Division/PQIB insights

Hello, looking for insight on this specific unit: Child Care Development Division/PQIB at CDSS. Role is listed hybrid, with extensive travel.

  1. Would like to know if the dept. offers vehicles, or we drive our own, which I would hate, considering gas prices.
  2. Is this unit actually hybrid or remote? IDK
  3. it has a 2025 PLP notice, so what is the actual salary?
  4. what is management like?
  5. will I regret transferring or love it?
  6. can I go back to my current role as Analyst II if I don't like this new dept/role?
