Does every business really need SEO anymore or are paid ads enough in the beginning?

I have been reading so many different opinions lately that I am honestly confused.

Some people say to start investing in SEO from day one because it will help in the long run.

Others say don’t even think about seo until you are getting sales, and just focus on Google Ads and Meta Ads first, and now everyone’s talking about aeo and GEO because more people are using AI to search for information.

Also, I always get confused between branding and marketing. Should a new business focus on building a brand first or just focus on getting sales in the beginning?

Would love to know how people here think about it.

Getting quality leads from meta is true or just a hype?

I have been running leads campaign on meta ads for my services business for a while now, but have never got good results, the quality is really bad.

I am confused and not sure, if meta ads actually give good results for services brands, I think it only give better results for brands selling products only.

Or may be I am still doing something wrong while running, but as per me I have tried every tiny thing to make the campaign perform better, but still no results, is there anyone else also facing the same problem? If no, I think I seriously need help.
