In early December my right pointer finger started getting a bit stiff but nothing was sensed in my other fingers. I’m a type one diabetic so initially I thought it was trigger finger, although that wouldn’t make much sense because I could still move it, it was just stiff.
I play in a band and when we were playing shows in mid-December, the joints on both hands started aching. Initially I thought it was the weather because where I live, in Detroit, it wasn’t nearly as cold…but it’s continued to today where random joints, but not EVERY joint, aches along with my right wrist.
I finally got a referral to a rheumatologist, who sent me for bloodwork and X-Rays. The bloodwork seemingly said I had absolutely nothing wrong (RA Latex Turbid <10.0 IU/mL) and the x-rays stated there was no inflammation visible to the radiologist…but, I know I’m not crazy (at least I hope?) and I want to figure out what’s going on.
The rheumatologist prescribed me naproxen 500mg initially, but then switched me to methotrexate 2.5mg after he reviewed the x-rays…something that took him two months. Looking to figure out what’s going on with me or other suggestions as to how to ease this pain, as the rheumatologist is not helping much. The methotrexate is helping a bit, but is still not fully helping. Thank you!
