Italian sausage sandwiches that aren’t sliced?
Anyone know of any Italian places that sell Italian sausage sandwiches while keeping the sausage whole? Preferably on the Eastside.
First “deepfake” proves so realistic no one is able to distinguish it from real life (1896)

I found three kids and two old men in the one I just bought second hand. No wonder it was running so slow!

A review of Star Trek III (AKA Star Trek 2.5)
This holds the dubious honor of being the “best of the worst” of the original cast films. Even after reusing footage from Wrath of Khan several times, it still seems to have trouble filling the runtime with such a slight story. Robin Curtis unfortunately doesn’t fill in for Kirstie Alley all that successfully, Kirk’s son is annoying and it was a mistake to have Spock be a mute adolescent for a majority of the movie. I understand Nimoy wanted to focus on his debut as a director but this leaves about a third of the runtime focusing on characters I care nothing about.
The biggest problem is how little new ground we cover emotionally because the focus has to be on Shatner. The Kirk/Spock relationship was explored as far as it will go in the last movie. Kirk barely has a relationship with his son so that doesn’t resonate like it should. The most important relationship to me in the movie is Sarek finally being slightly less of an asshole toward his son (and all it took was his death) which sets the groundwork for their more complete reconciliation in that next movie. This is what the movie should have centered on.
Still, Christopher Lloyd makes a cool Klingon villain. I especially liked when he realized he had been tricked. The fight with Kirk is terrible though and the only joy I got out of it was in nostalgia in how similar it is to the terrible fights from TOS. This is the movie where Klingons really came into their own as a distinct culture and that is very cool, though I do wonder how different our conception of Klingons would be if Kruge was played by Nimoy’s first choice, Edward James Olmos. Probably way more grounded and less bombastic.
The stealing the ship shenanigans are fun, all the models are great and the stuff in the bar reminded me of Star Wars (which I consider a plus). I can see why diehards like it but there’s not much for the more casual Trek fan.
Is Klingon culture just better?
I don’t mean their Warrior ethos which is obviously toxic and psychologically harmful but rather everyone seems to agree Klingon coffee is better, on DS9, they eat Klingon food, listen to Klingon music, drink Klingon wine. Is it just novelty or do Klingons just do all these things better than the Federation? Nobody seems to be rushing to do these things with Vulcan stuff.
