Schaff is a great YouTubers but one criticism towards his newer content

I think the bigger issue with Schaffrillas is that his videos have gradually become very good at presenting an opinion as though the reasoning behind it is inherently more important than the movie itself. I don't necessarily mean that as a criticism of the conclusions, because a lot of the time I agree with where he ends up, but there’s something strange about how the structure of the videos makes certain points feel more definitive than they actually are. The rankings especially give everything this sense of finality, even though his opinions obviously change over time, and I think that can make some of the older arguments feel weirdly locked in place. I also think there are times where the way he explains a movie makes me feel like I understand his position perfectly, only to realize I couldn't actually explain why I agree with it without basically repeating what he said. Maybe that’s less a problem with the individual take and more a problem with how persuasive the format has become. There are points where I feel like I agree with him because the argument itself convinced me, but then other points where I think I just agree because he presented the movie in a way where disagreeing suddenly feels like you're missing something obvious. I know that sounds like a distinction without a difference, but I do think there’s a difference between making an argument convincing and making it feel inevitable, and Schaffrillas occasionally gets a little too close to the second one.

Top 25 movies. Three separate lists. One only for animated movies, one for live action movies, and one for both

Guys, I know I said earlier today that Reddit is the dumbest corner on the internet, but Twitter is giving it a run for its money

Since Schaff is doing Oscar rankings, I think a fun idea would be finding a certain decade and ranking the Best Screenplay winners (much like with acting, ranking them based on the screenplay itself rather than the quality of the overall movie)

If I had a nickel for every time schaffrillas rated a movie a 5/10, spoke about it far harsher in future videos as if he hates it, and then lowered his rating on letterboxd months later, I’d have two nickels! (The latter step hasn’t happened to KFP 4 yet but I’m confident it will)
