Shea Stadium Film 4K MAL Re-release?

I was watching Anthology earlier in the month and the level of restoration they did to the Shea stadium film truly astounded me that it's left me absolutely dumbfounded that apple haven't released a full concert film of it, I need to stress not just them actually in the stadium but the anthology flashes showed brilliant clean up of them arriving, preparing, the ques, the helicopters and it made me realise there's genuinely a full Documentary here, HOW has this not been fast-tracked as a Peter Jackson edited MAL joint!? it's so long overdue!

there's easily bound to be hours of footage we haven't seen before too

what are the chances we'll get a 4K release for Disney+ Anytime soon?

I'd LOVE to see something like this GET BACK'd in the Imax

had the remaining beatles shared any comments of their initial thoughts on Double Fantasy in John's lifetime?

were either Paul, George or Ringo asked what they thought of Double Fantasy by the press at any point in the 3 weeks following it's release before john died?

have any of them spoken about it lately? (I saw the video of Paul crying listening to beautiful boy but did any of them actually speak about the album itself?)

Was John Initially dissuaded by double fantasy mixed reception?

In the 3 weeks following the release of Double Fantasy (1980) and the Tragic night that changed history, Double Fantasies initial reaction whilst John was still alive and promoting it was allegedly mixed (I wasn't alive at the time but just from what I've read) people at first were quite underwhelmed and didn't know how they felt about a healthy optimistic house-husband Father John Lennon image making rock music, after 5 years way from producing music all-together

It's reported that John had already started early work on what eventually became "Milk & Honey"(1984) and envisioned the two records as a back-to-back mass recording production timeline (with a brief break to promote the first one) and intended to finish up and release what became M&H the following year in 1981, The plans were also in motion for him to work on "Nobody Told me" For Ringo Starrs "Stop and Smell The Roses" (1981) Album, and Yoko has since said they were making good progress on there visa's with an intent to travel to london in early 1981 and ALLEGEDLY Had actually booked studio's for a workshopping session he intended to have with Paul (Later people claim these to be preliminary talks for a beatles reunion but I'm not sure about that) It's also said that he Was planning this HUGE revolutionary Tour for 1982 with all sorts of screens and pyrotechnics as this massive event, At the end of the day these are all "What-if's" as none came to pass, but my question is:

As ambitious as these plans in motion do sound, you can't have conceptualised all of these things in those three short weeks, these are clearly plans that started momentum whilst feeling confident during DF's final mixing...

It's said when he first got back in the studio he was so insecure and anxious about being rusty and out of the game, on many occasions he was seriously considering scrapping all of the work all-together and just giving ALL the songs to Ringo, transitioning his career into being soley a Producer for Acts like Yoko or Ringo

So it does make me wonder, in those three weeks where he's alive and the reviews are coming out middling and the sales arnt as strong as him & Yoko anticipated, do people think he possibly felt dissuaded by this and had what happened not happened, How much work do people REALLY think he would have done going forward?

I imagine he could have had a career similar to George's second half, where he has periods of intense productivity like George in the early 80's and then just embraces that he doesn't HAVE to work and goes long stretches if not decades not producing music at all?

I could see him using his platform for activism again, and also playing as a session player on pauls solo stuff after wings would have disbanded but I think he mostly would have wanted to just encourage Sean & Julians musical careers as a mentor to them apposed to actively being a workhorse himself

is there any statements from him made in those 3 weeks in regards to DF's reception?

The Beatles Public "IMAGE"

Having rewatched Anthology from start to finish for the 3rd time, (and everyone will have a different take but) for me it’s VERY clear There actual public image we recognise as them in culture wasn’t fully solidified until Beatles for sale, as apposed to the ed sullivan show like i previously thought

Please Please me has a Quarrymen hanger-on Quality to me, blending with the general mersy beat style

With the Beatles is Overwhelmingly Homaging their hamburg era in 60-61 with the track listing and calling back to Astrid's photo's

Brian puts them in the suits (which obviously granted he did in 61-62) & they got the beatle haircut in hamburg back in 62 (sans Pete for his Curley hair)

but A Hard Days Night in conjunction with their takeover of America is still somewhat working in progress how to sell and commodify the group as a product to American and British audiences

it's not until after that with Beatles for Sale where they felt like they were exactly what they were cleaned up to be in terms of their aesthetic, which carries over into help with the longer perfectly brushed hair and it's like the moment they actually got there is the moment they hated it and from rubber soul onwards worked overtime on getting out of that box as quickly as possible which I feel they didn't successfully break until Sgt Pepper (not sonically or in their music of course, more so just their perception as public figures)

I don't think they really embraced there individuality as a reverse supergroup until the White-Album through to abby Road which really feels like 4 solo artists collaborating then a young pop group a manager like Brian used construct together into a media machine

on a micro level ofcourse they were constantly in a state of evolving and changed in their sound and their image and their perspectives 2-3 times a year from start to finish in their era's

Why does Paul Keep telling the "Mother Mary" Story?

Genuinely asking, but why DOES Paul keep re-telling the narrative that "Let it Be" came to him in a dream from "Mother Mary" McCartney assuring him regarding the Beatles Break-up in 1969 to "Let it Be"

when we have Indisputable Truth of the Song being worked on in early March 1968 whilst in India explicitly referring to Roadie Mal Evans as "Brother Malcom"

given that the original demo with these lyrics have actually been officially released by the band, WHY would Paul Continue to push his "Break-Up/Mary McCartney" Dream Story?

genuinely asking?

What would John Lennon have Thought of Oasis and 90's Brit pop?

wondered what peoples takes would be, towards the end he seemed very excited in his comfortability for his future as a family man husband & dad, making secure, apolagetic music he wanted to make for himself and looking at the past with a nostalgic acceptance

given how much he liked ELO for pastiche'ing the Beatles sound, I wonder what he would have thought of the arrogant but obbsessive Gallagher Brothers

Which of the three new Anthology Tracks felt the most Authentically "BEATLEY"

While not everybody's cup of tea, between the three songs "Free as a Bird", "Real Love" & "Now and Then"

which of john's demo's finished by the beatles has the most authentically Beatle vibe or sound to it, which one feels the most like the classic back catalogue to you and why?

on the other end, what makes it feel distinctly Un-beatles for you? how would you rank the three from best to worst and what could have made them better?

No Hate, all friendly and respectable opinions!

John singing like Yoko / Cold Turkey

I was listening to all released versions of Cold turkey the other week from when it was earliest demo'd and played live around the time of abby road, all the way over to the 2020 ultimate Mix of the final released Version and tracking the development of the song is interesting, those early demo's you can tell are workshopped with the beatles in mind, the sound is softer and more melodic (like he's expecting a McCartney overhaul and a george lead guitar, but it evolves and changes with every recording and gets harsher, grittier angrier and crazier, by the time I got to the final song I couldn't help but realise the almost stuttering vocal inflection he gives of the main hook, when he goes "COLD TUUUURRRRKKEEEY has got meeee, ooonn the RuuunnnnUNNNUn"

does anyone else hear or feel that he's sending up yoko's own style, it sounds to me like it's his turn at singing the way yoko does, in terms of the way he sings it sounds overwhelmingly tributed to Yoko to me in a way I don't think john ever really did again

what are peoples thoughts? are people hearing what I'm hearing or am I losing my mind? are there any other examples of him singing this way I've missed?

Yellow Submarine Remake

if the films are a triumphant successes, what's more likely "sequel" films set in the 70's showing John in the Imagine-New York City era, George in the ATMP-Dark horse Era, Ringo's 1973-Ringo 4th Era & Paul with Wings

or a single live action remake with the same Cast of YELLOW SUBMARINE, all done on greenscreen/volume stages like a marvel film?

the correct answer is neither but what would people rather see!?

Which films will skip over which era the most?

so it seems evident that all 4 films will showcase the band from it's start to it's end just differing the perspective of who's in the drivers seat each time, with that being said, all 4 films as a collective whole are sure to explore everything but as individual films which parts do you think will be mostly skipped over in which film?

Like the George Film will put an emphisis in india but I Imagine will breeze past the sgt pepper-Magical Mystery tour elements in barely 10 minutes as he was so passive here

Ringo's film will undoubtly skip over Hamberg the most, most likely only needing to show him in gangs and meeting the group, working with Rory & the hurricans, Likewise this I'm sure will only be 5-10 minutes, Like him witnessing the J/P/G stage pressence impressed and while it won't show a lot of india it will cover the white album with him leaving the group

John's films are certain to brush over Let it Be/Get Back because i'm sure they don't want to put such a heavy emphasis on the herion period where john was incredibly passive to the band and out of it, outside of him being frustrated at the group not accepting Yoko, Johns film will probably show the most of the Hard Days Night-Help Era

& Pauls film will easily brush over India as he wasn't committed to the meditation and was still focused on the pop side and the business

what are peoples guesses?

Songs that feel spiritually linked?

Any Songs people feel have some kind of unspecific correlation to eachother?

When I listen to "All You Need is Love" (1967), "Across The Universe" (1968-70), Lennon's "Imagine" (1971), "Mind Games" (1973) & The Threetles "Real Love" (1995)

They all feel like they are continuing a dialogue from the same voice, and I don't mean it in the way of it Being "John Lennon Songwriter" but more like updates from an omnipotent narrator watching over Humanity and spreading direct wisdom about the point of it all, the same evolving message spoken in different ways

they all feel linked when played together in a playlist

anyone feel the same way? any other songs that just "Come Together"?

What are Everyone's Favourite Version of "Cold Turkey"

Up until very recently, I'd only really heard the 2020 Ultimate Mix and appreciated it's very harsh and modern sound, while the song has never really been a favourite of mine, I'd recently heard the Toronto September 1969 Live version and even the July 1969 Demo recorded just as they 3 weeks from finishing abby road speculated to be presented to Paul & George to be fast-tracked as the Beatles November-December next Single (The rejection of which due to either being overworked and needing a break or due to the content matter of the song, seems to be the initial impetus to john forming the POB and deciding to fully leave the Beatles in September 1969)

it always eluded me conceptually as a potential Beatles number due to it's harsh sound Lennon was going in, but listening to the live version and ESPECIALLY the demo, the overall tone of the song is slightly softer and feels like it's recorded with the Beatles in mind which helped me appreciate the song in a brand-new way when it comes to the millions of "what-If's"

I heard the One-to-One version which sounded near identical to the initial single release

has anyone heard all 4 different versions? (The July 69 Demo for the Beatles, The September 69 Toronto Live Performance that lead john to leave, October 69'The Single & 2020 Ultimate Mix) what are people's favourites?
