Why do so many startups still struggle to get inbound leads even after building a website?
Not trying to promote anything**,** genuinely curious after speaking with multiple founders recently.
A pattern I keep noticing:
A lot of startups/businesses spend time and money building websites, but the website still ends up acting more like a digital brochure than an actual growth engine.
Common issues I’ve seen:
- poor Google discoverability,
- slow/mobile-unfriendly websites,
- weak conversion flow,
- no clear lead capture,
- no SEO/content consistency,
- and almost zero visibility on AI search/discovery platforms.
Meanwhile, founders keep relying heavily on ads or outbound because inbound isn’t working consistently.
Feels like the internet is shifting from:
“just having a website”
to
“having a website that search engines + AI systems can actually discover and trust.”
Curious how other founders here think about this.
Do you think most startup websites are under-optimized for discoverability and inbound growth today?
