Is it hard to keep a job at the shipyard?

Is it reasonable to believe that if I do a good job at my job that I’ll be able to keep the job here? I haven’t started yet but I see things about layoffs or people getting fired all the time, can I assume that I’ll be able to have a job for at least two years? Has anyone actually worked at the shipyard long term?

Drug screening questions

Hey I just got my first call during the hiring process, well I’ve gotten a couple calls for different positions. But I know they do a hair follicle test. The last time I smoked was 4th of July. I know it’s not like I’m hired or anything but I’d rather have answers and a plan now. I would not NOT pass a drug test yet. I’m happy to never smoke again and haven’t since.
I guess my question is how long into the process of getting a job did it take for them to drug test you?
If I end up getting drug tested earlier than I could pass should I just be honest?
If I push back the time to get drug tested (let’s say two months even though I doubt it’ll need to be that long) would they just decide to say eff you and go with someone else?
