Did I Do Something Wrong?

Hello,

(I’m a new international student in the UK, so not sure if I did something culturally wrong?)

So I was at the gym on the 2nd last bench available doing my workout, then this young lady sits on the bench beside me, which was the last available bench at the time, all fine.

Then she starts acting strange, like she felt uneasy with me being there? Staring at me through the mirror infront, I could feel something was off so did glance back at her through the mirror, eye contact for a couple seconds, but made sure to look away first because I felt like something was off, didn’t know if she felt uncomfortable even though I didn’t do anything?

Then I noticed she pulled her phone out and started sitting slanted on bench with her phone held higher up, like she was trying to take a picture of me using her phone?

Fyi I’m a south asian 20 year old international student with a beard (not a good looking person or anything, not sure if my looks came off as creepy?), not sure how old this girl looked but probably at least my age? ethnically white. Either way I’m worried, like was she taking a photo of me because I did something wrong? I swear I never did and would never even think of anything creepy, just don’t want my face plastered over the internet or something for nothing.

Any advice would be great, thanks

Cappadocia Car Rental

Hi,

I'm travelling to Cappadocia for 3 days in June and planning to rent a car from Nevşehir Airport. I'm 20 years old, so my rental options are pretty limited - most comparison sites are showing U-Save or Garenta.
The main issue is that I only recently got my first credit card, and HSBC gave me a £250 limit for the
first 6 months.

Most rental companies seem to require: a physical credit card at pickup, a refundable security deposit hold, and sometimes they mention needing enough available credit to cover the excess liability.
The rental prices themselves are fine, but I'm worried about how much they'll actually block on the card.

For example:
U-Save lets me pay almost everything upfront and says the deposit is about £85, BUT their terms also say "cards must have sufficient funds to cover the excess liability", and the excess is around £400, so U-Save won’t work.

Garenta lets me pay fully beforehand, so the price of the rental won’t use up the £250 on the day, and it’s only showing a 4500TL (£73.73) security deposit to be paid on a credit card at the desk, however they’re stating that there is an excess, but can’t find how much this excess is anywhere. I emailed them and they replied with “Your eligibility for car rental will be checked by our branch”. Which really isn’t useful, I don’t want to turn up and not be offered a car after paying.

Avis seems clearer and says the deposit is around £105, but their excess is much higher (~£1100), so I'm unsure whether that amount is only a liability in case of damage or if they actually pre-authorise/ block it on the card like U-Save does, I emailed them but their reply didn’t really explain it either.

Has anyone rented from Nevşehir/Cappadocia recently and knows: how much these companies actually hold on the card, whether they block the full excess, and whether a £250 credit limit is realistically enough?

Any advice would be appreciated, or if anyone knows any other companies.

Thanks

Banned for saying we need less migration

Hello,

Reddit warnings and bans are getting absolutely insane!
I made a comment on a question about immigration, saying we need less immigrants from certain countries moving into our country, because they have different cultures and not all of them are integrating into ours… 3 day ban!
“Identify based hate or attacks?” I never identified any particular groups, never spread hate, nor attacked any groups.
Literally just said immigration should be reduced. I’m dumbfounded. Unfortunately will probably get banned for this post too, but hey ho, I’d express my freedom of speech.

Turkey Travel Help

Hello,

I’m an Indian with ILR in the UK, planning to visit Turkey soon with a friend (not sure when yet). But not sure how I should plan this.

Budget is flexible, but would prefer to spend no more than £1000 for a week for myself.

The first question is how days is needed to see Turkey, like most interesting places, would 7 days be enough?

Another question is whether we should hire a car or not, I’ll be 20/21 depending on the date of the trip. I’ve got a UK License, I’ve driven in India and Tenerife before, and don’t mind driving unless it’s horribly daunting.

We’ll probably land in Istanbul, and spend a couple days there and go to all the attractions? Would a car be needed for this, or just uber/public transport?
I’ve heard about this hot air balloon thing, but it seems to be a good 7-8 hour drive from Istanbul, is it worthy driving, or just fly or something, I think Cappadocia is where it was.

But then that raises the question whether going all the way to Cappadocia and back is viable if we’re only in the country for a week, if we drive, the joinery there and back could be quite time consuming.
But if we spend the first half in Istanbul, and 2nd half in Cappadocia, there isn’t much point in coming back to Instanbul airport to fly back home, at that point I could fly back home an airport near Cappadocia?

Another option is, land at Istanbul, explore Istanbul, fly to Cappadocia, rent a car there for a few days, then fly back home from Cappadocia. But is this fine if I’m an Indian passport holder? Would the Evisa situation be alright?

I know it seems like a mess, but any advice would be great.

I’ll be flying from the UK.

Thanks
