CC1 + Canvas: How to fix the persistent "Nozzle front cover detached" warning.

CC1 + Canvas: How to fix the persistent "Nozzle front cover detached" warning.

I installed my Canvas yesterday, and like many of you, started getting the "front cover detached" message every time I powered it on.

I believe the reason this is happening is that the magnet in the front cover is just a little too far back in its housing, and isn't being picked up by the Hall sensor on the sensor board.

I tested this hypothesis by removing the nozzle cover and attaching a magnet to the front of the board, with a piece of paper placed behind it to prevent it from shorting out any components. As expected, no warning when I powered it on. The fix is pretty simple.

Step 1) Remove the nozzle cover and the extruder cover.

Step 2) Loosen the two #1 Phillips-head screws that hold the sensor board.

Step 3) Take a small strip of paper, fold it twice, place it under the bottom edge of the sensor board, and tighten the screws.

Step 4) Reinstall the covers, power on, and you should no longer get the warning. This worked for me on the first try, but it's possible yours may require more shimming than mine did. If you still get the warning, try adding one or two more layers of paper.

How do you get the PTFE tube out of the 4-in-1?

I had some filament break inside the tube and need to remove it. It is not what's currently loaded in the hot end. I tried pushing down on the ports where the tube feeds in, but can't get it to release.

Abnormal heat break cooling fan error when printing ASA

I tried to heat up the chamber interior with the bed today to print some ASA, and keep getting a "abnormal heat break cooling fan" error. The only option is to reboot the printer. The fan itself is fine, it starts running as soon as you start heating the nozzle, and isn't making any funny noises. I just successfully printed some stuff in PETG. I know I've done this before when I printed some house numbers in ASA. Did one of the recentish firmware updates change how it monitors this? I am currently running V1.1.46. My Canvas came today, and I want to print the top hat for it in ASA before I install it, but this is preventing me from doing so.

What's the lowest profile top hat design?

My Canvas arrived this morning, just in time for the long weekend. I have something of a height limitation, as my office is on the third floor of our house, and one wall is sloped from the roof rafters. I can drop the shelf by one notch to gain a little more room, but I'm looking for the lowest profile top hat in the hopes of not having to pull the shelving unit further away from the wall.

There be monsters lurking in them waters

Spotted this absolute unit of a snapping turtle while kayaking in the Sudbury River in Massachusetts this weekend, one of several we saw that day.

A fine way to spend a Friday afternoon

My wife had the day off & I knocked off work early so we could go for a paddle. There were tree and barn swallows skimming the river all around us, we saw a river otter, and I saw the biggest snapping turtle I've ever encountered (last pic).

The trapdoor cat builds a hiding place out of natural materials found in the environment, then waits for unsuspecting prey to come close.

My from me, to me, birthday present arrived today. Clocking in at only 691g. Can't wait to try it out and start learning how to use it.

I'd like to take my kayak out this weekend if it doesn't rain too much, or early next week. Does anyone know if the launch cradle at Ice House Landing off the rail trail is available? I wasn't sure if they leave it in year-round or pull it out for the winter.
