Opinions changing once we become pregnant

Isn’t it funny how we have opinions/ expectations before we get pregnant and they change? For me I’ve always said I wouldn’t breast feed, creeped me out and I didn’t like the idea of being on call 24/7 like a milk machine. I’m also on medication for epilepsy so I didn’t want the baby getting any more of that than he’s getting while in the womb. Once I got pregnant though and actually did some research into it I’m now looking forward to it and hoping I’ll be able to exclusively breastfeed and pump!
What changed for you guys?

Anyone else creaking like an old staircase when they move?

24wks tomorrow, and every time i move my bones creak and crack like i'm cracking my knuckles. I assume its nothing to worry about, but i stood up and stretched in work just now and i swear the whole building heard my shoulders, knees and hips crack 😂 Am i the only one? Its worse at night, husband thought i was farting as i rolled over but no, it was just my joints cracking 🙈

Should I report an item broken during delivery or just take the €4 loss?

I bought a snow globe and it must have smashed during delivery, haven't opened it yet as I want to do a video of opening just in case, but the bag is soaking wet and An Post put it in a second plastic bag that the water is leaking in to. If it'd cost more I'd look for a refund but for the sake of €4 will I bother perusing it? I had this happen before with a picture frame where the glass smashed and I let it slide because I only really wanted it for the print inside and just bought a new frame. But with a snow globe there's nothing I can do to fix it.

Going back to work once Maternity pay finishes

Has anyone any experience of going back to work after the 6 months mat leave is finished? I have childcare sorted, luckily both families are local and have divided time amongst themselves and I've a creche place for him when he's 18 months, or as soon as a year old if a space opens up. But the further into my pregnancy I get and the more I read here/ talk to mothers, it seems like everyone takes minimum a year. We just can't afford to cover our mortgage/car loan/bills on husbands salary alone.

I don't know if they'd be ok with me going back part time, I know they won't be ok with work from home because they don't let anyone do that. Its office based customer service/admin type work so no manual handling/labour etc, commute is 5min drive.

Using annual leave to cut my work hours, opinions?

I'm almost 21wks and I'm absolutely exhausted. I can't sleep, if I do its for a few hours at most. no sign of this 2nd trimester energy I've heard about. It's making it so difficult to concentrate in work, yesterday I literally forgot about a task I do daily that I've done for years, like literally as if it didn't exist and I come in this morning needing to do all that work on top of todays.

I don't have the option to cut my hours (and couldn't afford to) or wfh and I feel like its too early to go down the route of being signed off, so I'm debating should I use some of my AL and take one day off a week, so basically giving myself a 4 day week. my brother and parents think I should keep them until nearer xmas in case I need time off then, but by December I'll be 30+ weeks so feel like I could be signed off if needed without feeling guilty. Husband just says to do whatever I think is best for me, doesn't have an opinion (or won't share it anyway).

I'm due in Jan, and as my company close over xmas the plan is to just not go back after xmas so I only need to last until then.

any thoughts, suggestions and advice welcome!

doc/nurse support

hey, i'm going private in Holles street. does anyone know is there a support person or whatever for queries or worries or do i go directly to my consultant or midwife? i dont like to bother them for what could turn out to be normal/trivial matters, but at the same time would like the relief of a medical person advising me. what do people usually do? should i just email my consultants secretary or the midwife? (i'm not sure is it normal or not but i was put in touch with a midwife because of underlying medical condition but i'm not sure is she only for issues around that condition).

EV charging at work

hi guys, me and a friend at work both got electric cars in the last few months. at work there is charging stations for the people who drive company cars that are EV. we were told we werent allowed plug in at work to charge, which is fine for me, but my friend thinks if the company cars are able to charge why cant we? she said legally anyone who works there is entitled to charge regardless if its a company car or not. just wondering does anyone know if this is true? i think she just wants to charge and not pay (dont get me wrong i'd love to have free charging in an ideal world). but she wont let it go and keeps dragging me into it and i dont want managers pissed at me.
