Anyone up for a hit 🎾

Hi All!

Over the last few months I’ve had a bit of a change in schedules and looking to fill up some time outside of work to get active with someone or someone’s preferably casual walks, kick of soccer or really any racquet sports (squash, tennis etc)

A bit about me - 27M full time shift worker, in a long term relationship with my beautiful partner. Live inner Northside and work at the airport. I’m healthy and relatively fit. I would say I’m an extroverted person that likes giving things a crack. I used to go to the gym and had a PT but looking at going into an apprenticeship so wanted to limit my spendings. Since I’ve stopped that I’ve found myself missing the social side of being active. I’m a big Pies and Bunnies supporter and enjoy trying new things and strategic games. I manage a restaurant so am relatively busy but want to start putting effort into my life outside of work. I’ve got a kelpie named Chef and we both enjoy going to dog parks and throwing a ball. I don’t enjoy running or golf unfortunately which seems like the in sports for guys atm.

I’m really just wanting to meet a new mate/s male or female to have a casual friendship with that’s respectful of each other and share similar values. Definitely get along with both genders pretty evenly but have more friends that are women than male, but would love to have a male mate that can enjoy watching the footy with on the odd occasion, get out and about couple of times a month.

Few things that I pride myself on and would be deal breakers; I have large amounts of respect towards women so being within the manosphere would definitely clash with my values and beliefs, not interested in only meeting up for beers (more keen on having an after activity beer), I’m pretty progressive but have a strong interest in listening to others stories and backgrounds. I don’t enjoy touching or being too physical. I enjoy people that have strong respect for themselves and others and respect their own set of values.

So if anyone has any recommendations of social adult tennis around Northside of Brisbane or other sports that are looking for a fill in, meet up for a dog walk or dog play or something similar let me know!

Thanks 😊

Highs & LOWS

I’ve been a heavy bong smoker for the last 11 years. Smoking every day multiple times a day or on days off ALL day.

I’ve known I’ve been addicted to pot for a period of time now and it’s started to make me feel as if the choices I’ve made don’t really align with me as a person and the future for myself.

My partner is a non smoker and really couldn’t understand the extent until the first few times she slept over and I would wake up 2/3am go and have a few bongs then come back to sleep before my alarm for the day/work. We’ve been together for 3 years now and is awesome, super supportive and very patient with me. She’s very stable in regards to her mental health and hasn’t really ever experienced any direct mental health issues or struggles.

Myself on the other hand was introduced to smoking (cigs) and drinking at a young age. Below 8 for drinking and below 12 for smoking. I’ve struggled with gender dysphoria throughout primary and high school which ultimately led to have depression and suicidal thoughts and scares.

I would smoke to reduce this anxiety and make me feel less depressed, once turning 18 I began working towards getting the care I needed but continuing to smoke daily. My average amount would be 1-2g a day of high potency pot always trying to chase the best strain I could get my hands on.

Over the last 6 months I’ve really struggled with my self image and relating it to pot, beating myself and up and my opinion changing to think I’m actually a massive loser.
I want to move into a trade and work for a large company where I know I will be drug tested and I desperately want to pass.

First week’s symptoms were very much cookie cutter;
- hot flushes/sweats
- nausea
- headaches
-appetite changes
-libido changes
Also every thing that documented.

By day 7 I felt myself in such a depressed slump that I was considering suicide - this was a major shock for my partner to see my uncontrollable crying. This was the worse day me by have

I’m on day 12 now and I feel physically and mentally really good. I’m still suffering from a bit of insomnia but feeling that brain fog towards the lunch time and mid day period is reducing

Bottom line keep going and think about what’s really important to you to quit, I kept having to tell myself in the last 13 days that I’m doing this for my future. Glad I’m at 12 days and making it 13

How can I get a shot?

I’m wanting to change careers from retail. I’ve worked as a McDonald’s Restaurant Manager for the last 4.5 years and as a manager the last 10 years since I was 17.

I’m currently completing my cert II (due to finish in July), have my first aid, CPR/LVR and fire training certificates. I also have my white card and have booked in for a yellow card and working at heights course.

I don’t have any experience on a site working with tools but I’ve always been good at troubleshooting issues with small electronics/work equipment.

I’ve been looking and applying for jobs for about 2 months now.
I’ve been applying for every apprenticeship job on seek but not hearing back. I’ve been messaging different companies on Facebook/instagram to pass on my resume and been putting in EOI’s for business through their websites.

What else can I do to give myself the best shot/chance to getting an interview and securing an apprenticeship? I feel like the main disadvantage is not having site experience as my other experience and determination for a change is unmatched.
I don’t want to necessarily work for free but I am willing to give a hand where needed if it will help land a job in the future.

Thanks.
