Flies

Does anybody else have the worst fly infestation at their store rn💀. Like sure, I’ve seen it all atp, bedbugs, spiders, cockroaches, mice, but omg these flies are the worst. When we’re working in the back room they swarm around everyone they can get near. I’ve had to stop wearing perfume and start covering an exposed skin because they will land on and bite the shit out of you. They’re even worse in the bathrooms bc our customers don’t know how to aim for the bowl or flush. Can’t take a piss without being attacked by the killer flies.

Should I break up with him?

Im F 24, my partner is M 29. We started dating a shortly after we hit it off at work (we work at the same place just different areas). It’s been almost 9 months now and I’m not sure things are working out for either of us. For me, this is the longest relationship I’ve ever had. I was severely overweight in high-school and lived in a very small conservative town so the dating pool was non-existent in my teen years. I graduated, had a few fleeting things here and there, but nothing stuck. I know from a physiological stance my idea of love is kind of screwed as I am the result of two people who hate each-other but couldn’t stop having kids for some reason.

He just came into a really lonely spot in life for me. I had just started going back to school in an accelerated bachelors program on top of working a full time job. It was convenient, we got along and could hang out after work. I wouldn’t say I was physically attracted to him at the start, as vain as I think that sounds, but I figured that maybe with time, he would grow on me.

We eventually started seriously dating and progress has been slow ever since. He’s very insecure, constantly asks me what I think about him and our relationship and if he’s doing anything wrong. There’s no sex as well which, not a huge deal for me, but it ties back to how insecure he is about himself. He won’t initiate whatsoever. I don’t know the extent of it, but I think he has a porn addiction that began before we were together. He often reports to me when he’s masturbated and that he feels shameful about it, which makes me wonder what he’s doing to that makes it so shameful? He recently took a job that has different hours than mine and we maybe see eachother in person once a month now. Even when I try to make plans, he never makes an effort to let me know when he’s free or what works for him. Our entire relationship is basically over text atp.

He also is very depressed and does not try to improve his situation. I myself have been depressed from a young ages, but have gotten to a place where I can regulate my emotions and pulls myself out. He can’t and won’t even try. He goes to therapy and is on medication, but has very little improvement. So most days when we could be hanging out, he’s asleep bc he won’t voice that the medication and therapy isn’t working. Recently, he finally let me in on how bad it was, thoughts of self harm and other things. I had to beg him to hand his journal over to his therapist so he could get his medication adjusted.

The biggest dealbreaker for me at the moment is that I don’t think he can move away from his mom. He currently lives with his mom, helping her pay the bills and maintain the house. It’s very admirable and something that made me like him in the first place. However, once I receive my degree, I’m hoping to work at my workplace’s headquarters and will have to move states. I fear that he won’t be willing to move with me. He is so emotionally manipulated by his mother that I don’t think he can leave her. She ask him for money all the time and he’ll say yes to her bc he feels bad that without him, she’d be all alone.

At the beginning, I really felt like I could love him, but I’m not sure anymore. I just get a feeling that he doesn’t know me that well either. Like he constantly buys gifts for me that I never mentioned wanting or have no interest in, meanwhile if I buy him something it’s bc I know he really wants it. What sucks is that his family members also work where I work and a few are in upper management I’m worried of what would happen within the environment there if I broke up with him. I also don’t want to send him into a depressed spiral, but I think he needs some time to just be one his own for a while and learn to love himself. Idk.

To report or not to report?

So I’ve been stuck as a sponsor in my department for almost 2 years. Within 2 years, I’ve applied to several team lead positions and have only had 1 interview for a position I ended up not getting. I’ve really started to lose hope especially with how sponsor are just expected to do the work of TL’s for the pay of a regular associate so I’ve been trying to leave the department altogether. The problem is, I’ve been applying for other positions, even talking to TL’s and coaches and I’m still not getting interviews. Even for an associate roll I’m not being considered. I’m not a bad worker, obviously I’m trusted enough to be a sponsor. I have 1 point at the moment from being sick, but I am very reliable and show up for work even as I’m working full time and going to school full time. The issue (I think) is that my direct supervisor (1 of of the four team leads in my department) is my biggest reason for wanting to leave and I think she’s lying about stuff when contacted about transferring me over.

So, I work the night shift, the TL over me refuses to work nights unless she absolutely has to. She’ll harass our coach until they give in and let her work the mornings. When she does close, she’s extremely hands-off, doesn’t help with anything, just only works on her stuff. She basically ignores me all night, won’t even do small talk with me which is whatever. The issue is that she goes to my coach and the other TL’s and says that all I do is talk bad about everyone and I just whine and complain all of the time. Now, not only do my coach and other TL’s not believe that bc they work with me and actually know me, but also, how can I talk all that smack with her if she refuses to interact with me? Also, after I finally managed to get a TL interview, suddenly TL from hell started trying to coach me for everything. I was training a new hire and she threatened to coach me for talking too much. How would I train someone without talking to them? Hello? And when I expressed concern about too much work being assigned to my elderly disabled coworker, I was told that I should shut up and do what I’m told or I’ll be coached. Idk I don’t understand why she hates me or what I did bc yet again, she doesn’t work with me.

I’ve shared my experiences with TL’s and a few coworkers and they think I should report it to ethics. I’m just not sure, it’s not like I have any proof of this stuff. I’m not confident they’ll even investigate or do anything about it. I can’t just quit bc I’m in the college program and live in a dead beat town anyway so there’s nowhere else to work.

Best department to work in?/ rant

Honestly they’re all pretty shit, but if you guys had to say, what’s the best department to work in at Walmart?

I work as fashion stocking/floor rn and have a TL that hates working nights so when she has to she’s a complete terror. Assigns everyone (including the sweet old lady that attends our fitting room who is disabled) a ridiculous amount of tasks every night on top of what we’re already supposed to do. We’re also running on a skeleton crew with four full time backroom employees and then everyone else is part time. We are expected to work the floor and the backroom so quite literally we take turns vizpicking, processing truck, zoning, binning, fashion opd picks, running returns, and doing fitting room and jewelry while swapping out each other for breaks, sometimes responding to code forties, running other departments pick carts, or being sent to opd bc they’re behind. There’s also the daily scan where we rescan flex sections in a select department every day to keep them from being no location, for the larger areas, it can take several hours just to scan everything. We also have to rescan the Wacos once a week bc they’re drop out every two week. I’m fr my department is barely holding on by a thread, the last thing we need is more work. Anyway, TL that hates the night crew has now resorted to threatening to coach us over literally everything. Was told we complained about her too much to upper management? Got told we’d be coached if she heard anything about it again (I never personally actually reported her to management in the first place, wish I would’ve.
). We didn’t have time to replace missing labels when we were slammed over the weekend? Got threatened with a coaching. Mind you, the morning team most certainly doesn’t get threatened like this, actually, they completely stop working at 2 and sit in the backroom and talk for the last hour of their shift. Unfortunately I can’t just up and leave bc I’m in the college program, just can’t stand her any longer.

Any tips for a possibly new OPD team lead?

Had my interview today and have worked in the department a bit to help out with overdue picks, but other than that, I’m going in blind.

Here’s some of the issues the coach is wanting fixed:

Associates going MIA after their breaks
Severely slow pick rates
Low morale
Lots of call ins and tardiness/leaving early
High turnover
Late picks even on slow days
Disrespect from associates
Low metrics

In my interview I recommended logging breaks and some ways to encourage the team to do better. The morning team I feel like I won’t have much issue with, but the night team is mostly highschool kids and even though I’m in my early twenties, I worry that they won’t listen to me 😅.

Please let me know what I’m in for, what to expect, and pass on any advice on how to fix the issues I may be facing very soon. Thank you!

Door policy??

So we have a new AP coach that’s trying to push that all employees need to go through the grocery doors only when coming in and leaving for their shifts. I’m just confused bc there’s no way that’s a thing. Most of the employee parking at my store is on the GM side of the lot so most people enter through the GM door. Also, if I’m off the clock before and after my shift, are they really able to tell me which door to enter and leave through? I’m not getting paid for walking through the door.

Career growth does not exist in this company 💀

I’m a sponsor currently and yes, I’m basically a team lead without the pay. So much so that I’m trusted to manage the rest of my team when there’s no management on schedule. I can check out team lead keys, pull tills, open the jewelry safe, but no matter what, can’t get interviewed for a team lead spot. I don’t really know where to go from here as it’s looking like a favoritism thing. Recently they gave one team lead position to an associate that constantly calls in and refuses to work most of the time, but they’re friends with one of the more popular coaches. I just heard that they’re transferring another team lead to the team lead position I most recently applied for, but that girl hadn’t even been a team lead for 6 months. I’m confused on how they can just completely disregard the transfer policy? About to start sending emails to the people over my store manager and see what happens.

Had to move back in with my parents after rent was increased to basically my whole pay check and a consumables team lead position is about to open at my store. Wondering if it’s worth the trouble of taking or not. I’m also attending an online college course so I don’t have much available time to begin with, but I’m just not making enough money to survive as a regular associate.
