Roast my single-floor layout, shared walls on 2 sides, struggling with light & flow
Foundation is done, so I'm NOT moving anything structural. I'm trying to plan the interiors: furniture/bed placement, where to put windows and vents, and finish choices. Dimensions on the plan are in feet/inches (ft' in").
Setup:
- South and West walls are shared with neighbouring houses, so windows can only go on the East and North sides.
- Entry is from the East.
- Roof is flat, stone slabs on iron beams, so I can do an exposed-beam ceiling.
What I'd love input on:
- How to fix natural light + ventilation into interior rooms when two walls are blind?
- Furniture layout per room, especially bed placement in both bedrooms (Bedroom #1 has an angled corner I'm stuck on), and seating in the Kitchen+Living(Family) and Drawing Room(Guests).
- Window + cross-ventilation strategy when two walls are blind, where would you put openings, and is a skylight worth it for the interior rooms?
- The small ~3'10" "Yet to plan" room, best use given its size?
- Finish/material suggestions that suit a flat stone-and-iron-beam roof (covered beams vs. false ceiling, flooring, wall treatment).
Going for a warm & cozy feel. Open to honest suggestions. Thanks!
