After buying two fancy ARTEM bands for a watch that turned out to be small (stupid me), I’m stuck with two brand new wristbands that I’ve only used to try the watch for two days.

If anyone’s interested, drop me a line. I’m located in the EU, FYI.

AMA, of course.

Good deals to be had for those who like these (I do).

Thanks.

Omega vs Grand Seiko: Same price, which one?

Having realised my GS SBGX261 is too small at 37mm, I’m about to purchase a new GADA quartz beater. I’ve limited my options down to a used Omega Aqua Terra 38.5mm (2017-2020) in excellent condition and a nearly new Grand Seiko SBGN027.

The use cases cover everything from daily wear in the office and any whereabouts (apart from the gym), and the selected watch will be worn while swimming and snorkelling on occasion. It will sit in between my main dress watch and the fitness/G-shock, being the in-between of my three-watch collection (admittedly, all my G-shocks count as one).

I like both brands and I honestly don’t mind that the Omega would be somewhat less precise than the GS. It does not bother me if the GS would come across more sporty than the Omega as I think it’s dressy enough for any unforeseen formal occasion. The GMT side of things is not that important either, as I selected the GS for its WR (including screw-down crown) and quartz movement.

I’m also looking for a dress watch, which will probably be an Omega Aqua Terra 38mm black dial. If the quartz Omega would become the beater, I’ll have a kind of consistent look on every occasion apart from gym and any other rough activity. If I pick the GS, it’ll be a more differentiated situation. I do not know whether I’ll prefer the one or the other and I’m not planning on flipping new watches for quite some time after this trinity has been decided on.

Really curious to see some opinions on this matter before pulling the trigger.

Thanks for reading this and appreciative of any remarks!

PS: I already own a black and a grey (white stitched) Artem hydroflex that fit both watches, as bracelets often disagree with my wrist.

Have a great day.

SBGX261

Really like this watch for its beautiful simplicity, even though it feels a bit small to my taste.

Psychologically, it gains points for being so damn precise.

Physically, it bothers me for moving towards the top of my wrist. Not a bracelet person, so that wasn’t even worth my time as it felt either too tight or too wide, whatever I tried.

So I gave it a go with a black Delugs signature sailcloth first, which honestly let me down horribly due to the stiff upper parts that keep pushing the watch up (one-finger space between the watch and my wrist).

After that, I tried it with Artem’s loop-less Hydroflex and, quite honestly, this is a very nice wristband compared to anything aftermarket I’ve ever seen. It’s supple, comfortable and feels genuinely good on my wrist. The grey would be best for summer. Black would work for most of the year, I reckon.

Will be wearing this watch quite often and shall re-assess in a while.
