Darkness Weaver Update: The Fera Are Coming Out of the Shadows

If you're new here, Darkness Weaver is a free platform for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness, with character creators, interactive character sheets, PDF exports, quizzes, and The Loom, our VTT built specifically with these games in mind.

https://darknessweaver.com

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world is already full of things humans were never meant to see.

Garou know this better than most. But they were never the only ones fighting for Gaia.

The Fera have their own histories, their own ways of seeing the Umbra, their own Gifts, and their own reasons for standing against the darkness.

And with the latest update, W20 Changing Breeds is now fully supported in Darkness Weaver.

For those seeing Darkness Weaver for the first time, it’s a completely free platform for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness, with character creators, interactive sheets, PDF exports, quizzes, and The Loom, our VTT built specifically around these games.

The Fera

The Changing Breed creators now support:

Ajaba, Ananasi, Bastet, Corax, Gurahl, Kitsune, Mokolé, Nagah, Nuwisha, Ratkin and Rokea, along with the lost breeds Apis, Camazotz and Grondr.

One of the biggest changes was making sure these characters actually feel like Fera.

Garou-specific options such as tribe, auspice and breed no longer bleed into the other Changing Breeds, and each Fera now follows its own character creation rules where appropriate.

Gifts of the Fera

The Gift system has been rebuilt around the categories found in W20 Changing Breeds.

Breed, Aspect, Tribe, Stream, Faction and General Gifts now have their proper place, with validation to prevent Gifts from the wrong traditions quietly slipping through.

The catalogue has also been substantially expanded, including cross-references to Gifts originating from the Garou.

Some of the stranger paths through the Umbra now have their own rules as well.

Kitsune, Ananasi, Rokea, Corax, Ratkin and the lost breeds all receive their specific creation mechanics rather than being squeezed into a Garou shaped template.

Breed-specific backgrounds such as Den-Realm, Umbral Maps, Umbral Glade, Mnesis, Wallow and Ananta have also been added.

The Lost

And then there are the ones that are no longer supposed to be here.

Apis. Camazotz. Grondr.

The lost breeds can now be created as well, although they require Storyteller approval, just as they should.

A little more of the Umbra

The update also brings an expanded collection of Fera glyphs, covering breeds, aspects, tribes and Bastet sub-tribes.

The resulting dossiers now properly represent the character's Fera identity instead of carrying over unnecessary Garou specific fields.

There’s still more work to do, but the Fera now have a much stronger place in Darkness Weaver.

The Garou may have their war.

The Fera have always had their own.

If you play one of the Changing Breeds, I’d love to hear what you think of the new support.

And as always, if you notice something missing, something that feels wrong, or simply have an idea that would make the experience better, please let me know. Community feedback has shaped a huge part of Darkness Weaver so far.

Darkness Weaver Update: Changeling The Lost 2e is now available

If you're new to Darkness Weaver, welcome!

Darkness Weaver is a free web platform built for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness. It brings together various character creators, unique PDF character sheets, cloud saves, personality quizzes, and The Loom, an integrated virtual tabletop built specifically for Storytellers.

Instead of trying to be a generic VTT, the goal is to create a platform that supports the unique way World of Darkness games are prepared and run.

https://darknessweaver.com/

I’ve just added Changeling: The Lost 2e to Darkness Weaver.

If you’ve been waiting to run or play Lost in a more structured way, it’s now fully supported across the platform.

This isn’t just a basic sheet. It’s a full experience from character creation all the way to play.

What you can do with it

You can create your character step by step, pick your Seeming, Kith, Court, Contracts and everything else you’d expect from Lost, and then immediately start playing on an interactive sheet.

Once your character is ready, you can:

  • Play directly on the sheet with all your resources and Contracts tracked
  • Export a clean, unique style PDF
  • Bring your character into The Loom and use it during sessions
  • Take a short quiz if you’re not sure what kind of Changeling you want to play

The whole thing follows the same structure as the other systems on the site, so if you’ve used Darkness Weaver before, it should feel very familiar.

If you play Lost, I’d really love your feedback.

  • Does the flow feel right during character creation?
  • Is anything missing that you normally use at the table?
  • What would make this more useful during an actual session?

A lot of features in Darkness Weaver came directly from community feedback, so I’m always listening.

Darkness Weaver Update: The Loom Is Becoming a Complete Storyteller Workspace

If you're new to Darkness Weaver, welcome!

Darkness Weaver is a free web platform built for both World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness. It brings together character creators across multiple game lines, official-style PDF character sheets, cloud saves, personality quizzes, and The Loom, an integrated virtual tabletop designed specifically for Storytellers.

Whether you're playing VampireWerewolfMageHunterWraithChangelingDemonMummyKindred of the EastVampire: The RequiemMage: The AwakeningPrincess: The Hopeful, or other supported game lines, the goal is to provide a single home for preparing, running, and managing your chronicles.

Rather than trying to be a generic VTT, Darkness Weaver is built around the way World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness games are actually played.

Over the last development cycle, I've been focused on expanding The Loom into a complete Storyteller workspace.

https://darknessweaver.com

Session Management

Storytellers can create and manage rooms, assign player roles, start and end sessions without closing the table, keep session summaries, browse previous sessions, and review detailed dice statistics alongside a chronological session log.

Storyteller Dice & Adjudication

The Loom now supports a complete Storyteller dice workflow.

  • Roll on behalf of players or NPCs
  • Public and secret rolls
  • Hunger, Rage, and Desperation dice
  • Rouse Checks, Blood Surge, and Willpower rerolls
  • Contest, Cooperative, and Extended group rolls
  • Temporary modifiers and room-wide difficulty controls

NPC Showcase

Create NPCs from scratch or link existing character sheets, track health and conditions, organize biographies and story roles, reveal information gradually to selected players, share media, and roll directly from linked NPC sheets.

Stage Tools

Turn the tabletop into a presentation space with drawing tools, annotations, zoom, image management, hidden media, synchronized timers, and multiple background types.

Modern & Historical Chronicle Maps

Build interactive Chronicle Maps with multiple boards for different cities or regions.

Place locations, NPCs, routes, and territories, organize them with layers, control what players can see, search for locations, and seamlessly switch between modern maps and historical world maps. Historical chronicles also support year-based navigation and multiple visual styles to better match different time periods.

Chronicle Journal

Every chronicle now includes its own campaign codex.

Write session reports, historical eras, events, milestones, and custom pages. Keep drafts private, publish them when you're ready, and automatically build a chronological timeline that players can explore.

Storyteller Communication & Atmosphere

Private Storyteller notes, player-specific notes, one to one secret messages, synchronized YouTube playlists, and session management tools are all built directly into the table.

System-Specific Features

Rather than forcing every game into the same workflow, The Loom adapts to individual game lines with dedicated mechanics such as Hunter Cells, Wraith Shadows, Werewolf form-based dice pools, and other system-specific tools.

Outside of The Loom, Darkness Weaver also includes:

  • Character creators covering both World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness game lines.
  • Official-style printable PDF character sheets generated directly from your characters.
  • Cloud saves that allow characters to move seamlessly from character creation into The Loom.
  • Personality quizzes that help players discover their clan, tribe, tradition, creed, kith, auspice, and other supernatural identities.

The project is still actively evolving, and many of its features exist because of community feedback.

I'd really love to hear what you think.

  • What tools are missing from your ideal World of Darkness or Chronicles of Darkness VTT?
  • What parts of your Storytelling workflow still happen outside your tabletop software?
  • Is there a feature that would genuinely make preparing or running your chronicles easier?

Every suggestion is welcome, and there's a good chance your feedback will help shape future updates.

Which Chronicles of Darkness Game Should Join Darkness Weaver Next? Round 2

Last Poll Winner: Vampire: The Requiem

The community has spoken, and Vampire: The Requiem is officially joined Darkness Weaver.

Requiem is a modern gothic horror RPG where vampires struggle to balance political ambition, ancient mysteries, and the Beast within. Rather than focusing on a global metaplot, it emphasizes personal horror, local domains, and stories shaped by each chronicle.

Now it's time to decide which Chronicles of Darkness game line should follow.

Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition Has Arrived in Darkness Weaver

I'm excited to announce that Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition is now available in Darkness Weaver.

This release is especially meaningful because Vampire: The Requiem was chosen by the community through a public vote. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped decide which game line would be added next. Your feedback and support continue to shape the future of Darkness Weaver.

This is another major milestone as Darkness Weaver continues expanding beyond the World of Darkness into the Chronicles of Darkness universe.

My long-term goal has always been to support as many official Storyteller game lines as possible within a single platform. Every new addition brings Darkness Weaver one step closer to becoming a unified toolkit for both players and Storytellers.

Designed for Long-Term Chronicles

Darkness Weaver is more than a character creator. It's built to support your character throughout an entire chronicle.

With the Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition creator, you can:

  • Build complete Requiem characters from scratch.
  • Manage multiple characters in the cloud.
  • Play directly from interactive digital character sheets.
  • Print clean, table ready character sheets.
  • Track character progression, including Humanity, Blood Potency, Conditions, Beats, and Experience.
  • Keep equipment, notes, and other important information organized in one place.
  • Connect your characters with The Loom.
  • Access your characters across supported devices.

Whether you're creating a newly Embraced neonate or managing an elder who has survived centuries of political intrigue, Darkness Weaver is designed to grow alongside your chronicle.

Built with The Loom Support

Requiem was implemented with The Loom support from day one.

Characters rarely exist in isolation. They are connected through broods, covenants, domains, sires, childer, allies, rivals, and countless personal relationships that shape every story.

The Loom allows those connections to exist alongside your characters, creating a stronger foundation for future storytelling tools and campaign management features.

Looking Ahead

Darkness Weaver continues to evolve into a comprehensive platform for Storyteller games.

Development is focused on creating a place where players and Storytellers can manage every aspect of their games, including:

  • Character creation
  • Chronicle organization
  • NPC management
  • Interactive character sheets
  • Cloud synchronization
  • Homebrew support
  • Storyteller tools
  • Shared character access
  • Interactive maps
  • And much more currently in development

Every update brings the project closer to that vision.

Chronicles of Darkness Continues to Grow

The addition of Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition is another important step in expanding support for the Chronicles of Darkness.

More game lines are already planned, existing systems will continue to receive improvements, and future community votes will continue to help shape the direction of Darkness Weaver.

Thank You

To everyone who voted for Requiem, tested new features, reported bugs, suggested improvements, and shared ideas, thank you.

Darkness Weaver has always been a community driven project, and every contribution helps make it better.

If you play Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition, I'd love to hear your feedback. Whether it's bug reports, feature requests, or ideas for future improvements, every suggestion helps shape future releases.

The night grows ever deeper

New to Darkness Weaver?

Darkness Weaver is a free platform built for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness players and Storytellers.

The goal is to provide a single place to create and manage characters, organize chronicles, build NPCs, use interactive character sheets, and support tabletop campaigns with tools that continue to grow over time.

Whether you're playing Vampire, Werewolf, Hunter, Mage, Wraith, Changeling, or other Storyteller game lines, Darkness Weaver aims to bring them together in one connected ecosystem.

Darkness Weaver Update: Kindred of the East and New W20 Estranged Tribes

This update expands Darkness Weaver in two very different directions.

Kindred of the East is now available as its own Vampire edition with a dedicated rules engine, while Skin Dancers and Singing Dogs have joined the W20 character creator as fully supported Estranged tribes.

https://darknessweaver.com/

Kindred of the East Has Arrived

Kindred of the East is no longer treated as a variation of Vampire. It now exists as its own edition with a dedicated rules engine and creation flow built specifically around its mechanics.

What's included

  • Dedicated Kindred of the East edition and save slots.
  • Separate character creator and character sheet.
  • Five Dharmas.
  • Five Directions and Courts.
  • Full Hun, P'o, Yin and Yang soul system.
  • Automatic Willpower and permanent Chi calculations.
  • Classic KotE character creation rules.
  • Six complete Shintai trees.
  • Five Demon Arts trees.
  • Five Chi Arts trees.
  • Full English and Turkish localization.

The complete wizard has been implemented from character concept through the final summary, making Kindred of the East feel like a first-class part of Darkness Weaver rather than an adaptation.

New W20 Estranged Tribes

Two more Werewolf tribes have joined the W20 builder.

Skin Dancers

The infamous Skin Dancers are now fully supported, including their unique Gifts:

  • See Past the Skin
  • Mask Taint

Singing Dogs

Singing Dogs have also been added with their signature Gifts:

  • Free Flowing
  • Singing Dog's Cry

Both tribes are implemented as Estranged rather than Gaia or Wyrm factions.

That means they use the standard Glory, Honor and Wisdom Renown system while following their own dedicated character creation path.

The identity step now includes a dedicated Estranged section positioned alongside the Gaia and Wyrm factions, complete with Storyteller guidance and localized English and Turkish support.

Continuing to Grow

One of the goals of Darkness Weaver has always been to support as many official World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness game lines as possible while giving each one the mechanics and presentation it deserves.

Every new edition and faction brings the platform closer to becoming a single place where Storytellers and players can create, manage and play across the entire World of Darkness.

As always, thank you for all the feedback and feature requests. They continue to shape every update.

Darkness Weaver Update: The Loom Improvements & W20 Black Spiral Dancers

This update brings one of the biggest improvements to The Loom so far, along with full support for one of the most requested W20 factions.

Black Spiral Dancers Are Now Available

Black Spiral Dancers are now fully supported in the Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary character creator.

This is much more than simply adding another tribe. The entire creation flow has been adapted to reflect the Wyrm perspective.

Included in this update

  • Full Black Spiral Dancers tribe support.
  • Complete Wyrm faction integration.
  • 76 official Gifts covering Ranks 1 through 5.
  • Tribe glyph and visual identity.
  • Dedicated Wyrm-themed character sheet.
  • Corruption tracker.
  • Renown uses Power, Cunning and Infamy instead of the Gaia Renown categories.
  • Hive terminology throughout the builder and dossier, including Hive and Hive Totem.
  • Updated validation and UI that understand Wyrm faction rules.

Whether you're creating memorable antagonists or running an entire Black Spiral Dancer chronicle, Darkness Weaver now fully supports the experience.

The Loom Update

Cross-Game NPC Support

Storyteller NPCs are no longer restricted by the room's game line or edition.

When creating or editing an NPC, you can now link any character from your Darkness Weaver library.

That includes:

  • Vampire
  • Hunter
  • Mage
  • Werewolf
  • Changeling
  • Wraith
  • Demon
  • Mummy
  • Princess
  • Custom Sheets (Coming Soon)
  • Every other supported character type

Characters are grouped by game line inside the selector, making them easy to browse even if you have a large collection.

The only exception is Hunter Cell Sheets, since they follow a different workflow than individual characters.

Player character selection remains unchanged. Players still join a room with characters that match that room's game line. Cross-game support is exclusive to Storytellers when managing NPCs.

Power Rolls Have Arrived

One of the biggest additions in this update is full Power Roll support throughout The Loom.

Players can now roll powers directly from their linked character sheets, and Storytellers can do the same for linked NPCs.

Supported powers include:

  • Disciplines
  • Gifts
  • Edges
  • Spheres
  • Arts
  • Arcanoi
  • Other game-specific supernatural abilities

The Loom automatically calculates the correct dice pool from the linked character sheet while using the room's selected dice engine, whether that is Classic Storyteller or V5.

There is no need to calculate pools manually or switch back to the character sheet during play.

Whether you're activating a Discipline as a Vampire, using a Gift as a Garou, casting a Sphere Effect as a Mage, or resolving an NPC's supernatural abilities, everything can now be rolled directly from the game table.

Redesigned NPC Panel

Managing large NPC casts is now much easier.

The Storyteller NPC panel has been redesigned into a compact list that keeps the sidebar clean even during busy sessions.

Each NPC is displayed as a single row showing:

  • Portrait
  • Character name
  • Game line
  • Linked sheet status

Selecting an NPC opens a dedicated profile window where Storytellers can:

  • View a larger portrait and character details.
  • Check Health and Willpower.
  • Read NPC notes.
  • Perform Trait Rolls, Power Rolls and Manual Pool rolls.
  • Reveal NPC media to players.
  • Open or close linked character sheets.
  • Edit or remove NPCs.

This keeps the sidebar compact while giving quick access to everything needed during a session.

https://darknessweaver.com/

Looking Ahead

Darkness Weaver continues to grow beyond a character creator.

The goal has always been to build a complete platform where you can create characters, manage chronicles, and play your sessions online without switching between multiple tools.

Every update brings Darkness Weaver closer to that vision.

As always, thank you for all the feedback, feature requests and bug reports. They continue to shape the future of Darkness Weaver.

A New Darkness Weaver updates is here: V20 Dark Ages & The Loom

Over the past few months I've been working on two features that take Darkness Weaver far beyond being just a character creator.

One brings the medieval World of Darkness to the platform. The other is the first step toward a fully integrated online tabletop experience.

https://darknessweaver.com

V20 Dark Ages is now available

The World of Darkness didn't begin with the Masquerade.

With this update, Darkness Weaver now fully supports V20 Dark Ages, giving medieval chronicles their own dedicated home instead of treating them as a variation of modern Vampire.

This release includes:

  • 16 Clans & Bloodlines, including High Clans, Low Clans, Salubri, Lamia and Baali.
  • The complete Road system with all eight Roads.
  • 19 Disciplines, including Daimoinon, Chimerstry, Obeah and Obtenebration.
  • Medieval Backgrounds, Merits & Flaws.
  • Period-appropriate terminology throughout the creator and character sheets.
  • Cloud saves, PDF export.
  • Full English and Turkish localization.

V20 Dark Ages has its own creator, character sheets and save slots, keeping it completely separate from modern Vampire while remaining faithful to the original rules.

Introducing The Loom

The second major addition is something I've wanted to build since the first versions of Darkness Weaver.

The Loom is a browser-based virtual tabletop designed specifically for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness. Rather than adapting a generic VTT to Storyteller games, every part of The Loom is built around the mechanics and storytelling style these games rely on.

The idea is simple: create your character, save it to your account, join a room with an invite code, and start playing immediately. No exporting character sheets, no separate dice bots, and no switching between multiple tools during a session.

Current features include:

  • Storyteller, Player and Spectator roles, each with their own permissions and interface.
  • Live character sheet integration, with automatic synchronization between your saved character and the game table.
  • Support for both V5 mechanics and the classic Storyteller d10 system.
  • Universe-specific Google Maps themes, allowing every chronicle to use a map style that matches the atmosphere of its game line, alongside custom scene backgrounds for important locations.
  • Comprehensive NPC management. Storytellers can create NPCs from scratch, import their existing Darkness Weaver characters as NPCs, or reveal and hide NPC character sheets during play.
  • Interactive storyteller tools including drawing, pointers, zoom controls, timers and scene annotations.
  • Private Storyteller-to-player messaging alongside the shared game chat.
  • Session logs, chronicle history and dice statistics that remain available after the game ends.
  • Real-time synchronization, ensuring every player sees the same map, media, dice rolls and scene updates instantly.
  • Browser-based multiplayer with no software installation required.

Because The Loom is part of the Darkness Weaver ecosystem, everything works together naturally. Characters created anywhere on the platform can immediately join a game, NPCs can be reused across chronicles, character sheets update automatically, and Storytellers don't need to manage multiple disconnected applications just to run a session.

The goal has never been to replace every virtual tabletop. Instead, it's to provide a VTT that feels like it was designed specifically for World of Darkness from day one.

Darkness Weaver started as a character creator, but the long-term vision has always been much bigger.

The goal is to provide one place where you can create your characters, organize your chronicles and play your sessions without needing a collection of separate apps.

These two additions are the biggest step toward that vision so far.

As always, I'd love to hear your feedback. If you're running V20 Dark Ages chronicles or looking for a World of Darkness-focused online tabletop, I'd love to know what you think.

Major Update for Darkness Weaver - Play Rooms & Profile Personalization

Hey everyone!

My previous post was removed because it accidentally included some non-English text, so here's the update again.

This update is one of the biggest I've released so far. Play Room is now available, along with new profile customization features.

Play Room

Play Room is a live virtual tabletop built for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness on Darkness Weaver.

Create a room for your game line, or join with a room code and bring your saved Darkness Weaver characters straight to the table.

Inside a room you can:

  • Open your character sheet as a floating panel during play, with automatic cloud saving.
  • Roll dice from your character’s Attributes and Skills, or build manual pools whenever you need them.
  • Use line-specific dice where supported, including Hunger (Vampire V5), Rage (Werewolf V5), and Desperation (Hunter V5).
  • Let Storytellers make hidden rolls visible only to them.
  • Run group roll sequences such as contests, extended challenges, and cooperative turns.
  • Set your own table status (AFK, Busy, or a short custom note) on your player card for everyone to see.
  • See Storyteller-assigned condition effects on player cards, separate from personal table status.
  • Upload images to a media stash, place them on the table, and move or resize them in real time for everyone.
  • Set a full-screen table background with Google Maps or a custom image.
  • Draw on the stage or directly on placed images; ink on an image moves with that image.
  • Use Storyteller stage tools including a draggable toolbar, loupe, pointer, pen, eraser, and table timer.
  • Reveal NPC-linked handouts to selected players on the table.
  • Keep a live session log of rolls and important events.
  • Review past sessions in the Chronicle timeline.
  • Manage NPCs, ST notes, pool modifiers, and timed countdowns from the Storyteller tools.
  • Set the maximum number of participants for each room.
  • Assign members as Players or Observers.
  • Invite everyone with a simple room code and copy it from the header with one click.
  • Open the in-app guide from the ? button whenever you need a refresher.
  • Rename, close, or permanently delete rooms when your chronicle is finished.

Universe Avatar Frames

Every supported game line now has its own unique avatar frame.

Unlock them by:

  • Creating a character in that universe.
  • Completing its lore quiz.

Your selected frame appears on both your profile and inside Play Room sessions.

Supporter Features

Supporters now receive:

  • A Supporter badge on their profile.
  • Animated GIF profile avatars.

https://darknessweaver.com/

Darkness Weaver is still under active development, and I'm building it as a solo developer. That means every bug report, suggestion, and piece of feedback genuinely helps shape the project.

If you have some time, I'd really appreciate it if you could:

  • Try the new Play Room with your group.
  • Report any bugs or issues you encounter.
  • Share your thoughts on how the experience feels.
  • Tell me what Storyteller tools, quality of life improvements, or other features you'd like to see next.

My goal is to build the best online platform for World of Darkness players and Storytellers, and community feedback plays a huge role in deciding what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Darkness Weaver so far. I couldn't have made this much progress without the community.

Darknessweaver Update - Mummy: The Resurrection + UI Improvements

Hey everyone,

A new update for Darknessweaver is out.

Mummy: The Resurrection has been added. You can now create and manage Mummy characters directly in the app, with support aligned to the system.

I also made several UI improvements:

  • Cleaner character creation flow
  • Improved step navigation
  • General polish across the interface

I’ve also made updates for better mobile accessibility, making it easier to use Darknessweaver on smaller screens.

The goal here was to make the experience more straightforward and consistent while adding support for another system.

As always, feedback is welcome especially if you try the Mummy flow.

Mage: The Awakening is now live on Darkness Weaver — Mummy is next

After being the most requested option in latest community poll, Mage: The Awakening is now available on Darkness Weaver.

You can now create and manage Awakening characters with:

  • Free character creator
  • Play-mode character sheet
  • Print-ready PDF export

Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll and helped decide what comes next.

The second-place winner was Mummy: The Resurrection, which is now my next development priority.

As always, Darkness Weaver is being built to support more World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness game lines over time.

What is Darkness Weaver?

For the last several months, I've been building Darkness Weaver, a free browser-based hub for the World of Darkness.

My goal is simple: bring character creation, character management, lore resources, and eventually chronicle management into a single platform that supports multiple game lines and editions.

The project is still very much in active development, but it's reached a point where I'd like to share both what exists today and where it's heading next.

What it is today

Darkness Weaver currently supports:

  • Vampire: The Masquerade (V5 & V20, including Ghouls)
  • Hunter: The Reckoning (5th Edition & H20)
  • Mage: The Ascension (M20)
  • Werewolf: The Apocalypse (W5 & W20)
  • Demon: The Fallen
  • Wraith: The Oblivion (W20)
  • Changeling: The Dreaming (C20)
  • Princess: The Hopeful (Supporters Request)

The platform is built around guided character creation and character management, with each game line having its own creation flow, rules support, visual identity, and character dossier.

Current features include:

  • Step-by-step character creation wizards
  • Character dossiers designed for play
  • Free PDF exports for every supported game line
  • Local and cloud saves
  • Shareable character links
  • Lore pages covering clans, tribes, traditions, creeds, houses, guilds, kiths, and more
  • Character creation guides
  • Universe and splat quizzes
  • English and Turkish language support, with more languages planned
  • Ambient themes and music for supported universes
  • Performance mode for lower-end devices

Everything is free and Dark Pack compliant.

A little about the tech

One of the biggest challenges is that World of Darkness isn't a single ruleset.

V5, V20, W20, W5, H20, M20, and the other game lines all have different creation systems, progression rules, and character structures.

Because of that, Darkness Weaver was designed as a modular platform rather than a single monolithic character builder.

Under the hood it currently uses:

  • Next.js
  • Self-hosted PostgreSQL
  • Redis-backed background processing
  • Dedicated PDF generation workers
  • Modular rule engines for each supported game line
  • Full internationalization support with English and Turkish currently available

The rules logic and validation systems are separated from the user interface, allowing new game lines and editions to be added without rebuilding the entire platform.

Character data, accounts, profiles, and shared content are stored on infrastructure that I manage and operate myself, giving me complete control over how the platform evolves over time.

Where it's going

Character creation was always intended to be the foundation, not the final destination.

My long-term goal is to grow Darkness Weaver into a complete hub for ongoing chronicles and campaigns.

Planned features currently include:

Storyteller Tools

A dedicated area for Storytellers to manage chronicles, organize notes, track players, and keep important campaign information in one place.

Campaigns and Chronicles

Persistent chronicle spaces where characters, sessions, notes, locations, and relationships can all exist together.

Chronicle Management

  • Session notes
  • Chronicle timelines
  • Character relationship maps
  • NPC management
  • Shared resources and handouts
  • Group management tools

Narrative-Focused VTT Features

I'm not trying to replace Foundry, Roll20, or other virtual tabletops.

Instead, the goal is to build lightweight tools that support the way many World of Darkness groups actually play, with a focus on narrative storytelling rather than tactical combat.

Why I'm sharing this

One thing that's been incredibly valuable throughout development is community feedback.

Many of the improvements, quality of life features, and even some larger additions came directly from conversations with players and Storytellers who took the time to share their experiences and suggestions.

Darkness Weaver is a much better project because of that feedback, and I'd love to keep that process going.

If you try the platform and have ideas, feature requests, criticism, bug reports, or simply something you'd like to see improved, please let me know. Every piece of feedback helps shape where the project goes next.

Community Poll: What should be the next universe added to Darknessweaver?

I've been building Darkness Weaver because I wanted a modern alternative to juggling PDFs across multiple WoD game lines...

Currently supports character creation for:

Vampire: The Masquerade (V5 & V20)

Werewolf: The Apocalypse (W5 & W20)

Mage: The Ascension (M20)

Hunter: The Reckoning (H5 & H20)

Demon: The Fallen

Wraith: The Oblivion (20th Anniversary Edition)

Changeling: The Dreaming (20th Anniversary Edition)

Princess: The Hopeful (Dream Version)

I'd love to hear not only what you'd vote for, but why. Is it your favorite game line? One you've always wanted to play? Or one you think deserves more digital tool support?

Community feedback has a huge impact on what gets prioritized next.

Update on DarknessWeaver: An Unusual Guest Appearance

With special requests from supporters, Princess: The Hopefull is now available!

Whether you're creating your first Princess or bringing a long-running character to life, the system is ready to explore. As always, this release is still part of an ongoing development journey, and your feedback is one of the most important tools shaping its future.

If you encounter bugs, usability issues, incorrect rules implementations, character creation problems, or anything that simply feels off, please let me know. Every report helps improve the experience, and many of the features currently available exist because of suggestions and feedback from the community.

The vision behind this project has never been limited to character creation alone. The goal is to build a place where chronicles begin, characters continue to grow beyond a single sheet, and players can discover, share, and celebrate each other's stories across the many worlds we love.

The project remains actively developed, so please expect occasional rough edges. If you find them, report them. If you enjoy something, tell me that too. Every piece of feedback helps guide what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far, and I hope you enjoy exploring Princess: The Hopeful.

Update on DarknessWeaver: Beyond Character Creation

One thing I've wanted from the beginning was for the project to feel less like a collection of character sheets and more like a living World of Darkness community.

To move closer to that goal, the latest updates introduced a new social layer to the platform.

Users can now follow one another, making it easier to discover fellow Storytellers, players, artists, and character creators across the various game lines. Whether you're building a coterie, a pack, a motley, a cabal, or something far stranger, finding other members of the community should feel more natural.

Profile pages have also been expanded and now serve as a personal corner of the World of Darkness. Users can showcase their favorite characters, display quiz results, and build a profile that reflects the stories they're most interested in telling.

I've also added a growing collection of lore-inspired quizzes. Some are focused on individual game lines, while the new Universe Quiz helps newcomers discover where they might belong within the larger World of Darkness. Are you destined for the Jyhad? Drawn to the Dreaming? Haunted by the Shadowlands? The quiz aims to point players toward the corners of the setting that resonate most with them.

Characters themselves have become more personal as well. Custom avatars can now be assigned to created characters, helping them stand out both on profiles and throughout the platform.

The homepage has received a community-focused overhaul too. Recently created characters are now featured on the front page, allowing visitors to see what the community is creating and drawing attention to new stories waiting to be told.

Alongside these additions, there have been numerous UI and UX improvements throughout the application, continuing the push toward a smoother and more immersive World of Darkness experience.

That said, the project is still very much a work in progress. New systems, sheets, social features, and game lines are being added continuously, which means bugs, edge cases, and occasional rules mistakes are inevitable.

If you decide to try it out, bug reports, UX feedback, and rules corrections are incredibly valuable. Whether it's a broken feature, an incorrect character creation rule, a confusing interface, or simply something that doesn't feel right at the table, I'd love to hear about it. Community feedback has already shaped many of the features currently in the project, and it remains one of the most important parts of development.

The long-term vision remains the same: not just a character creator, but a place where chronicles begin, characters live on beyond a single sheet, and members of the community can discover each other's stories.

Update on DarknessWeaver: WTA20, V20, H20, and what's next

The Weaver has been busy.

While Vampires were plotting, Werewolves were smashing things, and Hunters were arguing about who's actually in charge, a few new residents quietly found their way into Darkness Weaver.

🩸 Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition (V20)

🔫 Hunter: The Reckoning 20th Anniversary Edition (H20)

🐺 Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition (W20)

are now available.

One thing I've tried to avoid from the beginning is making every game line feel like the same character sheet wearing a different hat.

A Vampire shouldn't feel like a Garou with renamed fields, and a Hunter definitely shouldn't feel like either of them.

Because of that, every supported game line has its own online sheet and its own PDF export designed around that specific game. The goal is for each character to feel like it belongs to its world, whether it's struggling with Humanity, wrestling with Rage, or trying to survive another terrible decision.

Darkness Weaver now supports a growing collection of both 20th Anniversary and 5th Edition World of Darkness games, and character creation is finally reaching a point where I can start looking toward the next chapter of the project.

The current roadmap includes things like:

• Chronicle and campaign spaces

• Storyteller tools

• NPC management

• Session notes and timeline tracking

• Relationship maps

• Connected character and chronicle data

• A World of Darkness lore and reference library

The long-term goal is to build something more than a character creator: a place where players and Storytellers can keep their chronicles alive between sessions.

For now though, I'm going back to arguing with character sheets and wondering why every supernatural creature in the World of Darkness insists on having a completely different way of tracking things.

As always, feedback, suggestions, and bug reports are welcome.

https://darknessweaver.com

Stay safe. The World of Darkness probably won't.
