A little over a year later
I'll be honest, I never really thought at the start it would be so easy to disconnect from traditional streaming services because of their convenience, but making the switch to self hosting is still one of the best decisions I've made for myself. Didn't think I'd be this far along now but I'm very satisfied with how much my library's grown (I wish it was easier to set up tagging for genres, but that's more on RYM for not being able to integrate into anything than Plex). Funnily enough, I've also discovered more music than I ever did using Spotify because I actually have to make the effort to discover things on my own now. No really saying anything else with this post, just a progress marker I guess. Now if only this tech crisis we're in could settle so hard drives aren't maddeningly expensive anymore...

Plex not matching new albums with musicbrainz entries
I've been having an issue recently for some reason. There's been a couple albums I've added to my server that didn't previously have entries on musicbrainz, and like usual I'd enter them into musicbrainz myself (the artist too if they're missing) and then use Picard to add the metadata when I'm done with that. Picard recognizes the newly added entries and the metadata adds fine. The problem comes when I want to match or fix match on plex itself. It just can't find the matches on musicbrainz for some reason, and I can't match a bunch of new albums. Sometimes it will give me wrong results or just loads forever before telling me it didn't find any matches. I've already tried using the MBID instead to under search options but even for albums that I've had for over 48 hours, it can't find the matches. It works fine for stuff that's already been on musicbrainz for a long time, but I'm at a loss on what to do. Do I just have to wait longer before trying again? It used to be that I could match same day.

Been properly trying this app out over the past week and here's where I've gotten. Pretty happy with it but still make small changes here and there when I find something else I like. I did steal some custom text from other people's styles tbh, and the Now Playing is an edited version of candide's Simple + Minimal Theme (Inspired by Tidal and Spotify). Also ended up figuring out a way to do the Anniversary smart playlist.
