Chair Suggestions for Chores

Im in desperate need of advice right now. I moved in with my boyfriend 5 months ago and he’s been doing most of the work. Every time I go to do some I start feeling faint and I’m unable to finish the task. Or I’ll take a break and avoid coming back to it because I know I may faint. And even when I do pus through and get a chore done it wipes me out for the rest of the day.

What I’m trying to say is most of the work falls onto my boyfriend and it’s been unfair. I’m looking for some sort of chair or stool I can keep in the kitchen for when I do dishes or clean. Maybe something that doesn’t take up a lot of room? I need a chair that allows me to be at standing height while sitting so I can access the counter and sink properly. Our place only has hardwood floors so it moving around or me slipping off when I’m trying to do things is also a concern of mine. I don’t know where to start looking but I definitely want something as soon as possible.

If anyone has any recommendations or links that worked for them I’d really appreciate! This is something that’s actively affecting my relationship and I want to solve it as soon as possible.

Butterfly Spell Jars

I’ve never been too interested in selling anything like spells. I mostly stick to jewelry making and art. I believe anyone can create a spell with a toilet paper roll and kitchen spices. But I finally made something just as magical as it is art and I’m so excited to share it! The butterflies are fake but the crystals, herbs, flowers, and intentions are real. The intention of the spell is based off the color/colors of the butterfly and the herbs, crystals and wax seal are based around it.

Decorated Mobility Aids

I have two mobility aids! An electric wheelchair and a rollator/transport chair. I’m a big believer that your mobility should reflect your personality since it’s basically an extension of your body.

It’s as easy as getting a few cheap sticker packs from Amazon! But it makes such a big difference if my confidence when taking them out in public.

Luxury vs Necessity

So this is something I never thought about before but just now realized I’ve experienced this before.

There are a lot of things in this world that aren’t accessible. For some it may be food. Many people with chronic illnesses or disabilities are unable to go to the store. That’s why grocery pick up and food delivery is essential for them! But those methods always come with extra fees and costs. Most people consider things like delivery services a luxury that needs to be paid for. But for some people it’s not a luxury, is a basic need. Before I was diagnosed I found myself ordering groceries and food online from DoorDash. I didn’t know why but I knew when I tried to stand over a hot stove I would quickly black out. My parents called me lazy and wasteful. They claimed we had food and I just needed to make it, but I couldn’t.

Another thing that’s considered a luxury is premade or prepackaged food. Food that you can easily microwave or eat whenever. And guess what? That’s also more expensive than buying ingredients and making the food yourself. But it’s quite literally the only way I’m able to have a full meal. (Shout out to my boyfriend for meal prepping for me.)

It’s expensive to eat. It’s expensive to get food. But it’s a basic necessity. Delivery services make food, groceries, and other household things more accessible! But most people never get to see that side of it. They’re focused on how it helps them specifically. To others it may just be a fee so they don’t have to cook that night. But for us it can be the means by which we survive.

Just something to think about.
