Thai restaurant peanut sauce

This isn’t a request for a specific location, just Thai restaurants in general.

Every time I have peanut sauce/satay sauce from a Thai restaurant, I love it so much. Every restaurant makes it differently, but I love them all. I’ve tried several different “Thai peanut sauce” recipes, but none of them taste anything like the stuff from restaurants. I would love to be able to make some at home!

my sweet babies (14)

My sweet beautiful babies turned 14 in February :’) They are siblings, and were found as kittens on the side of the road along with 2 littermates & their deceased mother. My partner’s family adopted them when my partner was 10, and when we moved in together a few years ago, we took the kitties with us. They had previously been living in a house with a large dog and multiple children that didn’t respect their boundaries, and they immediately relaxed and became more social once they came to live with us.

I am extremely grateful for how well they are doing, considering their age. They have had feline herpesvirus since they were kittens, which has caused chronic noisy breathing in Alex (tabby), and chronic goopy eyes in Ashley (long haired). I worry about them constantly, but they still eat well, drink well, and have good mobility. I’m sure I will make the dreaded rainbow bridge post some day, but not today!

TW for minor mentions of ED, fat shaming, medical talk

24NB, and I finally got a laparoscopic surgery (as well as a hysterectomy, just for funsies) yesterday to confirm endometriosis. I have it. Stage I, nothing crazy, but it’s there, and in the locations that I have been feeling pain for 13 years.

The first time I saw a provider about my pelvic pain, I was 17 and nervous. I asked about maybe starting birth control, as I had heavy bleeding and had heard that it could help. The nurse practitioner condescendingly informed me that I was overweight (thanks, didn’t know that), and that if I lost weight my pain and heavy bleeding would probably go away. I was secretly recovering from a restrictive ED at the time, so that was a big blow to me. It took me like 2 years to work up the courage to ask for help again.

Now, 8 years later, I have proof that I was fucking right. There WAS something wrong. I weigh at
least 50lbs more now than I did when I saw that provider, and after desperate attempts at dieting with minimal effects (and being essentially unable to exercise due to the pelvic pain), it wouldn’t have made a difference because there WAS endo there.

Shoutout to the providers who actually listened to me. I think I cried the first time I spoke to someone who did. I’m still going to be on crazy hormonal drugs for a long time to try and prevent endo recurrence, but I’ll take that trade-off. ❤️

Getting nervous and doubting myself

Hi! After years of debilitating pain, heavy bleeding, pelvic floor PT, and trials of medications, I (24NB) am finally getting surgery on July 22nd. I’ve wanted this for years, and I was so excited to finally see a specialist and get approved.

I was surprised when my surgeon offered a hysterectomy option (without ovary removal) — ai had assumed that I would have to fight to get one, due to my age. I assume it was easier for me because of my gender identity, but who knows.

As surgery approaches, though, I’m psyching myself out a bit. I know for a fact that I don’t ever want children, and the pain and breakthrough bleeding despite maximum doses of BC have made me want to rip my uterus out on countless occasions. Despite all that, though, I’m worried that I’ll regret my decision. I told my mom about it recently, and she just said “That’s a lot. It’s a big step.”

I’m also a bit worried about recovery. I generally recover well from surgery, but I’ve never had a surgery like this before. My partner will be my primary caregiver, but they have a disability that makes it difficult for them to use their arms. I am going to meal prep for us as much as I can, but I worry that I will need more help than they can provide. I’m a nursing student and I’ve worked in healthcare for years, so I am very familiar with the surgical recovery process, and I know my limits — but I still worry.

I’d love to hear from anyone, especially folks on the younger side, who have gotten a hysterectomy, and what that was like for you (physically and mentally, recovery and beyond). ❤️

Look at my baby!!!

This is Tippy! She ended up in my life after her owner (the distant great-aunt of a friend of my partner) passed away in November, and no one else in her family could take her in. I had never had a dog before, and wasn’t really ready for one, but my partner and I made it work — and I’m so glad we did. She was very leash-reactive when she came to us, but she has made so much progress, and I’m so proud of her :)

I’m not sure what type of dog she is. Based on looks and vibes, I want to say pit lab mix? Her vet paperwork says shepherd mix, though, so I have no idea. She’s 5 years old and 65lbs, although she is a bit overweight (previous owner fed her table scraps and she was previously at least 83lbs).

I’m not sure how that’s comfortable…

My sweet boy Alex (14) was absolutely zonked earlier and fell asleep with his head between the couch and the cabinet… 🤷🏻
