Infosys Interview Experience – Need Honest Feedback

Infosys Interview Experience – Need Honest Feedback

I got shortlisted for the Infosys DSE/SP role through my campus drive and recently attended the technical interview. The interview lasted around 30 minutes.

I wanted to share my experience and get an honest opinion from people who have gone through Infosys DSE/SP interviews.

Questions asked

AI/ML:

  • MCP
  • RAG
  • Transformers
  • Attention
  • Embeddings
  • Reinforcement Learning

CS fundamentals / DBMS / OOP:

  • ACID properties
  • Abstraction
  • Encapsulation
  • Static
  • Scalability
  • DBMS indexing
  • B-trees / B+ trees

DSA:

  • BST creation
  • Tree traversals
  • Inorder / Preorder / Postorder
  • Printing tree elements
  • AVL trees
  • Balance factor
  • bfs/dfs algorithms

I was able to answer most of the conceptual questions.

I got confused on AVL trees. I said the balance factor could be -2 to +2, and when he asked what happens if the tree becomes unbalanced, I couldn't answer the rotation part.

For DBMS indexing, I said B-trees/B+ trees are used and explained that keys are stored in internal nodes, data/records are at the leaf level, and the leaf nodes are connected. But when he specifically asked me to explain B+ trees in more detail, I said I didn't know.

Coding + SQL

I was given 2 coding questions. I couldn't arrive at the correct solutions, but I attempted both and wrote/explained my approach.

I was also given 2 SQL questions. I attempted both but unfortunately got them wrong.

At the end, I asked whether I could expect a further call from Infosys. The interviewer laughed and said i cant reveal that now. “That's not in my hands.”

One thing I noticed was that the interviewer asked me a lot of questions across different topics and kept going deeper into different areas rather than ending the interview quickly.

I'm aware that not solving the coding and SQL questions is a major negative, so I'm not looking for sugarcoating.

For people who have experience with Infosys DSE/SP hiring:

Do you think I still have a realistic chance of getting selected? How heavily are coding and SQL weighted compared to the overall technical interview?

Would really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have gone through the Infosys DSE/SP campus hiring process.
