What is standard NHS GP care for prediabetes?

I was diagnosed with prediabetes sort of by accident 5 years ago. I never had symptoms but had some blood tests done for something else and my hba1c was 45. I got a text with the diagnosis and a link to a leaflet with very basic info about prediabetes. When I asked to speak to someone about it the receptionist told me I couldn't, I'd get a blood test once a year to monitor and I could speak to the diabetes nurse "when" I got diabetes.

I figured this is a case where the NHS has decided because of limited resources they are not going to prioritise prediabetes care. Which I thought was a bit short sighted (reducing risk of people with prediabetes developing diabetes would probably save money in the long run), but ultimately understandable. I know the NHS is under a lot of pressure.

I decided to get support privately and it's been very helpful. I recently posted in another UK specific sub that I got my hba1c down to 36. Someone commented that my GP must be pleased, I've literally never spoken to my GP about it. The only medical professional I've ever mentioned it to was an A&E nurse who asked me if I had any medical conditions.

But the comment got me wondering, is the care I've received normal? What is the normal standard care for prediabetes? Is it very variable and just at GP discretion or is there a policy?

NSV: hba1c is 36!

I have prediabetes my GP only does my hba1c once a year, so I've been waiting ages to see what MJ has done for it.

I got it down a bit with food and exercise from 45 to 42.

MJ has made a huge difference! Now down to 36!

"You're losing weight so slowly no one is going to notice"

She said after noticing I'd lost weight.

Sort of a vent, but mostly an observation that sometimes other people are super weird when you lose weight.

About 6 weeks ago my mum noticed I'd lost weight. So I told her I was trying to lose weight, but didn't tell her about the MJ (she would judge). She's always been obsessed with my weight and since I told her I'm losing on purpose everytime I speak to her she asks me how much I've lost.

I'm losing on average just over 1lb a week and it's very inconsistent, mostly because of my cycle. I have weeks I lose nothing, some I lose 1 or 2lbs and even one where I went up 1lb.

I'm really happy with my progress, but my mum is much less impressed.

Last time I spoke her she told me "You're losing weight so slowly no one is going to notice", which was funny to me because she noticed and I've already told her my main motivation is my health.

ETA: When I said I'm really happy with my progress and I found this funny I did genuinely mean that and I didn't read this comment as abusive, but everyone else's reaction suggests this is way worse I thought it was. Maybe my sense of humour has been warped by the long history of absolutely insane things my mum has said about my body.

Greasy roots and dry ends now I'm washing it more often

I always used to wash my hair every other day it is was mostly fine. But recently I've finally got consistent with going to gym, I'm going 5 or 6 times a week and I sweat. So I wash my hair after every time I go to the gym.

Since I've been washing it more often the roots are getting really greasy really quickly, I need to wash it every day and it's starting to feel unpleasant half way through the day. The ends are feeling a bit dry. I shampoo the roots and condition the lengths to try to counter that, is there anything else I can try?

I'm 37F, my hair is 1C, medium porosity and not dyed.

NSV the jeans I got to slim into fitted today!

My favourite size 20 jeans were feeling roomy so I got the exact same jeans from vinted in a size 18. I saw a size 16 of the exact same pair on for just £3, so I decided to get them too for the future.

They both arrived today. The size 18 was still a tiny bit roomy and the 16 fitted perfectly!! Very unexpected!

I don't feel like a 16 when I look in the mirror, but the jeans say otherwise.
