Canada - Independant flight instructor

Just a simple question: in Canada, is it possible to find an independent flight instructor? I don't own an airplane. It seems the regulations are different from the United States, where that's possible. I can't find any information on the subject. As far as I understand, I'm either tied to a flight school, or I have to hire a CFI and already own my own airplane. Is that correct?

Should I keep going, or am I wasting my time?

I just need to vent a bit. I've barely managed to log 10 hours of flight time in three months. I can only fly on weekends, and there have been so many cancellations. I'm not making much progress, which is understandable since my flights are so irregular. I had motion sickness at the beginning, then it got better, but now that we're having this tropical heat, it's come back.

I'm hanging in there, but now my instructor is leaving, and there aren't any other instructors available at the school. I have to wait until I'm assigned a new one.

Should I keep going no matter what? Money isn't an issue, but because I have a demanding, well-paid job, I don't have much availability during the week either.

I already have 10 hours under my belt, though. I'm worried that if I stop and wait for a better time, when I have more free time, that "perfect" opportunity will never come and I'll end up never resuming my flight training.

I can keep going, but it's going to take me forever. The other option would be to cut back a bit on work and take some mornings off during the week, or fly in the evenings after work.

So, to sum it up: am I just wasting my time, or should I stick with it because this is simply what flight training is like for everyone.

How can I be better prepared when I only fly on weekends

I can only fly on weekends, so I'm looking for advice on how to arrive as prepared as possible for each lesson.

Because of the weather, I don't get to fly every week. I usually book three flights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but many of them end up being cancelled. I haven't flown in a month and a half, and I only have 8 hours of flight time so far. I'm still at the very beginning of my training and haven't even done my first landing yet.

To answer some questions in advance: no, I can't fly after work because my instructor only flies on weekends. No, I won't be changing instructors. This is the only realistic way for me to do my training, and other people have successfully learned under similar circumstances.

Yes, it's going to take more time and cost more money, but it's either this or not learning to fly at all. I can't put my career on hold for six months just to complete flight training.

What I'm looking for is advice on how to be as prepared as possible between lessons. I already review the checklists and study the flight manual. Are there any other things I should be doing to make the most of each flight?

Also, would using a flight simulator help me progress between lessons, or could it actually create bad habits at this early stage of training?
