Hxh fanfiction

I just recently finished hxh (the 2011 version), and I really enjoyed it! I’ve been trying to find some good Gacha reaction vids but it’s been no luck on that front (save for a few gems) but one other thing I’ve noticed is the lack of good quality long hxh fanfiction.

Now, I can see part of the reason is hxh is an older anime, and even older if you’re looking at the 90s version. I understand the fandom is not as active as it could be, but I was hoping to at least find something.

I’ve been enjoying some crossover fics, but the good ones aren’t finished and I’m looking at the very real future of me sorting through pages worth of fics to find that one diamond in the rough; so, I figured I’d ask here if there are any older fics or specific ones that are good I could look at!

I’m particularly fond of Killua and Gon as mcs, even if I love me some good Kurapika and Leorio, but good fics about them are even scarcer. I’m not fond of Hisoka or Illumi fics, or the Phantom Troupe, so if those are ur recs thanks but no thanks!

(Crossovers and anything from angst to character studies are welcome!)

Keyleth

Ok, so I tagged this a spoiler just to be safe, but it probably won’t spoil much if anything.

So, we know Keyleth is at least part elf. But I’ve seen multiple sources telling me Keyleth is half elf when I would have SWORN in the flashback to her mom leaving on her Arementay (idk how to spell it) that her mom and dad were BOTH elves.

So what gives??? How can you be a half-elf when both parents are def both elves?? Even if one parent is only part elf that would make you MORE elf than human so I’m lost 😅

Any explanations? Or was I just blind and got her flashback totally messed up?

2011 version and 90s version

Aight, so I just finished watching Hunter Hunter (2011) version this last week, and I really enjoyed it! The pacing sometimes felt a bit odd, but overall it was 9/10.

Once finished I was briefly confused, since there had been one specific scene that wasn’t in the show when I thought it would be. Found out with some help from Reddit that the scene I was thinking about was from one of the non-canon movies, which as for now I’ve decided not to watch.

But now, with the show over and my decision to not watch the movies, I started thinking about the older version of the HxH. Seeing as I won’t be able to get ahold of the manga for the foreseeable future, I wanted to ask the Reddit HunterxHunter community if the older show is worth a watch, for the added HxH content.

I’ve seen a few clips from it in edits, and it seems like it might be a more detailed or longer version than the 2011 one. Does it diverge much, and is there any particular reason I shouldn’t? My main reason for hesitating is I’m not used to older anime, and worry it won’t be to my tastes—but if it’s got good reviews I’m willing to give it a try. I’ve been on YouTube, but it isn’t giving me much. (Good quality reaction vids of the boys are hard to come by apparently.)

Greed Island Question

Ok, so I’m a little less than halfway through season four of Hunter x Hunter, and I’m a little bit confused on the mechanics of Greed Island.

I thought the whole point of the game being so expensive was that it was deadly. People would and did pay billions for this game—one only hunters could use. I thought it was explicitly stated that the only way to exit the game was to win it.

But partway through this training arc we shift to a different group of hunters in the game, following the bomber subplot and all that stuff.

And this is where we see them use slot cards (or magic cards I cant remember the actual term) to temporarily leave the game. What makes the game so risky if they can leave the game at any time? Is this just not common knowledge outside of the game?

But that doesn’t make sense because if hunters leave, obviously that would get out. I don’t know. I’m just a little bit fuzzy on the mechanics and wanted some clarification.
