1969 Volkswagen Squareback Pop-Out Window Latches

I bought this 1969 Volkswagen Type 3 recently that was in really good overall condition but needed some love in the window department (amongst some other things).

The OG pop out latches were very wobbly when opened and didn't pull the windows in tight enough to produce a seal which is a concern for my neck of the PNW (US). Finding replacements for the whole assembly was proving to be difficult and expensive so I took to youtube to learn how over center latches work and designed these to pull the windows in a bit harder than the OG latches (I also replaced the rubber seals). This is V3 that's been installed and the first version that I would be happy with as the final part.

This version is printed in Matterhackers NylonX (CF infused Nylon). Time will tell for longevity but I tried to take that into consideration with the design.

Bonus points for some door handle and mirror trims I also made which are easily available online but, you know, printer gonna print. I think the CF filament looks great.

VW Mechanic Recommendations?

Greetings fellow Salemanders,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a trustworthy mechanic who works on late model VW's? I am going to look at a '69 VW Type 3 and would very much like to get a pre-purchase inspection by someone who knows a bit more about what they are doing before I pull the trigger. I've done some light wrenching and am capable of general maintenance but would like to ensure I'm not getting in over my head right from the start.

Thanks in advance.

Missed connection - Vintage VW Wagon

Me: riding in the back seat of our Kia on the way to see the new Minions movie so my birthday boy can ride shotgun.

You: Waiting to turn right on to Wallace towards the bridge from the Circle K in West Salem and driving a vintage green VW wagon with a For Sale sign in the drivers side rear door window.

I couldn’t get my phone out fast enough to snap a pic of the sign. If you are or know the person selling this car I’d like to chat.
