Summer Weather in Charlottesville

I've lived in Virgnia for 50+ years. Reflecting on this summer, I was thinking that it seems much hotter than normal, but perhaps it is my age or faulty memory. Turns out, it was really hot! Charlottesville averages 28 days per year over 90+ degrees. This year we are already at 47 with today likely to be number 48. We also average 1 day over 100. This year we have had 6. So, it's not your imagination.

It's been hotter than the devil's armpit!

Weird Symptoms -- Anyone else?

Hi - Recently diagnosed. Had a score of 17 on the test. That seems high? My Primary Care doctor knows very little. Anyway, I had a reaction about 5 days ago and my symptoms don't seem too common. I had a small rash and occasional GI issues, but nothing major. My main symptom is tinnitus with headache and dizziness. My throat feels a bit closed but not too worrisome. I haven't found the source of the reaction. I was already not eating meat but was taking a vitamin with a gel cap and had some cheese. I've cut those out, but the ringing and headaches persist. Taking Pepcid and Zyrtec. Anyone else experience these? I just want to make sure I'm not conflating Alpha Gal with some other malady.

And then depression set in

Diagnosed earlier this year. Changed my diet, lost weight, have my sugar mostly in control, but was still having some weird symptoms on occasion. I would get dizzy, have tinnitus, GI issues, and occasionally a rash. Turns out I tested positive for Alpha Gal - so now no beef, pork, lamb. Just heartbreaking for me. Anyone else dealing with this? Bonus points if you can name the movie the title is a quote from.

This is Big Red

He is the son I never had and the best boy. He has hauled countless bales of hay, made many trips to the dump, moved children to and from college and in/out of apartments. He has towed our camper and never complained. He is perfect. I don’t need fancy features or tech. I don’t need a complicated tailgate. I just need him. If he needs a new transmission or engine he will get it - in the hopes he will outlast me. I love you Big Red.

WingStop Review

I finally made it to WingStop. I've never been to another location. I thought it was pretty good and the price ~$11 for 10 wings was reasonable. I got 5 classic hot (buffalo) and 5 cajun flavored. I thought the cajun were excellent and somewhat unique. The buffalo were just so-so. Overall, though, it was a positive experience. The young lady behind the counter was very nice and friendly, and the food was ready quickly. Any other flavors I should try?
