Rosemount 3051 repair

Is it worth it or is there much success repairing these?

After a lightning storm a Rosemount 3051 started reading max range. I did some troubleshooting and everything looked good at the instrument. It said it was reading 7 something mA on the screen but the loop is maxed out.

The transmitter got replaced and that solved the problem. I have the old one. I want to fix it but I’m not sure which part is responsible. Termination board, Hart, or LCD.

ISCO 5800 tripping gfci

It’s in ongoing problem. The GFCI doesn’t trip with a backup unit. It was on its 15th sample and this is after I inspected it and cleaned up the wiring. Someone already changed the power supply. The buttons didn’t work when I got there so I put a new screen/ribbon cable on it because of some corrosion where it plugs into the PCB on the ribbon cable itself. This fixed the buttons. I pulled the unit apart and inspected the wiring and it all looks ok. The heating coil for the compressor wasn’t connected so I connected it just to keep that connector from flopping around in there. The ground wire wasn’t terminated to the compressor housing so I did that. I tested it for a few hours just cooling and it got down to near 0 degrees. Then they put it in place and called me about it tripping again the next day and that’s when they saw it get to 15 samples.

I could take the heater coil completely off and take the sample pump off to inspect the connections and that’s about it. They aren’t that complex it’s just a basic refrigerator with a pump. We don’t use the arm inside the unit.

How do we feel about 1 for 1 when letting people in?

Im on a road that is a single lane that meets up with the main road about 50 yards before a 4 way stop and it is angled towards the 4 way like a merge and I have a yield sign. I see the people in front of me being let in 1 for 1 or alternating. Nice and civilized. Then it’s my turn and I can tell the person isn’t going to let me in and that’s fine. Maybe they are in a hurry so I just scoffed a little. The car behind them lets me out and after the 4 way I’m behind the person who didn’t let me out. They are going 50 in a 55. So now I’m wondering why not just let me out if we are on a Sunday stroll?

Do you try to do 1 for 1? I sometimes don’t let people out if their road isn’t backed up. If I’ve been in traffic and I see them roll up right as I get there sometimes I let someone else let them in. I know there is no law or anything and it’s just courtesy but I’m wondering how other people feel about it.

This 4 way will be a traffic circle soon. My town won’t have a red light or 4 way eventually.

Ear protection + music for mowing

Any recommendations? I normally use over ear style but I started wearing a bigger hat for sun protection. I tried an older pair of AirPod pros and they worked decent. The NRR rating is 10 so they still let a good bit of noise in. To be fair they aren’t designed for this use. The noise cancelation reduces the mower drone a lot. The sound is pretty good. I was at Lowe’s and it seems like every major tool brand has ear buds ranging from
20 NRR to 25 but I’m looking for real world experiences.

Bumps on hull.

I bought a Tahoe q5i bow rider from someone who had a dock and they would keep the boat in the water half the year. When I got home and cleaned the junk off the bottom I noticed the fiberglass had raised places all over. Blisters might be a more accurate description as far as size and shape but they are solid. My fingernail can’t deform the bump. The internet said it was from being in the water too long. I want to sell this boat and I want to accurately be able to let someone know about it and if it’s will get worse. I have had this boat 5 years and it hasn’t gotten worse but I only use it for a few hours about 4 times a year then store it in my garage.

Smoke machine for vacuum leaks

So I wanted to get one of these because I don’t see any apparent vacuum leaks and I have all new intake hoses and such. I figured if it was cheap why not?

Well when I went to Harbor Freight theirs is $599. I just wanted something cheap for my project car I’m not in business doing this. Are the $50 ones on Amazon terrible?

Any suggestions for something good enough?

2016 suburban transmission shutter

We had the trans replaced 2 years ago. The old trans failed and the fluid was brown with debris in it. The shop bought a remanufactured transmission from GM.
When we got it home and I was able to drive it (it’s my wife’s car) I noticed a shutter it wasn’t doing before. My wife didn’t care because she can’t feel what I’m talking about.

It seems to do it around town when it switches from 4-8cyl modes at around 2k rpm and 30-50mph. I bought an AFM blocking tool but don’t leave it on all the time.

I finally got around to seeing if I could do anything about this. AI says it’s probably ruined already but I could drain the fluid and put in a certain mobile one fluid gm recommends or a shutter stopper fluid.

This thing has 190k miles on it so I don’t think it’s worth buying a beefy torque converter unless it’s an easy swap.

The fluid in it now is a light pink fluid that seems kinda thin. I don’t see any glitter in the fluid I get off the dip stick. Hard to imagine it’s not messed up driving it this long. AI also said they might not have reset adaptations. I have a scanner that might be able to do that if I buy the GM software. I use it on a bmw and can reset engine adaptations and see all the modules and their codes. Seems like after two years it would have adjusted the adaptations back.

Budget clubs? Getting back into golf.

I played a lot in my younger years. I was better as a kid with some junior clubs than I was when I bought a cheap set of Wilson’s in my 20’s.

Now I’m getting back into it. I want a decent cheap set just in case I don’t stick with it. I was going to buy the Costco set then I looked on Amazon and they had a Callaway strata set for $350. There are a lot of brands on there I’ve never heard of and Wilson’s..

I could always go check out my local golf store and get some used stuff too.

So I started driving in the mid 90’s. I was taught if you are making a right turn and it’s green you have the right of way. If it’s red you stop and make sure it’s clear.

On new roads the county has been putting up yield signs in right turning lanes. So in this case it’s two straight lanes and a right turn lane. This is at a traffic signal. It’s also a T intersection so the road im turning right on doesn’t continue to my left.

Am I supposed to be yielding on a green right turn to the oncoming ppl making a left on green to go down the same road? Why are they putting these yield signs up? It makes people think they have to yield all the time. Cars making a left on green feel like the right on green cars should wait and we do have a yield sign so... I’ll yield but I don’t feel like it’s right. If they have a green arrow and it’s red for me yeah I know I have to yield. The presence of the sign is adding confusing to the intersection.

Edit: Ok I get it now. If this was a two or four lane road with no turning lanes the oncoming car wanting to make a left on green would have to yield and let me make my right on green. Since they added the turning lane to make a right turn It no longer matters if the light is green. I have to yield to the person making a left on green. I honestly didn’t know this and it still seems odd not let the right turn person go since it’s much easier to just keep moving but it’s some traffic engineering stuff. Maybe the oncoming left turn lane gets backed up if they have to wait for all three lanes to be clear before they can make a left.

I’ll try to make this short.

I have a Tahoe Q5i and family wants to fish. I have no trolling motor or seats for fishing but there was a fish and ski version of this boat. I don’t know how much of a pain it would be to add a trolling motor/wiring and put some places for seat posts in it.

Sell my boat and use money for a fish and ski or any thing that would suit this purpose. I saw an aluminum V hull boat that would probably work. I even thought of getting something half the value of my boat just to make some money.

Wife saw a pontoon equipped with trolling motor and a few chairs for fishing and she really liked the idea of that but I’ve never even been on a pontoon so not sure what fishing off one is like.

It wouldn’t be serious fishing or water sports. My

Kids freak out if I try to get them to cross the wake on a tube.
