Do you also get post views but never any follows, comments or any other “public” engagement?

I was standing in a mall food court area one random afternoon. A guy approached me. Looked a little shy but in the moment brave enough to approach. He asked if I needed data, And I said no, then he walked away. I have never been asked that by stranger at the mall so I wanted to understand if this is a new scam these days to get someone’s personal information, or does he genuinely walk around selling data or was he finding a way to ask me out without being obvious.
For context I’m male, with stern antisocial look, not visibly queer but my body language and posture, mannerisms may give it away.
