4 month old bedtime?

I know that babies’ sleep at 4 months is total chaos, but gosh it’s really kicking my butt. Tonnes of nightly wakeups, sometimes a 5am start - feeling quite depleted.

Wondering if I have bedtime wrong. He recently dropped to 4 naps, and tends to get 3.5 hours of daytime sleep. He seems very ready for bed between 7.30-8.30pm, then generally wakes up full of beans at 6.30-7.30am. But he will also wake 4-5 times throughout the night and I always feed back to sleep.

Would love to know your 4 month pro/re-gression stories. Is this normal? When did it start easing up a bit? Or have I got bedtime wrong? Thank you for your wisdom 🙌🏼

Chingford Road shops

Does anyone know if there’s anything happening with the shops on Chingford Road near the Dog and Duck and the big roundabout? A few are boarded up, and other than that there’s four off-licenses, a greasy spoon, a kebab shop and a dry cleaners.

I’m not asking for massive gentrification, but would be great to see the boarded up shops taken over, and four off licenses all next to each other is unnecessary - would love to have more variety. It’s a very residential area with lots of young families so I reckon a nice cafe would do well there.

I know there’s Buhler, Wynwood District and the nice grocery shop, but those are way further down on the corner with Forest Road.

What do you think, do you like what’s on offer at the moment further up on Chingford Road?

When are the shops on Chingford Road going to improve?

What are we doing about contact naps in a heatwave?

Would love to know how people are managing daytime contact/carrier naps while temperatures soar. My baby almost exclusively naps on us or in the carrier, but currently is quite irritable in the heat, wakes frequently pushing away from us, when normally he’d have a nice long nap. Tried supporting him to nap in a bassinet in case he preferred that to cool off a bit, but obviously that just makes my velcro baby wide awake!

Do we just ride it out? Hope our babies get accustomed to feeling warmer than usual? Or do we flee to Iceland?

Exclusive contact naps?

Hoping to tap into the wisdom of my parent elders here. I have a 10 week old, and since he was about 6 weeks old daytime naps became a real battle. He’s so curious about the world that he struggles to fall asleep in the daytime. The only way I’ve found to help him fall asleep is either nursing, or in a carrier. In both scenarios I will pat his bum and have a light cloth over his head to remove visual distractions until he dozes off.

I tried getting him to sleep in the buggy but it only works if he’s just nursed and about to doze, and if the buggy moved constantly. Transfers to the bassinet in the daytime mean he’ll wake up 5-10 min later.

I’d love to know if your babies were like this too, and how did it evolve? When did they start falling asleep more easily and being ok sleep in somewhere that isn’t on you in the daytime? Should I be doing something right now to help him transition some naps to the bassinet?

I love a contact nap, but at the moment it’s 5x a day and I’m exhausted. Thank you.
