Criticism Vs Hate

I guess I am going to get heavily downvoted for this but I will still say whatever I have to...because nowadays, so people have to be verbally reminded to use at least a few of their brain cells before commenting

CRITICISM IS NOT SAME AS HATE!!!! Problematic or not, whenever there is an idea presented publicly like movies, paid books, classics, everything will have a group of people who are never going to point it out in what changes could have been there to make it a bit better. And this is something which happens naturally.

And it won't change JUST BECAUSE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS ARE WRITING A WATTPAD BOOK. This rule applies to anybody and everybody and will continue to do so always.

What's with responding "If you don't like, then don't read it" when someone points out what they like and what they don't. Give me one good reason why wouldn't we when the author is writing on a free platform meant for everyone....they want others to read their work right? That's why they publish it on a public platform in the first place, right? Correct me if I am wrong.

And about "People can write whatever they can and they can read whatever they can" Yep! I agree it's true, people can indeed read and write what they can. But why is this rule only applied to authors and not the person who is not liking a certain way a character is presented. If writing "anything" in the name of romance is their freedom, then so is pointing out what is wrong and right done is also freedom? Don't you agree?

That being said, I am only talking about the criticism towards a certain character's actions or words....not blind hating on an entire book due to one problematic character, not any sort of personally attacks, judgements, etc. That is and will always be a problem and I am not at all in the support of that. But I seriously think that if an author doesn't have the courage to at least listen to the fact that they characters could be wrong in some way, Then sorry, Wattpad isn't the place for them.

I said what I said. Period.

Can't understand

Okay so first let me clarify I am not promoting my book...so I won't be sharing the link. Something's really bugging me so I wanted to ask about it.

A few months earlier, finally breaking free from the self-imposed perfection loop, I finally got the courage to write. Good, bad whatever I am just penning it down. Now before I started, I noticed many books having just 1 to 2 chapters, but nearly a million or more reads. So, I was under the impression I might just have the same. And imagine my slight disappointment when even after six months, I barely got 1k reads(half of which is just me reading and re-reading my own book) and less than 20 votes...even though I have written over 20 chapters. Can anyone tell me why is this happening?

And no, before anyone misunderstands, I am not comparing my work to anyone. Because just as someone who writes for pure fun only and not for views and votes...I will still continue writing. But I am still confused as to why this is happening

Is it just me...?

I want to ask...is it just something that happens with me...or with everyone else too? That whenever I am writing something and I happen to read another book or watch a movie or series in between that, the writing style automatically changes, resembling what I am reading or watching?

Is it just me or does it happen with everyone else too?

Why?

Okay, just came across one similar thing across many books and could not help but wonder why that is the way it is. Okay so I have talking about the grumpyXsunshine or reverse grumpyXsunshine where one of the leads come off as intimidating, rude and cold. Okay, understood, accepted and acknowledged.

But the thing I don't understand is that why every such lead has a bad past. It's almost like bad past justifies the unnecessarily rude and cold behaviour. Why is it the mentality that just because you have suffered due to someone, that you have to make someone else suffer. Personally, I feel this sort of mentality is a bit immature. People can suffer endlessly and still be kind to others, can't they

And yet again, I don't understand that just because a character is grumpy, why the past always has to be bad. Why can't people with very normal pasts be cold and rude too?? Like for example, an introvert who always has a hard time getting along with other people, might seems rude and cold to some. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they have a bad past.

Okay leave that, even if the character is not even an introvert, still can't they purposefully be rude to someone because they don't like them, and not because of any bad pasts.

(Just my thoughts, but I would like to hear y'all opinions too)

What do you think about this??

Clarification

This is a clarification regarding the post that I made yesterday. My intention is to never to shame anyone or make anyone insecure about writing a particular way. People have preferences and I respect it.

Now coming to the main topic, when I mentioned about books having no plot, I certainly wasn't talking about slice of life books. Coz I know that those kind of books, instead of having over the top twists and turns...having more focus on the character growth and dynamics(And that is a golden genre in itself, if executed properly). And again that "proper" word here is subjective, what's proper to me might not be the same for someone else.

But what I was exactly trying to say earlier I will explain it with an example.

"The fl looked at the ml and smiled" This is okay for me. In fact it's good and keeps me interested to keep on reading

But what I feel a bit frustrating to read is "The fl looked. Stared. Saw. Glared. Glowered. and infinite other words giving the same meaning of look to the ml". Haan thik hai, samjhi main. You have good english knowledge, even better than Shakespeare. Why do you have to flex it so much? Just move on and show the other things too. And what then it continues pages after pages, chapters after chapters, for me it gets classified as "barely any plot" but refined eloquence. And that is something I don't like to read, especially on platforms like wattpad where we come to see creativity rather than good english.

(This is entirely my opinion. Correct me if I am wrong
