Arthur Harris, mid-1950’s

Perhaps the greatest uncrowned Mr. America, Arthur Harris was a phenom of the Silver Era. Though he was awarded Most Muscular, he was never awarded even a top 5 finish at the contest. The time period is unfortunately telling of why. Bill Pearl called Arthur Harris the hardest working bodybuilder he ever saw, and virtually nothing of his diet or training is known today. A friend and fellow competitor of his, Dr. Ken Rosa, reported seeing Harris do 400lb lat pulldowns, 1,000lb leg presses, and 200lb weighted pull-ups, all at a bodyweight of 190lbs.

A forgotten legend with an all-time great physique. He died in 2003, age 70. These photos were taken in 1955/56.

Don Howorth, 1967 Mr. America, dies aged 91

The Duke of Delts, Don was a popular figure in the Golden Age, with arguably the best hair ever.

“It's crazy how things have deteriorated. Some champs work their arms or chest or whatever only once a week. We worked them as often as humanly possible.”

- Don Howorth in 2001

[Discussion] Anyone here been part of a ballot box sale?

I’m considering organizing a ballot box sale with a group of artists I work with, but I don’t know anyone who has been a part of one to offer insight. Some big events do them each year but is it an old fashion idea by now? Any artist here been part of a successful one? What was your commission?
