How would you have handled this artist question ? (first artist game for everyone, ST included)
The other day I storytold games with the artist for the first time, and this situation came up :
At the start of the 1st day player X is a baron and publicly said that Y player is definitely good (this was a bluff, as it was a 5 player game so I didn't give the demon/minon info, and this was around the start of the game (nobody left for private discussions yet), so there's no way X could know). The artist later asked me if X lied. I wasn't sure what to answer as Y is indeed good, but X did bluff as they had no idea at the time, so I could consider it a lie.
I didn't want to explain the difference to clarify, as that would give too much information away, so in the end I ended up proposing to answer the following reformulation "is Y player good ?" without explaining why I chose that reformulation. What would you have done ?
An important note is that everyone at the game was a beginner (just a few games played in total, and this was the first game with artist) so answering with a "I don't know" would have caused more confusion than really helped for a first artist game I think. Also I think the player had the question I proposed in mind originally but just formulated it differently accidentally (though I am not 100% sure) so answering with "yes (X lied)" would have caused a confusing/frustrating situation for players I think.
