Finally some ripening, and eating!

The weather has cooled off a little so maybe that’s helped. Was very excited to try my Amethyst Jewels for the first time. They almost smell like berries, very fruity and quite tart which I love. The rest of the still greeny ones are going in my ripening box with a few bananas and apples.

Ignore the strawberries, they’re a side quest

Tangy and sweet tomato and herb salad

This dish has been such a summer favourite of mine. It’s so delicious and simple to make in this heat.

My Amethyst Jewel tomatoes finally ripened after staring at them long enough so I drowned them in what looks like too much olive oil but definitely is not. A splash of acv with some oregano and thyme from the garden and some salt and pepper. Served with some fresh, preferably crusty bread and you’re good to go.

Is it a salad, a dip? Who knows, but I want to eat it all the time.

First time growing beets and I’m in love with those candy stripe stems

How best to eat three golf ball sized beets; any ideas folks?

A Mid-Summer brew

All collected from my garden this morning ; Flowering thyme, strawberry leaf, young lemon leaves, green lavender and chamomile added to a crisp London gin.

The last image is after I left it out in the long solstice sun all day. I look forward to sampling it in a few weeks.
