Mourning my baby

Mourning my baby

Trigger warning: loss

Hey everyone,

I posted about my baby, Chicle, earlier last week, but he sadly passed on Sunday. I am not okay. He would've been 5 months today. My boyfriend and I are struggling so hard with this loss. In the short time we had him, he took over our hearts in a way I can't even explain. It felt like we've had him forever. I took the day off work yesterday because the emotions were too intense, but I had to return today because we need the money and cause life doesn't care that we're hurt. It moves on. We spent almost $900 at the vet when he got injured and had to take that out of the rent money we owed. We're struggling so hard right now but even that stress doesn't hold a candle to the pain we're feeling over losing Chicle. And it feels like most people don't really care about someone losing a bird as they do when someone loses a dog or a cat. I don't get it. They're adored by us just as much, they're our babies. It feels like my pain gets hand-waved away. I work at a daycare and when I came in to work this morning, the main teacher bitched at me for not coming in yesterday. I explained to her what happened and she shrugged as if saying "That's not my problem." I'm currently in the corner of the classroom wiping away my tears before they fall because I don't want to deal with anymore ire from these people. Please send us strength to get through this. We miss our baby so much 💔

Send healing vibes to Chicle

Update: Our Chicle passed away 😭💔 I went to check in on him and he was already gone. 😭 I am so broken right now, I feel ridiculous for coming here to even say this, but you all were so kind with your support, I feel I have to come and share it with people that know what it's like to truly love a bird. I can't believe we're expected to just keep living without him. I can't even fathom not waking up to his chirps and taking him to the bathroom so he can take his first poop of the day over the toilet. I feel like I'm only hurting myself writing this right now but I needed to get this out. Thank you all for sending good vibes to Chicle. I wish there was more we could've done for him but we truly did everything we could. My heart is broken

He's healing from a broken leg and already chewed through an e-collar. 🫠 He has to go back to remove the splint in 2 weeks. Please send good vibes to my baby 🙏🏼 We hope he has a speedy recovery.

Our GCC Chicle has grown so much

I haven't posted our Chicle since he/she (still haven't done the DNA test) was a baby. Time for updated pictures. ☺️
