I accidentally made my bird sick!

Posting in case this is something others don't know. I mean, we've had Baloo for almost 6 years, and this was news to us.

Baloo went for his annual checkup last night. Everything looked really good, except he had slightly elevated gram-negative bacteria in his beak/throat swab. The vet explained that this could be due to stress (we just moved to a new house in a new state) or bacteria from our own mouths. My husband and I looked at each other sort of shocked. We often give Baloo kisses on the beak, or bite off small bits of food to share with him. Turns out we've also been sharing bacteria! I mean, it makes sense, but we had never really stopped to think about it. We certainly will stop those behaviors now. Baloo is fine! No symptoms, like sneezing, vomiting, lethargy, elevated white blood cells, etc, so his little immune system is doing its job. But I can imagine how that could get worse over time or develop into a big problem if he were to pick up any other illness. We have a probiotic to add to his chop for a few weeks. And no more beak kisses!

Why does my GCC do this with its mouth?

When I bring it close to my ear when it does this, I can hear a sound which goes like "tick tick tick". I'm worried, do all birds do this? Also, could it be because of the heat? The place where I'm from is pretty hot coz of summer. It does this after flying or doing some physical activity. It used to do it rarely, now it's getting quite frequent. It is almost 2 and half years old now. And it is very active. Whenever it sees someone it likes, it flies a lot, plays with them, but it does stop to do that inbetween. I just wanna know if this is normal, and if not, if this is common and can be cured.

Best play activity center I got off Amazon!!!

CoCo loves this activity center. She fights with the bells though...lol. If you want the link, just message me. I will gladly give it. We play outside in the early morning so it is not hot in the florida sun. She loves hearing the birds and gets some fresh air for 30 minutes. She can not fly yet (thats always on my mind) and I have a enclosed gazebo. We love our mornings together!!!

Guess Who has Learned how to Unscrew the Cage Door...

And she has been laughing nonstop since I noticed a bird when and where I was not expecting a bird. At this point she's just straight up disconnecting the hardware that's supposed to hold the door closed. Next step is a padlock, I swear to God. 😭🥲😂

visit to the vet

my pineapple ggc (meusli) started plucking again, mostly at her legs so i took her to the vet. vet checked her legs for bone damage, skin irritation and mite damage but she said everything is normal and ruled out other illnesses. she did give her some mite droplets and anti inflammatory medicine.

she's a very anxious bird and stresses more compared to my others so i got her some supplements, it helps with molt support, stress and plucking prevention and feather health overall.

really hoping this works, i feel so hopeless in situations like these because i want to give my birdies the best life.

My parrot is terrified of surfaces

I've had a blue-headed conure for almost a year, and I've noticed a peculiar behavior: he's afraid of surfaces.
It almost seems like he doesn't want to familiarize himself with the room. Every time he leaves his cage (very often), he flies either at me, the TV, or on top of the cage.
As long as he is handled or is in one of his favorite places (as in the photo) he is calm, but as soon as I put him on the desk, on the table, on the bookcase or on any other surface he stiffens and gestures with his foot as if he wants to climb onto my finger.
He very rarely interacts with objects in the room, unlike other parrots who may hide, destroy furniture, eat books, and make a mess.
Is it a prerogative of the species, his personality or I can act in a way to make him open up more to what surrounds him?

Feather Issue

Hello Fellow Conure owners/friends

Why are her feather ends looking like this? Will this grow back or need trimming and any supplement I can include for the recovery?

Help with biting all of a sudden

My girlfriend and I have had Loki for 3 months now and he used to bite me early on when he was still new to us. Eventually he warmed up to us and stopped biting me, but he was still scared of my girlfriend a bit. Now he's not really scared if her anymore, which is good, but he's also biting me again as well as no longer stepping up onto my hand. We thought maybe he's somewhat scared or feels threatened by me again, but he also hates it when I leave the room. I'll walk towards the hallway and he'll fly across the room just to be on my shoulder or screech when I leave.

We're both first time bird owners so we aren't fully sure what the sudden biting again means, as well as why he is one way with me and another way with her. Especially since he only bites me. Can anyone help with this because we haven't found an answer online?
